1 Introduction
The CM60 is a core member of the sixth generation control system known as WTC6, developed by
KK Wind Solutions. It is a controller module which is typically used as main controller in a wind
turbine control system.
It contains a powerful processor with fast working RAM, Flash, NVRAM, Ethernet port, EtherCAT
master (LVDS), EtherCAT slave (LVDS), USB 2.0 host, internal Real Time Clock, temperature
monitoring and ready status output.
The CM60 can either be top level controller module, controlling and servicing the communication
and instrumentation network, or it can be set as slave in an existing network, where local
processor power or higher network update frequencies are needed.
Working memory is, for stability and safety purposes, subject to continual ECC control. ECC
enables automatic correction of any single bit error and detection of multiple bit errors.

8 Communication topology
The CM60 can be used in top station and substation configuration. EtherCAT routing is
automatically configured on basis of PS60 “Top select” input X3.3-4.
8.1
Top station mode
When top station is selected on the PS60 module, the first module to the right of PS60 must be a
CM60. EtherCAT ports are configured so PS60 is “the first slave module” in the top level station.
The 2 fibre ports are left open in “standalone” solutions, or connected to one or two substations in
multi station solutions.
8.2
Substation mode
When substation mode is selected, EtherCAT ports are configured for upward connection on fibre
channel 1 (X5+X6). The second fibre channel is left open or connected to the next substation.

8.3
Subnet
Adding a computer module to a substation, leads to a splitting of the EtherCAT network. Modules
to the right of this local computer module are part of a new subnet controlled by this computer.
The computer itself is master in the subnet and at the same time a member of the overlying net in a hierarchical manner.
