Utilizing a standard single-gang form factor, the ZC3 and DSC are low voltage lighting controllers that connect to the Encelium ECS system through GreenBus™ cable with standard RJ-45 connectors. Each device can be set-up and modified through Encelium’s Polaris software interface. SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE ZONE CONTROLLER (ZC3) This illustration shows how each component is easily integrated into the Encelium Energy Control System. Each light fixture, sensor and lighting controller is daisy-chained back to the Energy Control Unit (ECU) using prefabricated ‘click & go’ GreenBus™ communication cabling. ECUs typically control individual floors and are linked via an Ethernet Network. Internet or LAN connection allows Windows floor plan based control software to be operated anywhere on the network. For reference, the component shown on this data sheet is highlighted. The ZC3 is a three zone, software configurable lighting controller that provides on/off switching for up to three lighting zones. It is generally located at entry points to a floor or department and is used to “activate” or “de-activate” a lighting zone. The zone status is indicated by an LED display with yellow indicating ON and blue indicating OFF. Where lighting zones are controlled by a time schedule (rather than by occupancy sensors), the ZC3 also allows manual override of the time schedule by simply “reactivating” the zone about to be shut down. During shut down mode, the ZC3 will alternately flash blue and yellow LED’s to indicate to occupants that an override is easy. The user easily accesses PCS by clicking on a light bulb icon appearing in the system tray found on the lower right hand side of their PC screen. With this application, the user can control the light level of each fixture in their workspace or can control all of the fixtures together as a group. Preset lighting scenes may be stored, recalled and modified from this application to suit the individual’s personal preferences or task at hand. Tenant Network PCs with Encelium PCS or Polaris software TENANT NETWORK Encelium ECU Firewall Allows lighting control traffic only Encelium ECU Communication traffic may only be instigated by PC FIREWALL PCS can also be used to control light levels in larger spaces such as boardrooms, conference rooms or auditoriums. In addition to the dimming functionality, PCS can be used to simply turn individual fixtures on or off within that same workspace. Users can only control light fixtures assigned to their workspace according to the configuration of the system. Encelium SSU Remote Access www Communication with Encelium lighting control equipment is established through a connection to the existing local area network. PCS also has the unique capability of acting as a “virtual occupancy sensor” for the system. By detecting keyboard or mouse activity on each PC, PCS provides additional occupancy information to the system to ensure that lights remain in the desired state while a workspace is occupied. TECHNICAL Typical networking connections to enable PCS lighting control. TCP/IP network traffic < 2 kb/s Only a PCS equipped PC can establish a connection with the Encelium ECU and once established, only lighting control traffic is permitted The ECU is a passive device and cannot initiate a connection to networked PCs SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS (PCS) Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7 Min. 1 GHz Processor Min. 20 MB hard drive Min. 512MB RAM Network connection with access to a network-enabled Encelium ECU, Encelium SSU, or the site Encelium Network ENCELIUM PERSONAL CONTROL SOFTWARE (PCS/PCW) WEB ENABLED PERSONAL CONTROL SOFTWARE (PCW) For those clients that desire personal lighting control from their desktop without the installation of the Personal Control Software application on each PC (or without a direct connection to their computer networks), Encelium offers an Adobe Flash web interface that mirrors the functionality of PCS (PCW). R Tenant Network PCs with Encelium PCW Access TENANT NETWORK Tenant Network FIREWALL www FIREWALL Encelium SSU Encelium ECU Each individual can access the interface through their web browser and achieve the same functionality and utility as with PCS with the exception of the “virtual occupancy sensor” feature which is not available with PCW. The PCW user interface is similar to that of PCS but utilizes HTML such that it will be compatible with virtually any web browser, computer operating system or network security settings. The individual fixture dimming control, on/off switching and ability to save and modify preselected lighting scenes is identical to that of PCS. PCS is generally recommended over PCW so that users can take advantage of the virtual occupancy sensor feature of PCS.
