R.E.A.C.H.: A collaboration between Oyster River Cooperative School District, Durham
Parks & Recreation Department, and the UNH InterOperability Laboratory to provide
exceptional opportunities for our ORCSD students. Camp R.E.A.C.H is a community-based
summer camp experience for local youth. Unless otherwise specified, all camps
meet Monday through Thursday at Oyster River Middle School.

This six week camp meets Mondays and Wednesdays from
9:30-11:00. The camp will introduce students to the basic
concepts of computer science, including programming logic,
use of the commandline, simple script-writing and computer
networking. Projects will include drag-and-drop programming
using the Scratch platform, bash scripting, and hands-on
network setup activities.

DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this online program is to provide an
opportunity for students to continue to build math skills and
become more proficient in mathematics over the course of
the summer. Those seventh grade students that did not meet
the requirements for eighth grade algebra that wish to retake
the assessments must complete coursework. Teachers will be
available for support to supplement the online courses.
Internet access time will be offered during school summer
hours and/or students can go to public hot spots in order to

In this afternoon camp, students will learn how to cast toys in
plastic. We will make silicon molds
and pour liquid plastic into the mold and remove a solid
plastic toy. We can make single pieces or multiple pieces of
the same toy using the same mold. This is the only camp
where kids can learn to manufacture their own toys.

Pre-Camp Extravaganza:
Start your summer off with a little 007 – Secret Agent Lab Action!
That’s right, the week before camp starts (July 7th-11th); we’re offering this special program for a small group of
local agents! Using spy tools, metal detectors, and night vision, you’ll learn the secrets behind 007! Join us for a ½
day (9-12) or full day (9-3:30) of hands-on science fun!

The Hunger Games - Archery
Want to know how Katniss Everdeen learned her bow and arrow skills? Come find out during our Hunger Games
week! Practice your skills each day with our certified instructors from Archery in Motion. You’ll have access to the
best Olympic Style Competition equipment, and also learn about how it all got started!
Cost: $150 ($185 Non – ORCSD Students)
Week 2: July 21st – July 24th
Outdoor Experience
12:00-4:00 p.m.
This week is dedicated to everything outdoors! Go on a hiking adventure; learn
about invasive species, edibles, and local wildlife. Build your own
weatherproof primitive shelter, become an expert in survival skills and tracking
techniques.
Cost: $150 ($185 Non – ORCSD Students)
Week 3: July 28th – July 31st (Grades 4th -7th)
Mad Machines & Crazy Contraptions
12:00-4:00 p.m.
Inspire the inventor and scientist in you. Overcome a series of challenges using basic
materials, simple machines, tips from famous inventors and the most important of all –
your mind. Create catapults, experience shipwreck adventures, and assemble a set of
circuits. While Thomas Edison said, “invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration;”
this week is 100% FUN!
Cost: $185 ($220 Non – ORCSD Students)
Week 4: August 4th – August 7th 12:00-4:00
Broadway Stars
Spend the week on Broadway: acting, playing theater games, creating improv. skits, composing music, and
designing/preparing scenery and costumes. Then, bring all your skills to the big stage during your Star
performance at the end of the week. Cost: $150 ($185 Non – ORCSD Students)
Week 5: August 11th – August 14 th
ARTastic
12:00-4:00 p.m.
There’s something for the ARTist in everyone during this week! Each day begins
with a new theme and challenge to build, paint, draw, mold, create, and design
outrageous masterpieces! Bring your whacky, wild minds, and learn why ART is all
around us!

Week 6: August 18th – August 21st
Unlikely Sports
12:00-4:00 p.m.
Unlikely Sports week is all about wild, funky sports and games
from around the world. Try everything from croquet and
geocaching, to life-sized chess and quittage! Of course, we’ll
throw in some more familiar challenges as well!

Friday, July 18 – Full Day Kayaking (Jackson’s Landing – Oyster River)
Whether you’re an experienced paddler, or just starting
out, this trip will take you to the next level. Spend a day
exploring the beautiful Oyster River. Starting at Jackson’s
Landing, you will paddle toward Little Bay. Keep your eyes
open for the chance to see a swan, great blue heron, fox,
and other wildlife. After getting up close and personal with
some Great Bay islands, you’ll head back to Jackson’s
Landing for kayak games and a debrief of the local
ecosystems discovered.

Friday, July 25th – ½ Day Ropes Course and Leadership Skills
(Browne Center for Innovative Learning)
Embark on a half-day journey to the Browne Center where you’ll experience the power of teamwork, trust,
friendship, and what it means to be a leader. You and your team will work together to solve a series of outdoor,
low-element challenges and puzzles. Get ready to take everything you know, and throw it out the window! We’ll
challenge your mind to think beyond the obvious, and come up with solutions to problems you face everyday.
You’ll come away from this trip feeling renewed, and equipped with the tools to conquer any challenge! Did we
mention you’ll have fun, too?! The Browne Center offers an inclusive environment, practicing the use of Challenge
by Choice and Full Value Contracts. Cost: $50

Friday, August 1st – Water Country
Spend the day splashing, zipping, sliding, and floating at one of New England’s best water parks!
Cost: $50 Bus leaves ORMS at 10AM and returns to ORMS at 4:30
Friday, August 8th – Attitash Mountain Alpine Adventure
A full day for adrenaline-seekers, offering a ton of activities at this ski resort-turned summer recreational
destination! Enjoy full access to the following: Mountain Coaster, Alpine Slide, Waterslides, Mountain Biking,
Airbag Jump, Slacklines, EuroBungy Trampoline, Climbing Wall and Scenic Chair Ride.
Cost: $70 Bus leaves ORMS at 9AM and returns to ORMS at 5PM.
Friday, August 15th – Outdoor Climbing and Rappelling
(Pawtuckaway State Park)
Whether you’re an avid climber or just getting started, you don’t want to miss this
opportunity! Your journey will begin with a short hike in to one of the best toprope climbing sites in Southern New Hampshire. From there, you will have a
chance to learn climbing skills, commands, and belaying techniques. Challenge
yourself to climb all the way to the top, or rappel down to the bottom. With the
small group on this trip, everyone will have plenty of opportunities to explore
Pawtuckaway’s rocky cracks, crags, and boulders! Cost: $60
Bus leaves ORMS at 9AM and returns to ORMS at 5PM
Friday, August 22nd - Saturday, August 23rd – Kayaking and Overnight Camping
(Wagon Hill Farm – Great Bay)
For those who didn’t get enough during our Full Day Kayaking, this one’s for you! Leave from Jackson’s Landing
and paddle all the way to Wagon Hill Farm where you’ll spend the night gazing at the stars and making s’mores!
Outdoor games, kayak races, and primitive shelter building make this the perfect summer adventure trip!
Cost: $125

Monday, August 25th – Water Country
Take your last trip down the Wild Canyon, Double Dive
Boggan, Dragon’s Den, and Geronimo before summer is
over! Spend the day splashing, zipping, sliding, and
floating at one of New England’s best water parks.
Cost: $50 Bus leaves ORMS at 10AM and
returns to ORMS at 4:30
Once you sign up for a camp week and/or adventure trip, you will receive a confirmation email
containing additional details (location, drop off, what to wear, what to bring, etc.).
If foul weather is imminent on the day of an Adventure Trip, the Parks & Recreation Director
will make a final decision to cancel or let the trip run. This decision will be made the NIGHT
BEFORE a trip is scheduled to take place. If the Adventure Trip is cancelled, you will receive an
EMAIL before 8PM. If the Adventure trip is NOT cancelled, you will NOT receive an email (these
details will be outlined once again in your camp/trip confirmation packet).
If an Adventure Trip is cancelled due to foul weather, refunds will be issued.
If an Adventure Trip is ended early due to foul weather, all campers will return to ORMS for the
remainder of the day and no refunds will be issued.
All busses will leave PROMPTLY at time listed for each Adventure Trip.

Fill out separate forms for each child. Please print legibly.
Incomplete registration forms, those without payment, and late registrations will not be accepted.
Checks are made payable to ORCSD or Town of Durham (see registration form). No cash accepted. Please include the camp name
and your student’s first and last name in the memo of the check.
There is an additional $35 per camp fee for families not enrolled in the Oyster River Cooperative School District. If space is available
after April 18, out of district registrations will be considered.

Camps are filled as registration forms and full payment is received, first come, first served. All camps have enrollment minimums
and maximums. You will receive a confirmation email from the instructor as soon as possible.
Payments will only be refunded if the minimum enrollment is not met.
Please write down and make a copy of your student’s registration form so that you can refer to it for the dates, times, and camps
you have signed your student up for this summer.
REFUNDS: There will be no refunds after May 31. Refunds prior to May 31 are subject to a non-refundable program fee of $25 and
may take up to eight weeks to process.
CAMP CANCELLATION: To keep fees as low as possible, a minimum enrollment for each camp is set to cover expenses. If the
minimum enrollment is not met, a camp may be cancelled.
FINANCIAL AID: A limited number of need-based scholarships are available to one child per family for income qualifying families.

with financial hardships. Donations of any amount to our scholarship fund directly help families in need. Thank you for considering

4. I AGREE TO RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS, DISCHARGE, AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE ORCSD and DPR Summer
R.E.A.C.H. Program, its administrators, directors, agents, officers, volunteers, and employees (Releasees) from and
against all claims, demands, actions, and causes of actions for damages I or my child may have due to personal
injury, death, or property damage arising from his/her participation in the program, whether or not the result of
negligent acts or omissions is on part of the Releases.
5. I AGREE TO IDEMNIFY ORCSD and DPR Summer R.E.A.C.H. Program for any damage to the property of ORCSD
and DPR Summer R.E.A.C.H. Program, or the property or person of other participants, caused by my child during
his/her participation in the ORCSD and DPR Summer R.E.A.C.H. Program. IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY
requiring medical attention beyond first aid, I hereby grant permission to a physician or hospital personnel
designated by the ORCSD and DPR Summer R.E.A.C.H. Program personnel to attend to my child. I have read and
fully understand the above release/permission statement.
By signing below, I/we understand and agree to the above, on my/our own behalf, and on behalf of my/our child.
