II. ANSWERS TO SUBMITTED QUESTIONS:
1. Does the interior require explosion proof installation for electrical?
A. For this work explosion proof components are only required in enclosed structures.
The existing components on the interior of the magazines are rated as explosion
proof. The work to be performed to connect to the existing Magazine Load Centers
on the magazine exterior shown by Detail 7 on Sheet E-2 does not require
explosion proof components.
2. Is there a catalog number or a brand specification for the ground test station?
A. ERICO’s Earth Rod Inspection Box PIT-03, or equal, is suitable for use as the
Ground Test Station as an alternative to an eight inch ID steel pipe with matching
cover as shown by Detail 5 on Sheet E-2. The test station should not be located in
a position subject to heavy traffic. If a non-conductive enclosure/cover is used
(such as the ERICO unit) a ground connection shown on the steel pipe wall is not
necessary.
3. The Ground Test Station Detail on sheet E-2 shows it to be within a steel pipe,
but does not note the pipe dimensions or type of cover. Please clarify.
A. See the answer to question #2 above.
4. The Proposed Pad Layout shown on E-3 utilizes the same symbol for all ground
rods, does this mean all locations or ground rods are Test Stations, or only the
one noting the detail?
A. The single Ground Test Station is located at the position as noted on Sheet E-3.
5. Is there a specific “Junction Box”, as it appears to be a fitting in the detail, or is it
a type of box?
A. The magazines are equipped with a single phase Load Center that is pre-wired to
the existing devices in or on the magazine enclosure. The Contractor shall connect
the power and ground feed to the Load Center of the individual magazines. The
"junction box" as shown on Detail 7, Sheet E-2 could be a conduit fitting or could be
eliminated if the actual conditions permit direct connections to the Magazine Load
Center and all work is performed per NEC.
6. Is the contractor required to provide the wire from the Magazine Panelboard?
A. The Contractor is to provide the raceways and wiring from the Magazine
Panelboard (as shown on Detail 6, sheet E-2) to the individual Load Centers on
the Magazines (as shown on Sheet E-3).
THIS ADDENDUM MUST BE ACKNOWLEDGED ON THE BID FORM IN THE RFB

Magazine Load Center?
A. The Contractor is to provide the raceways and wiring from the Magazine
Panelboard (as shown on Detail 6, Sheet E-2) to the load center on the individual
magazines. The "junction box" as shown on Detail 7, Sheet E-2 could be a conduit
fitting or could be eliminated if the actual conditions permit direct connections to the
Magazine Load Center and all work is performed per NEC.
8. Can Contractor personnel utilize restroom facilities at the Public Safety Training
Center?
