The Cristal-Flo™ series are permanent media high-rate sand filters of 15", 17", 20", 24" and 30" diameter (17", 20", 24" and 30" for side-mounted) able to accommodate large and small pools, offering the best combination of economy, performance, durability and ease of maintenance. The tank, corrosion-resistant, one-piece, extra-thick molded thermoplastic assures long service life. Topmounted or side-mounted corrosion-resistant multiport selector valve is included. Furthermore, they are provided with a convenient large tank winterizing drain and a continuous air relief system. Sand/gravel not included.
ClearPro Technology : The N° 1 sand filter in the world is now capable of filtering pool water like never before. The innovation lies in a patented component positioned inside the filter: a porous tube, permeable enough for water to be able to cross through without pressure loss, but capable of acting as an efficient barrier against the finest particles, such as dust, algae and pollen. Result: water so clear that no other sand filter lacking in ClearPro Technology® is able to offer. Maintenance of the filters remains however very simple, as it requires less maintenance than cartridge-type or diatomaceous filters.

The Pro-Valve will allow your pool control system to perform automated backwash on your sand filter.
The system can work with any pool automation system having an output dedicated for backwashing.
The ProValve is actuated by air pressure (compressor is not included). When activating the 230V pilot Valve included with the ProValve, this pilot valve allows for the main cylinder in the valve to move down from filter to backwash position. The pilot valve is connected to your backwash controller. In case of a power failure during the backwash operation, the valve will return to the ‘filter position’.

The Blue Lagoon Flow-Matic is an automatic backwashing system that fits on all side mounted sand filters. It replaces the traditional multiport valve and will reduce the total pressure loss due to its unique flow design. The Flow-Matic has 4 automatic 3-way valves and a touch screen controller. The controller automatically starts/stops the circulation pump and operates the valves for Backwash, Rinse and Filter positions. The user can decide how often the Flow-Matic performs a backwash. Besides the automatic backwash function the user can activate an extra backwash at any time by touching the backwash function in the controller. Backwash and Rinse duration can be defined by the end user. Manual functions for recirculation and draining to waste are also available in the controller.

WHAT IS AFM?
AFM is an advanced filtration media designed to replace filter grade sand in pressure filters and gravity flow filters. AFM is far superior to a good quality filter sand. Changing from sand to AFM will result in some major improvements to the performance of your filtration system. AFM is manufactured and activated from reprocessed glass by Dryden Aqua. AFM is therefore an environmentally sustainable product.
WHY SHOULD YOU USE AFM?
AFM is a direct replacement for sand in all pressure or gravity flow sand filters. In all applications tested by Dryden Aqua over a period of 5 years, AFM has proved to be superior to a high quality filter sand. AFM will remove smaller particles from the water. Under controlled conditions using 16 x 30 sand, at a flow of 10 cubm/hr/sqm sand removed approx. 90% of all particles down to 10 microns. AFM grade 1 under the same conditions reduced particle size down to 5 microns. In addition to removing solids by physical processes, AFM has a surface -ve charge which allows it to remove very small particles and organic modules by surface adsorption. AFM is excellent at removing +ve ions such as iron and manganese. In addition to the surface -ve charge we have developed surface catalytic properties for AFM. When AFM is used to filter water containing at least 1mg/l of dissolved oxygen, the AFM will dissociate the oxygen molecule to generate two free radicals of oxygen.
The free radicals provide a degree of surface disinfection as well as cracking organic molecules on the surface of the AFM. The performance of sand deteriorates, due to surface contamination. However AFM is largely self sterilizing and is cleaned with approx. 50% less back-flush water. The life of AFM may therefore span the life of the filter. In the tertiary treatment of sewerage the media can last for 5 years, in clean water applications it is likely to be in excess of 15 years.
HOW TO USE AFM
AFM is very easy to use. It is a direct replacement for sand in all pressure or gravity flow sand filters. Simply remove the sand and replace with
AFM. In all applications and water flowrates tested, AFM out-performed sand. However in both cases, best performance is achieved using the slowest water flowrate. The filter should be layered with either pea gravel or grade 2 AFM as the bottom layer. The quantity of base material will depend on filter design, however, it is normally 30% of the total bed volume. Grade 1 AFM is placed on top of the grade 2.
Chemical Composition:
Si0² 74%, Na²O 11%, CaO 10%, MgO 3%, Al²O³ 1%.
AFM is processed to have a very low dust content, however, the dust does not contain any free silica like sand. Free silica is carcinogenic and can cause serious respiratory disease. AFM is therefore safer to use than sand.

THE TREATMENT WHICH ADAPTS TO YOUR NEEDS
- The combined low-salinity hydrolysis and electrolysis unit offers optimal cleaning with minimal chlorine
production.
- The system’s action provides perfect disinfection of the water using a minimum of salt.
In water with a low conductivity (from 500 mS) OH-, ozone, hydrogen peroxide and oxygen will be automatically produced for the disinfection of water. Only 1,5gr NaCl/l is needed.
The principle of disinfection is based on the separation of H and O atoms of the molecule of water (H20) in order to generate active substances with a strong potential for disinfection (stronger than chlorine!).

Hydrolysis : Water (H2O) consists of two parts 2Hydrogen (H2) and 1 part of Oxygen (O). Hydrolysis means “splitting water”. When electric tension is going through the water, the chemical connection will be broken. The negative loaded oxygen (or ions) will move to the positive electrode (anode) With the following electrochemical reaction:
Electric tension + 2 H2O = 2 H2 + O2
With Hydrolysis there are also other chemical reactions that take place. It will also produce specific ions that can oxidize and do additional disinfecting work. Hydrolysis oxidation
The principle of this operation is based on the ability of the copper (Cu+) and the silver (Ag +) as flocculent and antibacterial agents that together with a hydrolysis system to separate water molecule to generate oxygen, ozone and hydrogen peroxide, they achieve an integral water processing of oxidation-flocculation without chemical products.
The Hydrolysis. The water (H2O) is composed of 2 parts of hydrogen (H2) and 1 part of oxygen (O).
Hydrolysis signifies, etymologically, disorder by the water. When the electric current passes through the water breaks the chemical link, the negative loads or ions of oxygen emigrate to the positive electrode (anode).
In the HYDROLYSIS numerous secondary chemical reactions exist, that also produce ionic species with being able to oxidise and acts as an additional disinfectant. The table shows the different Redox potential values of the elements that are produced by hydrolysis in compare with other oxidizing elements.
Cu/Ag Ionization.
Jointly a Cu-Ag IONIZER enormously powers the efficacy of the hydrolysis, permitting that the antibacterial and algaecide power of the Cu-Ag ionization system be completed by the high oxidation rate of the Hydrolysis system, acting jointly in a free and natural cycle without the addition of chemical products! SUGAR VALLEY
The Vistapool Control System enables the consumer or swimming pool maintenance company to remotely control the settings of a
Vistapool swimming pool system.
The Sugar Valley controller has to be fitted with a WIFI Direct Module. The WIFI Direct Module connects with the WIFI signal of the home. Should this standard WIFI signal not be strong enough, you should use a standard WIFI Repeater. The Vistapool Control
System can be controlled through a PC, tablet or smartphone. In case the Sugar Valley devices are fitted with a redox - pH sensor and a pH dosage pump, you can manipulate the pH and redox value. Should the controller be connected to a heater, pump and/or illumination device, these options can be remotely controlled as well. With the optional In/Out Module, you can serve an additional 4 devices (Aux 1 to Aux 4).
The Sugar Valley system can be controlled with the Vistapool Control System through a web browser on your PC, tablet or smartphone. You can see an example of a screen display below.

General information on the use of UV-C disinfection for pool water
UV-C light at a particular wavelength (253,7nm) is a very powerful germicide. It deactivates and renders harmless waterborne pathogens that are completely unaffected by chlorine based disinfectants. Examples of dangerous pathogens (viruses and cysts) neutralised by UV-C light are Cryptosporidium parvum and Giardia lamblia; chlorine will not affect these.
UV-C cannot, however, be used on its own. This is because after the pool water has been subjected to treatment with UV-C, it is disinfected but not disinfectant. A secondary disinfectant must be added to the water to ensure that the water actually in the pool is disinfectant as well as disinfected. The most commonly used secondary disinfectants are chlorine based chemicals.
Although chlorine is a good disinfectant (however not as powerful as UV-C), it has one major drawback. As a by-product of the disinfection process, chlorine combines with bathers body fluids in the pool water and forms chloramines. Chloramines are unpleasant substances that cause eye, skin and nose irritation, breathing difficulties for young children, an unpleasant swimming pool
”chlorine” smell and last but not least, damage to the fabric of the pool such as tiles, grouts, handrails and other fittings.
A second advantage of the treatment of pool water with UV light is that it destroys chloramines, thus reducing or even practically eliminating the undesirable side effects mentioned above of the use of chlorine based disinfectants.
The Blue Lagoon range offers the solutions mentioned above. The economical comparison of the various solutions depends very much on pool size, design and usage. The capital and running costs and capital costs of disinfection systems should be considered for every pool on a case by case basis.

BLUE LAGOON
The Blue Lagoon UV-C Tech will ensure that your pool water is clean, fresh and clear in an efficient and environmentally-friendly manner. The UV-C radiation neutralizes bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms and stops them from multiplying. This device is able to reduce the chlorine concentration up to 50-80%!
In addition, the stainless steel interior ensures the reflection of the UV-C rays, thereby increasing the efficiency up to 35%. Thanks to the Blue Lagoon UV-C Tech, your swimming pool water will be disinfected efficiently and safely, and the quality of your water will remain excellent. The UV-C Tech is equipped with a special T5 UV lamp with a unique socket. This lamp is not general available, so your customers will come back to you for a new lamp.
The UV-C Tech Amalgam includes a flow switch that will turn off the lamp when the flow is too low. The UV-C Amalgam lamp is not affected by temperature fluctuations in the water and generates a constant, powerful radiation. Amalgam UV-C light is known as being the most powerful UV-C light available on the UV-C market.

Operation
The Master Blaster is designed to treat highly polluted water. It is suited for all kind of water treatment and can even be used for the production of ultrapure water, semiconductor-, pharmaceutical- and cosmetic industry. Other applications: swimming pools, process water treatment and aquaculture. The reactor is made of HDPE with two flanged connectors. The unit uses three or six high performance 325 watt low pressure amalgam UV-C lamps, electronic ballasts, an alarm indicator light and a UV sensor at 254 nm. All electronic components come in a separate controller cabinet. In the Master Blaster, a UV-C radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm is generated by the special Amalgam UV-C lamps, ensuring a lethal effect on micro-organisms. BLUE LAGOON
This revolutionary combination of ozone and UV-C makes a pool with a minimal amount of chlorine possible! With this Blue Lagoon Ozone UV-C unit on your pool system you´re able to keep your pool water fresh, crystal clear and especially hygienic clean. This device is able to reduce the chlorine concentration up to 50-80%! You connect the ”Blue Lagoon Ozone UV-C” on to your swimming pool system. Using a pump, the water is pumped into the unit through the supplied reactor. Because of the water pressure in the reactor, air is sucked through the Venturi system. Air is sucked into the unit via the air valve and flows through the area between the quartz glass and the ozone UV-C lamp. Because air enters the unit via the lamp, it becomes loaded with ozone particles that were generated by the special ozone UV-C lamp, which produces 0.6 grams of ozone. After it has passed the ball valve, the ozone enriched air is then mixed with water in the reactor. The oxidation and sterilisation take place here, and a powerful disinfection process is achieved. The water-ozone mixture is then exposed to the UV-C radiation of the lamp. The lamp has a double function, producing ozone and UV-C light at the same time. The ozone particles in the water are completely broken down again by the UV-C device immediately after they have completed their function. This takes place because the ozone is mixed with water as it passes through the lamp for the second time. Connections: Ø63mm.Please notice the correct grounding!! (See page 53).

The Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer will clean the water in your swimming pool through copper electrolysis. We recommend to use this device in combination with a UV-C device for the best result. The Blue Lagoon Copper
Electrolyzer will, before the water goes back to the pool, be mounted between the pipes. The swimming pool water then flows through the housing of the Blue Lagoon Copper Electrolyzer. A copper unit, or Electrolyzer, is positioned within the housing, and the copper unit discharges a minimal amount of copper into the water flowing through the housing. These copper ions (Cu2+) in the water have a positive charge and destroy the cell walls of algae, bacteria, viruses and other primitive organisms. As the cell wall is thereby damaged, these organisms are no longer able to take up any nutrients, and are therefore unable to multiply. The process of applying a positive charge to copper is called copper electrolysis. The copper in the water acts as a disinfecting buffer in your swimming pool. Thanks to the Blue Lagoon

You know the problem: a swimming pool/pond without extra heating is only pleasantly warm for about 3 to 4 weeks during the summer
- a very short amount of time compared to the high investment and high maintenance a pool requires. An indoor pool even needs to be heated the complete year, which, considering the conventional energy sources, costs a lot of money and is not very environmental friendly. There is an other possibility! The heating of pools is the perfect application for the free and environmental friendly solar energy. Because no high temperatures are needed, but relatively a large amount of water needs to be heated, it is very effective to operate these installations at a high flow rate and on a relatively low temperature. OKU collectors are moulded in one peace and are colored homogeneous black. The system can normally be used with the existing filter pump. Corrosion and pool water resistant. The
(pool)water is pumped directly through the collectors. OKU collectors are frost resistant and can hold human weight.
There are 3 easy connection variations:
1. with the filter pump over a automatic 3-way ball valve with thermostat.
2. with an own pump and thermostat in a circular flow.
3. with an own pump, thermostat and plumbing, disconnected from the filter system.
See table on the right for the recommended collector size in
% of the pool size for outdoor pools with covers or indoor pools (beginning of may up to september). Temperature increase 4 - 7°C in comparison with not heated pools. Without a cover the collector size ought to be 50% bigger than the sizes in the table on the right. The local differences in hours of sun per day can in- or decrease the collector size with 20%.
Pumps : recommended flow rate is 150 up to 250 liters per m² collector surface per hour. The recommended capacity of the pump can be easily calculated: the collector surface x 200 liters. The pressure loss can be determined by taking the difference in height between the water level and collectors and add 5 metre.

Heat pumps are an ideal solution
• The most economic and efficient solution. Without sunshine, the air is still full of energy. With a heat pump you will enjoy both comfort and wellness as well as lower energy costs.
• Operation principle
Heat pumps exploit the physical properties of a volatile evaporating and condensing fluid. The heat pump compresses the fluid to make it hotter on the side to be warmed, and releases the pressure at the side where heat is absorbed. The working fluid, in its gaseous state, is pressurized and circulated through the system by a compressor. On the discharge side of the compressor, the now hot and highly pressurized vapor is cooled in a condenser, until it condenses into a high pressure, moderate temperature liquid. The condensed refrigerant then passes through an expansion valve. The low pressure liquid refrigerant then enters the evaporator, in which the fluid absorbs heat and boils. The refrigerant then returns to the compressor and the cycle is repeated.
• Extremely low power consumption (COP 5,5)
80% of the energy is supplied from the outside air. 20% electric energy is needed to run the heat pump. The heat pump will reach an efficiency up to 5,5 (550%). This efficiency is determined by dividing the useful energy supply with the used energy to run the compressor. This means that only 20% of the energy must be purchased (as electricity) and 80% is supplied free of charge by nature!
In other words: every Euro spent on energy gives you 4 Euro of warmth. You will only depend on your energy supplier for 20%! To compare the energy consumption with other systems: normal gas heater: 109%; condensing gas heater: 93%; electric heating: 100%; heat pump: 20%.

For swimming ponds systems without self-priming pool pump there is a interesting application for the Dolphin Bio: remove the filter cartridges and use the hose set. Connect the suction hose to a submersible dirty water pond pump (type Forza, AquaForte, etc.) that is positioned under water level. The dirty water can be transported to a pre-filter (i.e. a sieve filter) to remove larger waste particles without losing precious matured pond water.

1. Manual brush vacuum cleaner: here you have a choice to work with or without the internal filtration. Due to the unique technical concept you cannot only clean all surfaces (even as straight as a line) but also remove the deposits/growth. Algae will be removed completely. Thanks to the unique brush disc and suction technique the Tosstec can be operated with one hand.
2. Sludge cleaner: by adapting the suction house you will have a floating sludge remover that will follow you during the job. You do not have to carry the unit or be afraid that it will fall into the water. With strong pollution you can pump out the water unfiltered through a hose or pump it through an external filter. With light pollution you can use the internal filter so there is no water loss!
3. Mid 2016, the basic model can be converted into a robot. The robot is designed to clean rimless. The fast rotating brushes at the front complement the slow turning central brush disc to achieve cleaning over the full width of the unit up to the water line and into the corners. This will reduce manual cleaning to a minimum for the areas that are too small for the robot. The springy running gears will even allow to clean gently sloping surfaces.
Using one of the most effective filter systems
By using an external filter or one of the two internal filters, you can clean without water loss. Due to the patented filter cleaning system of the internal filter disc (110 micron) it is now possible to clean for a long time without losing suction power, until the waste collector is full. This even makes the use of an extra fine filter disc possible (45 micron or 0,045 mm)!
On top of this all, it is also the most quiet cleaner on the market!

Controlling horseflies without chemicals!
Horseflies are a very painful nuisance when they bite humans and animals to feed on blood. Their larvae hibernate in damp conditions around watercourses, lakes, ponds or marshy ground. The adults emerge from April onwards, presenting a constant problem to nearby horses, cattle and people. The H-trap has been cleverly designed to take advantage of the horseflies natural behaviour, with independent tests showing a 90- 95% reduction in populations.
Function:
Using 'nature' to trap. The horsefly uses sight not smell to find its prey, so the
H-trap has a large inflated rubber ball that the fly believes is an animal, on which it is tempted to land and bite. After trying unsuccessfully, the horseflies will leave the ball. Since the horseflies are vertical flyers, they can only fly upwards through the funnel and are lead into the transparent collection bin. From this bin they cannot escape.

How to get the best out of your H-trap:
- To maximise interception of horseflies before they reach their target prey,
identify their likely flight paths from damp areas (ponds, riverbanks, etc.) to
where humans or animals congregate.
- Decide if more than one H-trap is required (max. up to 5 horses or 10.000 m2 (100 x 100 m)
- Position your H- trap(s) between these areas, but closer to places where animals congregate
e.g. stable yards.
- Place your H-traps early, preferably just before the first adult horseflies emerge in April.
- Check traps weekly, emptying and topping up with soapy water as necessary.
- If the H-trap is not catching sufficient numbers of flies, and you are sure adult emergence has
started, reposition the trap.

CORROSION
Although most devices, ladders, etc. in swimming-pools are made of stainless steel, oxidation is still possible.
There are two important reasons you have to keep in mind:
1. Insufficient grounding of pool water (pool bonding)
2. Corrosive water
GROUNDING: every pool must be grounded independently (i.e. not to the electricity network).
This in particular for fibreglass/polyester pools, pools with salt electrolysis and pools with stainless steel parts (pool ladders, UV-C units, etc.). A special grounding set ensures that potential differences created by static electricity, will be lead away. This will prevent depositing and/or oxidation to the pool, parts or technical equipment.
HINT: Use the new Flow Chamber (see page 4-
14) as grounding chamber. This flow chamber has room for 4 sensor connections (12 mm), but can also be used for an earth wire, so that the water has a direct connection with the earth electrode.
SALT: for Stainless steel 316 devices (such as
UV-C lamps) the maximum salt concentration is 5 grams/litre for salt electrolysis systems.

Examples of Stainless Steel 316 devices, which are damaged by corrosive water and/or grounding problems.
These are no manufacturing or material faults, so they are not covered under warranty.
2. Corrosive water
The tap water that is used to (re)fill up the pools normally has a constant and known composition. By adding chemical products for disinfection, pH regulation and by heating and moving the water, this composition changes. Pool water might turn corrosive (calcium dissolving) and can slowly dissolve the existing lime (in concrete and in joints between the tiles). Metals (ladders, heaters, UV-C devices, etc.) can also be affected.
Reversely, the water can also have calcium precipitating characteristics that can turn the water cloudy and the walls and floors can be beset by lime scale deposits.
To determine, whether the water is neutral, corrosive or calcium precipitating, you can use the so-called "Langelier Saturation Index".
The Langelier saturation index (LSI) is a calculated number used to predict the calcium carbonate stability of water. It indicates whether the water will precipitate, dissolve, or be in equilibrium with calcium carbonate. The LSI is expressed as the difference between the actual system pH and the saturation pH .
The formula is as follows: pH + TF + AF + CF - 12,1 pH: The measured pH-value of the pool water
TF: The influence of the water temperature in the formula
AF: The influence of the alkalinity in the formula (measured as hydrogen carbonate HC03 - or as calcium carbonate CaCO3)

Correction in case of a too low saturation index:
In case of a negative saturation index, below -0.3, a correction is recommended. The saturation index must be increased. This can be realised by increasing the sum of factors, by increasing one or more parameter values.
The measuring values are:
- pH-value up to max. 7,6
- Alkalinity up to max. 300 mg CaCO3/l
- Calcium hardness up to max. 200 mg CaCO3/l pH-value
An increase of the pH value with caustic soda or soda can be used as a short-time solution. For a good disinfection result a pH value between 7.1 and 7.3 is the best.
Alkalinity
The increase of alkalinity can be achieved by increasing the hydrogen carbonate content of the water with the help of sodium bicarbonate. If a too low hydrogen carbonate content is the case, it might be caused by a low HCO³ content or by regular loss of the carbonic acid compounds as consequence of water movement or air geysers, you should add a solution of sodium bicarbonate with a dosing system.
Calcium Hardness
Tap water with a low hardness often lack carbonic acid compounds, besides low calcium- and magnesium compounds. As a result a negative saturation index might occur. The concentration of calcium compounds in the water can be increased by adding calcium chloride to the water.
Correction of a too high saturation index:
In case of a positive saturation content of more than +0.3, the saturation index has to be reduced to the value preferred. In contrast to the increase of the saturation factor, the possibility of reduction is more restricted. The reduction of the HCO 3 content is possible by intensive aeration in combination with an automatic pH-correction. The reduction of the calcium hardness is only possible through total or partial water softening with a water softener.
In case of extreme low values for hydrogen carbonate there is a present danger that pH values sink under 5.0. In case of such a value, "chlorine" in the water will be partly available as chlorine gas. Chlorine gases in the water might lead to serious poisoning!
