The items showed herein are those we hold as the most commonly ordered. A forest of towers - a nice picture of what aluminium looks like in its best shapes - lattice construction. Civilization needs communication. Most of us has come to be so familiarized with those Communication Towers that we tend to not see them. The Internet is a large part of the communication where the information is put into wires where towers hold up the communication points where wires cannot be used. What we are looking at is great combination of items from older times in a beutiful combination with items from modern time. A pleasure in itself. A large amount of effort is put into the ability to let people communicate. The cellular phones represent a very strong link between people of today. Not many will disagree. Still, in spite of the fact of communication needs there is a swift wariness among some as the very picture of nature does not fully agree with a tower poking up in the sky in the middle of an open land. Unfortunately we sometimes tend to blame the tower. ”Why kill the piano player? He hasn’t made the piece.” A tower is a beautiful and its very reason for existing is even more beautiful. New LED technology made the entire building bath in wonderful colours. Over 16000 colours were made possible from some 40 constructions . All LED’s are mounted on facilities manufactured by us. Light formation by LED-panels mounted on two Vargarda constructions. Each 5,5 mtr’s long. Ericsson AB, a leading cellular products company, has a series of complete base stations in form of a mini standard container. Antennas and towers are needed. Supplied 12 m M25W model of tower is during the transport packed inside the cellular base container. All sections are in kit form having an individual length of only 1,98 meters. Special attachment construction onto container upper frame. Close to the Globe is Johanneshov Stadium holding six sets of double constructions for the LED spotlights. Two of them seen here. Specially constructed foot part having hinges and mounting for lower frame of container. Enhancing the tower work at site. Our tower model M38W has a special accessory by means of a large specially constructed hinge in stainless steel. This way the M38W may be equipped with hinges along the total length. Making erecting a 60 m tower less troublesome in hard places. Hinge in stainless steel Automatic lock Antenna support consisting of a tower is solely represented as enormous constructions for cellular phone base stations but small towers for short wave antennas. Picture shows a 12 metre mounting tower for a omni directional communication antenna for low frequency bands. The Swedish Force of Defence has this kind of antenna. With a supporting tower as the Vargarda M38W, of course. The antenna is a Discone antenna that goes all the way from ground to top level of the construction type. Main material in the antenna part is wire. Aluminium may be somewhat underestimated now and then. Even though the complete world market has evolved extensively Antenna feeding point at the top of a 12m M38W Vargarda. by using this very light and strong material. Regarding wireless communication towers aluminium has been dominated by steel constructions. Often free standing towers are not requested why aluminium towers are used instead adding increased economy to site construction among others. This is a triangular tower with a 250 mm side. A narrow base tower like this has its place where space is limited and there it does a wonderful work. Resulting in good value for money making this choice a good one. The M25W maintains unsupported at a length of 6 metres when correctly installed even in winds of 25 metres a second. The top section may house a rotator and will fit most of the models marketed. Top tubing is let through a top plate bushing fitting tube diameter of 50mm’s. Only 3m is above the snow masses leaving the rest of the The M25W is very well suited for tower beneath. In the polar areas snow comes in a lot. Among our customers chosing the M25W one may find those having planned long time duties of the tower as well as very short ones erected without a lot of efforts. Normal section length is 3050 mm’s but we do supply other sizes of lengths as well, 6000mm as longest. In short section lengths the M25W may reach a perfect solution in portable or mobile use. For example a 12 metre tower may come packed in short and compact units having a length of less than a metre craving a transport volume of some 100 litre’s only. Of course reusable. Options available are in a lot. Container mounts, steel brackets and what ever you may find necessary. If we don’t have it we make it. Please contact us for further information. Still looking like the earliest ones the M38W has a total delivered length of almost 100 kilometres at this date. No wonder we have been calling it our standard don’t you think? The very construction is as simple as genius. Low weight, widely framed and at the same time very strong. Because of the large amount of request during the past 30 years the M38W has gotten involved in a long series of different applications where the demands have been strength combined with the low mass. This tower consists of three different parts that differ on just a few points, the Top Section, Middle Section and Lower Section. The Top and Middle sections normally have ladder steps on one side while the Lower Section does not. The Top section is normally supplied with a top plate having a tubing let through for an outer diameter of 50mm’s as well as a mounting plate about 750 mm’s lower. The Lower Section has hinges attached to the foot part which in turn is attached to the underlaying surface by three heavy bolts. A joint coupling kit consists of three coupling profiles and in total 24 bolts, washers and nuts. Tools needed are just a couple of wrench keys. Fitting is extensive. The coupling joints are normally supplied fitted onto the Middle Section and Top Section at the downward direction. This way only half of the joint bolt set has to be attached to complete the joint and build the tower. The Top Section may be supplied in different versions by request. Top Section A - equipment mount plate for rotator and top tubing Top Section B - equipment mount plate for non rotating top tubing Top Section C - only top plate without equipment mount plate In ordering the Top Section let us know what holes are necessary and we will supply the equipment mount plate ready-to-go for customers needs. Ladder steps will be supplied on one, two or all three sides of the section at request. Of course, the ladder steps may as well be deselected. The total building height of M38W depends on what amount of the Middle Section is supplied. Whenever needed one or more Middle Sections may be added to an existing tower installation. The perfect fitness makes disassembly as well as reassembly an easy task why adding sections at any point in time will be at a minimum of effort. Ladder steps will be supplied on one, two or all three sides of the section at request. Of course, the ladder steps may as well be deselected. Top Section Middle Section Lower Section The Lower Section is to be mounted on a flat surface. Five bolts in total including washers and nuts come with the section. Two of them are M12x120 to be used for hinge attachment to the flat surface underneath. Preferably wet concrete. The three remaining are M20x250 intended to be mount into the same surface inside the triangle foot part of the tower. These bolts hold the section in place on th surface. If requested for a prefabricated bolt form may be supplied, called M38W-DOCK which is intended to be sunk into wet concrete instead of M38W-DOCK the five individual bolts thus saving time building the tower mounting block. Another option is the M38W-STEELPLATE. This plate is 550x550x10 mm’s and carries the three foot holding M20x250 bolts prewelded onto the plate. The hinge bolts are to be mounted in prearranged positions as well. The plate has corner holes for easy attachment to any surface or structure suitable. The M38WSTEELPLATE has a non corrosive finish. Sites are made to match what we all call changeability and influence of new technology affecting us. Time makes no change to the tower but to the need of it. The kind of communication asked for changes simultaneously as new technology. Looking back in time the two-way-radio was a big opportunity to human kind when it was introduced during1960-70. Years after this technology extended into something that was as usual as anything. Communication towers for two-way-radios where built rapidly all over the world. The 1990’ies represent a time of new technology. The cellular phone was made a common item to everyone. A new tower building boom. Today the two-way-radio is not a big issue while cellular has become usual to everyone. While Internet has become wireless. Such a travel makes it important to use what already is built and ready to be reshaped and refitted. The M38W is very well shaped to be mounted to surfaces not withstanding heavy loads thanks to the low mass of the tower itself. To reduce the efforts of such an installation the STEELPLATE may be used preferably. When fixed in place the tower is erected by use of the attached hinges. As an example an M38W making a 12 metre tower weighs less than 70 kg’s. Completely equipped for common use the applied equipment in and along the tower may result in some 200kg’s in total. Using the STEELPLATE this makes no more than 82 kg’s per square meter in total surface pressure. Less than a humans foot. This kind of installation has been Concrete base instead of a delivered in mass to Governmental SteelPlate facility works as well. Authorities among others. During the 30 years of M38W manufacturing and supply the tower has gotten good use in a large amount of places in the world. Wind Measurement with the M38W Since the 1990’es the energy market has grown more and more towards wind energy. Requests of low mass towers have increased. To achieve a good estimation of the wind properties at a possible wind power site measurements need to be done during a long period of time. Measuring the wind is done a by using a horizontal pole holding the measuring point at least 5 tower widths out from the tower to avoid wind turbulence. This fact puts demands on a tower. A steel tower would manage this without hesitation but economy and mass often set another direction of planning. Lowest cost possible is requested for as well as strength. Because of these simple facts the M38W tower is a premium choice. Depending on the centre of gravity occurring in a slimmed tower compared to a wider one the distance between the guying levels along the mast need to be carefully set. By expertise and experience the M38W may be built to 100 metres by using a specially designed lifting cage. The M38W is delivered with ladder steps in case the build work is to be accomplished by climbing while using a ginpole to lift each section into place. Build by using a helicopter or crane are other ways. The lack of a constructed road to the site of the tower for wind measurement may be an important fact to be overcome. Hence using a lifting cage makes the initial cost of doing an estimation of future economy well kept at a lowest. Contact us for further information. Easily forgotten is the transportation costs of the tower to the site where it is to be erected. Normally a very high cost are included and a tremendous bulky transport facility is needed at the least. The M38W is especially well suited for organisations having an immediate need of a minimum transport volume. This fact is an extremely strong issue with the M38W as being able to function as a tower within a short time after the alarm clock starts sounding. International organisations may demand a tower storing place at a minimum of space and effort as well as a maximum efficiency in transport dynamics. As the M38W is designed with deep insight into these needs each three metre tower section is supplied in a tubular box only 85 millimetres thick and 3 metres long. In the same tubular box all necessary parts are included. Even the tools if requested for. A complete tower section delivered as a kit. The A person who never before assembled a kit package is tubular at an 85 mm’s thickness and 3 m section may have to spend two or three hours to put length. A very low weight combined in a very low together an M38W section for the very first time. transport volume. Building up experience and routine those hours will become all the time needed to fully assemble, let say, a 9-12 metre tower being 1-2 people. Included in each kit is an assembly instruction. The tubular box may be reused to hold the disassembled section if and when a tower is dismounted after use. The M38W mainly consists of three different section types; Top- Middle and Lower Section. All delivered in the same kind of tubular box. Of course a complete tower also have some parts not possible to box in this kind of tubular thus packed in a square box measuring 0,5x0,5x0,14 metres (0,035 cbm) easy to carry. Inside this box are the top plate, base foot, guy wire attachment and the bolts needed for the base. Also other parts if requested for. A kit may be stored away in any kind of place as long as the humidity is kept low. High humidity will not affect the tower parts but the tubular box and the paper instruction. A packed kit will easily be handled in an elevator to the intended level of storage. In opposite to a ready assembled section a kit represents a slightly higher cost depending on package arrangement but the big saving in transportation cost is the issue. This is a very simple and efficient way to extend the usage of an existing small M38W tower or have it supplied along with the order of a complete SLEIGH TOWER. Using a SLEIGH is a very comfortable way to handle large or small antenna systems or measuring equipments, even large spotlights or public speakers. Equipment needing lots of overhauling or service are easily levelled up and down within just a few minutes of winding a handle all the way down to the ground at the base level. The upper part of the SLEIGH is cranked up to the top of the tower. The handle is very easy to use and time consumed for a complete up and down cycle is short. Guy wire eyes are mounted on the SLEIGH top. Since this option was constructed by us in the 1990’es a great amount has been delivered to already existing towers as well as newly installed. At a complete delivery of SLEIGH and M38W tower together the include parts are aside the very tower and sleigh the steel wire of 5mm diameter, the pole keeping the winch, the tower top keeping the wire rolls, base foot roll and the safety lock with its wire. When fully lowered total length is 5,9 metres to top plate level. At fully erected the top plate is at 15 metres above ground. The top section part is ready for top tubing having a diameter of 50mm’s. The equipment or rotor plate is 0,75 metres below the top and represents a space able to hold even very large rotators. The MT15W has guying attachments at the top level of each of the two highest sections. In calm weather guying is not necessary. High level of comfort is achieved in doing service and maintenance to antennas or other equipment being top mounted by tilting the lowered tower over its base part at a hinge hight of less than 2 metres. Two heavy duty winches are supplied with the MT15W. One for tilting the lowered tower and the other for the telescopic function. Our specially developed construction and profiles has a shape making trailing along the corner legs working. Thanks to the extremely low weight of the sections because of the aluminium material the effort put in cranking is at a minimum. The equipped steel wires in the MT15W consists of 6x19 wires at a material standard of ISO2408. This wire is capable of 1300 kg’s. The telescoping part with the three sections weighs only 95 kg’s. The testing facility of Volvo Cars is place where a very special type of horizontally put very long lattice construction were to travel in high velocity parallel to the ground. We made that real. The Swedish Force of Command had a negative tower meaning it was mounted beneath the water surface. Isn’t that a negative height? The tower at highest level was erected at 7500 metres above the sea level during a climbing expedition to the Mount Everest and K11. In this particular case the kit system was the most sufficient solution as the entire tower was carried from the last part of the road to the camp site. Polar areas as well as tropical areas are also harbouring our products and are most probably still there. Aluminium is a fantastic material and by using the correct alloy and by having it formed by a talented producer the end user product is just as brilliant as the material itself!
