PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1
Provide materials, equipment and labour to install pool recirculation systems as
required by Provincial and local Building Codes including Ministry of Housing, Ministry
of Labour, Health, and Safety at Work and as specified herein.
1.2
The accepted manufacturers shall be Pentair, Sta-rite, Link, Mermade, Armstrong,
Axiall Corp or better
1.3
The Contractor shall be responsible for achieving the design flow rates for the
filtration system listed under the pump capacities in the specifications...
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1
FITTINGS AND JOINTS
2.1.1
Pool piping shall consist of PVC (Poly-Vinyl Chloride) with Schedule 80 used for
above grade applications and Schedule 40 for below grade applications (ASTM D 1785, CSA - B137.3).
2.1.2
PVC solvent weld fittings shall be Schedule 80, ASTM D-2467, for above grade
applications and Schedule 40, ASTM D-2466, for below grade applications. Fittings
must be CSA -C137.
2.1.3
Solvent weld ASA 15016 PVC flanges shall be utilized for connection to equipment
and valves with line sizes exceeding 2” (50mm).
2.2
VALVES
2.2.1
All valves 2” (50mm) or smaller shall be Schedule 80 PVC full throat ball-type with
Teflon seats.
2.2.2
All valves 3” (75mm) and larger shall be Schedule 80 PVC wafer type with EPDM
seats and lever handles.
2.3
PIPE SUPPORT
2.3.1
Concentrated loads (i.e. valves, flanges, etc.) shall be supported directly or
immediately adjacent to the load.
2.3.2
All elbows and tees shall be supported as close as practical to the fitting to eliminate
torsion stress.
2.3.3
Sharp support or sharp edges shall not be used with PVC pipe.
2.3.4
All valves shall be braced against operating torque.

QUALIFICATIONS
2.4.1
The pool and spa contractor must have completed at least 5 similar installations to the
project as specified. Provide a list of installations and contacts with your submittal.
2.5
APPROVED EQUALS
2.5.1
All submitted products must be approved as equal or as specified a minimum one
week prior to tender closing.
2.6
SYSTEM PERFORMANCE
2.6.1
The Contractor shall be responsible for achieving the design flow rates for the
filtration system listed under the pump capacities on the drawings. Owner to witness
tests.
2.7
SHOP DRAWINGS AND SAMPLES
2.7.1
Mechanical drawings shall clearly show size, locations, clearances (maintenance),
and materials of all piping, circuits, valves, pumps, filters, controls and accessories.
2.8
MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE DATA
2.8.1
The pool mechanical equipment contractor shall supply the following operating and
maintenance instructions:

Six (6) complete and comprehensive identical sets of Operation and Maintenance
Manuals for equipment related to each swimming pool recirculation system. Each set
shall be in a hard cover, loose-leaf binder and shall contain the following:
2.8.3
A reduced size photocopy of the total equipment room pool equipment schematic.
2.8.4
Manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedules.
2.9
RENOVATION SITE VISITS
2.9.1
A qualified representative of the pool equipment supplier shall visit the site after the
installation of such equipment has been completed, and shall, for a period not to
exceed two (2) working days, assist and instruct the Owner’s representative in the
operation of such equipment.

2.9.2
As part of this service the contractor shall, after the installation of equipment, but prior
to the filling of the pool, visit the site with the Advanced Commercial Pool & Spa, and
a representative of the Owner to verify the correct installation of each piece of
equipment.
2.9.3
During the start-up instruction, each item of equipment of each type of equipment and
all controls shall be operated in the presence of the Owner’s representative to ensure
his understanding of the equipment function, the function of individual working parts
and the location of all valves and controls.
2.9.4
The Owner reserves the right to set the period or periods during which instructions
shall be given.
2.10
EQUIPMENT STARTERS
2.10.1
Provide starters for all equipment supplied under this section as specified
2.10.2
Provide all electrical wiring and control wiring including waterlocking of pumps flow
and pressure switches, and as further specified in this section
2.10.3
Provide a stainless steel, fully recessed control panel to contain the remote start/stop
stations for equipment as specified including lamacoid identification. Install within a
150 mm thick wall in a location identified by Owner.
2.10.4
Provide an emergency stop button to deactivate all recirculating pumps. It shall be
clearly labelled and located beside the room entrance door. When used it will activate
an audible and visual signal located by the emergency stop button.
STARTERS AND MOTOR CONTROL CENTRES
2.10.5
Starters for single phase motors shall be manual type, combination switch with
overload relay and pilot light. Provide magnetic starters with overload relays, pilot
lights and contacts where required for automatic control (i.e. thermostat, timer).
2.10.6
Unless otherwise noted, starters for 3 phase motors shall be combination "quickmake" and "quick-break" fused disconnects and full voltage, non-reversing magnetic
starters for across-the-line service. Full protection of each phase shall be included in
the starters by means of one (1) overload relay per phase per starter. Starters shall
be equipped with "hand-off-automatic" switches and pilot light required.
2.10.7
Starters for three phase motors shall include the following:
• Three overload elements sized to suit the characteristics of the motor.
• Manual reset button.
• CEMA I enclosure.
• Auxiliary contacts as required to satisfy interlocking and automatic control
requirements. Include one spare contact for future connection to a Central
Computer System.
• 120 volt fused control transformer inside the starter enclosure where control wiring
extends outside the starter enclosure.
2.10.8
Enclosures for starters located in sprinklered areas shall be EEMAC 2. All other loose
starter enclosures shall be EEMAC 1 unless otherwise noted.

2.10.9
Motor control centres shall be Allen-Bradley of Canada Ltd. Bulletin 2100
"CENTRELINE", 7-1/2" (2.28 m) high, multi-unit control centres, arranged as per the
starter schedule. Each control centre shall be an EEMAC Class 1, type "B" factory
assembled, dead front, floor mounted control centre with tin plated copper bus and an
EEMAC type 1 or 2 enclosure as for loose starters specified above. Starters installed
in control centres shall be as specified above and complete with load wiring and/or
control wiring terminal boards. Motor control centres shall be complete with all
required provisions for electric "line" and "load" side power connections.
2.10.10
Disconnects for motor control centres shall be heavy-duty, C.S.A. approved, front
operated with a handle suitable for padlocking in the "OFF" position and arranged so
that the enclosure cover cannot be opened while the handle is in the 'ON" position.
Fusible units shall be complete with fuse clips for HRC fuses, unless otherwise noted.
Enclosures shall be EEMAC type 1 or 2 as specified for loose starters above.
2.10.11
Provide reduced voltage starters (i.e. Benshaw) on all motors 10 hp and larger.
2.10.12
Starters shall be manufactured by one of the following:
• Allan-Bradley Canada
• Canadian Controllers Limited
• Canadian General Electric Co. Ltd.
• Cutler-Hammer Canada Ltd.
• Klockner-Moeller Limited
• Square "D" Canada
WIRING FOR MECHANICAL
2.10.13
A starter, and/or start/stop station as required, together with required pilot lights,
remote switches and auxiliary contacts shall be supplied for each motor or electrical
item requiring control.
2.10.14
Where individual starters and controls are grouped together, a panel for mounting this
equipment shall be provided.
2.10.15
Install wiring in conduit unless otherwise noted.
2.10.16
Use thin wall conduit up to and including 32 mm size for wiring in ceilings, furred
spaces, in hollow walls and partitions and where not exposed to mechanical injury.
Use rigid galvanized steel conduit for wiring in poured concrete, where exposed and
for conduit 38 mm size and larger. Plastic conduit is not acceptable above ground.
2.10.17
Run conduit and cables in finished areas concealed above ceilings and in partitions.
Run conduit and cable exposed in any unfinished areas such as mechanical rooms,
rooms with no suspended ceilings, service tunnels and penthouses and install at right
angles or parallel to building lines. Boxes shall be cast type.
2.10.18
Wiring shall be RW-90 X-Link type sized to carry 125% of the full load running current
in accordance with the Electrical Code. Wiring shall be minimum No. 12 gauge,
except for control wiring which shall be colour coded No. 14 gauge.
Supply ESA Clearance Certificate once project is complete.

2.11
EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION
2.11.1
The contractor shall install all equipment indicated on specification drawings
according to manufacturer’s instructions and owners approval.
2.11.2
All metal within 3 m of any pool tank to be grounded.
2.11.3
Incorporate work of other trades and supervise installation of such items.
2.11.4
The Contractor shall co-operate with Owner’s Agents.
2.12
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
2.12.1
All pool re-circulation system piping to be encased in concrete or back-filled shall be
pressure tested with water at 170kPa from the valves leading to the pools, for a
minimum of twelve (12) hours.
2.12.2
Pour concrete or backfill only around piping under 170kPa pressure. Monitor pressure
during back-filling, compaction, and concrete pouring.
2.13
INITIAL FILL
2.13.2
When there is sufficient water in the pool to permit the filter system to operate, the
filter system may be activated while continuing to fill.
2.13.3
The Contractor shall monitor the filters continuously during the filling process and
carry out back-washing as required. Add chemicals during the filling process to
achieve the chemical levels described in Section 2.14. After the pool has been filled
raise the temperature of water at a maximum rate of 0.3oC per hour.
2.14
CHEMICAL TREATMENT OF WATER
2.14.1
While the pools are being filled, the water shall be treated to bring the following
parameters to the recommended levels:

2.14.2
Regularly monitor the above levels during the filling process and add chemicals as
required throughout the filling process to maintain these values. The Contractor shall
ensure that the water is properly treated during filling of the pool to prevent any
damage to the grout.
2.14.3
Prior to the initial filling of the swimming pools, the swimming pool equipment supplier
shall conduct the following tests on the source of water and advise the contractor of
the correct types and amounts of chemicals to be added during the filling process:

2.14.4
The qualified representative of the swimming pool equipment supplier shall attend the
filling of the pools and start-up of the pool systems by the contractor.
2.14.5
The Contractor shall be responsible for the initial filling of the pools and heating of the
water. Provide all chemicals required for the initial and subsequent treatment of the
water until takeover by the Owner at the date of Substantial Performance.
2.15
START- UP & COMMISSIONING
2.15.1
The swimming pool equipment supplier shall provide two days for start -up and
commissioning of the swimming pools.
2.16
SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE MAUNAL
2.16.1
The pool contractor shall provide six (6) copies of service manuals pertaining to
operations and maintenance of new mechanical equipment.
2.17
REMOVAL AND DISPOSAL
2.17.1
Pool contractor must remove all existing piping and equipment in the mechanical
room.
2.17.2
Pool contractor is to remove the existing filters from site and dispose of them and all
media. All filter media removed must be disposed of in a legal way through an
accredited disposal service. Disposal records to be turned over to owner.
2.17.3
At any time if tools must be used during the removal process (ie. Cutting torches,
grinders, hacksaws) proper safety measures must be in place so not to damage any
city property.

3.0
SWIMMING POOL EQUIPMENT SPECIFICATIONS
3.1
SWIMMING POOL CIRCULATING PUMP
3.1.1
The pump shall be straight centrifugal type of sufficient capacity to recirculate the
swimming pool volume at the system head (actual operating head of the system shall
be determined and verified by the Equipment Supplier.)
3.1.2
The motor shall be of continuous duty type with a full service factor and shall be
capable of operating the pump under full starting load with a voltage variation of + or 10% from the name plate reading.
3.1.4
The pump and motor shall be non-overloading on any point on their performance
curve and shall be minimum of 65% efficient at the design point. NPSH requirement
shall be 10' of less.

3.1.5
The pump shall be single, end suction type with radially split, top center-line
discharge, self-venting casing. The casing-to-cover gasket shall be confined on the
atmospheric side to prevent blow-out possibility.
3.1.6
Pump construction shall be cast iron, bronze fitted (all bronze) and shall be fitted with
a long-life, product lubricated, drip-tight mechanical seal, with O-ring seat retainer,
designed for the specified maximum temperature and pressure.
3.1.7
The shaft shall be fitted with a Stainless Steel shaft sleeve and be supported by two
heavy duty ball bearings. The design shall allow Back Pull Out servicing, enabling the
complete rotating assembly to be removed without disturbing the casing piping
connections.
3.1.8
The housing shall be hydrostatically tested to 150% maximum working pressure.
3.1.9
The circulating pump shall be a 25 hp 208/3/60. Total pumping capacity shall be 1000
US GPM at 60 ft. (179.4 kPa) TDH.
3.1.10
The pump shall be model 4030-8x8x10 as Manufactured by Armstrong
3.2
SWIMMING POOL FILTER SYSTEM
3.2.1
The filter system specified under this section shall be of a pressurized design and shall
consist of Non-Corrosive Horizontal Hi-Rate Permanent Media filter.
3.2.2
The filter system shall be of the horizontal type requiring 4 graduated layers of media
and shall have a maximum flow of 16 U.S. gallons/minute per square foot (per square
meter) of filter area.
3.2.3
The filter system shall consist of four (4) 32” horizontal filter tank(s) internal overhead
distribution system, internal lower slotted pipe collection system, gauge, internal
automatic air relief, integrally molded drain/dump port. Filters shall be Manufactured by
Mermade Filter model 132-74
3.2.4
Filter Tank
The horizontal filter tanks shall be 32” in diameter with a total length of 69”
with 15.9 sq. ft of filter area. The tanks shall be supplied with Stacking stands for on
site installation. Quantity of 2 Stacking stands required.
3.2.5
Internal Distribution/Collection System
Internal filter tank equipment shall include an upper distribution system and lower
slotted pipe collection system, hydraulically balanced to prevent turbulence and/or
displacement of the filter media during service operation or backwash. Standard laterals
will not be accepted.
3.2.6
Filter Area
The filter plant shall consist of four (4) 32” Horizontal Non-Corrosive Hi-Rate Permanent
Media Filter with a total effective filter area 15.9 sq. ft of filter area each. The filter
system will have a capacity of filtering 210,000 gallons in 4 hours.

3.2.7
Filter Media
Filter media shall consist of 4 layers. The first layer shall be ¼” x ½” Stone, the second
layer 1/8” x ¼” stone, the third layer being 6-20 sand and the final layer uniformly
graded silica sand, which shall be free of limestone or clay. The media shall be # 20,
effective size range .45 - .55 mm with a uniformity coefficient of 1.6 maximum.
3.2.9
Operating Manual
A manual shall be provided with each filter and include, according to ANSI/NSF
Standard 50-1992; drawings, illustrations, operating instructions, charts, installation
instructions, design head loss curve, and parts list to permit proper installation,
operation and maintenance.
3.2.10
Data Plates
Data plates shall be permanent, easy to read and securely attached to the filter tank at
a readily accessible location. Data plates shall contain the following:
- Manufacturers name and address
- Filter model number
- Filter serial number
- Effective filter area in sq. ft. (sq. m.)
- Required clearance (h x w x l) for service and maintenance
- Filtration and backwash design flow rate in USGPM (lps)
- Maximum working pressure
- Steps of operation
- Filtration rate in USGPM/sq. ft. (lpm/sq.m.)
- Media specification if different from media specified in ANSI/NSF 50
- Suitability for swimming pool and/or spa application
-Filters lacking such data plates will not be considered equal and shall not be
accepted.
The filters shall be Mermade Filter model 132-74 as supplied by Advanced Commercial
3.3
3.3.1
SWIMMING POOL CHEMICAL CONTROLLER
An integrated electronic system shall be furnished to continuously monitor and
control the pH level and chlorine residual of the swimming pool water.
3.3.2
Controller shall be a microprocessor-based proportional-dosing chemical treatment
controller designed specifically for the regulation of pH and sanitizer levels of pool and
spa water.
3.3.3
A non-metallic enclosure, with standard 3-prong AC plug, shall house the controller
system. The front cover plate shall be transparent and have a hinged cover with
lockable hasp.
3.3.4
A 2 x16 character alphanumeric Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) shall display the current
pH, Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP), and Parts per Million (ppm) of sanitizer as
well as indicate what action the controller is taking to balance the water chemistry. A
Light Emitting Diode (LED) shall indicate the controller’s mode of operation.
3.3.5
Controller shall have two sealed standard 115 Volt AC outlets for control of chemical
dosing devices. Controller shall have sealed non-metallic connectors for external
hookup.
3.3.6
Operation of the controller shall be performed through the use of a keypad that is
flush with the faceplate and shall not require the removal of the faceplate. A

microprocessor shall be incorporated to perform all monitoring and control functions.
A menu driven structure shall be used to perform all control functions. Menu structure
shall be divided into sections so that the primary operator can restrict programming
access.
3.3.7
In the event of a power failure or controller storage, the program and all settings shall
be retained in memory. When controller is returned to operation, no programming or
reentering of values will be required.
3.3.8
There shall be a choice of sanitizer control either ppm or ORP. Face panel pH, ORP
and ppm controls shall be programmable to limit operator selection of setpoints within
local health code requirements.
3.3.9
Controller shall be capable of proportional, on/off and manual feed control. Standard
dosing for pH and sanitizer control shall be in the proportion to the demand and must
not require use of special proportional band feeders or manual adjustment of feed
control devices. Controller shall have separate and adjustable mixing times for pH
and sanitizer to accommodate different mixing rates of the water.
3.3.10
Controller shall have high and low pH and high and low sanitizer alarms. High and low
pH alarms shall prevent pH and sanitizer feed. As an option, should a low or no flow
condition exist the controller shall disable all chemical-feeding functions and indicate
loss of flow on the face panel. There shall be an alarm for the maximum minutes a
chemical dosing device can run in a 24 hour period as well as an alarm to indicate
when controller is unable to correct a chemical imbalance in an operator specified
number of correction cycles.
3.3.11
All alarm values shall be factory preset and adjustable. Alarm conditions shall be
indicated by the status light, as well as described on the LCD display.
3.3.12
Calibrations (Offsets) to compensate for probe drift shall be done within the
microprocessor menu structure; adjusting knobs or the use of tools is not acceptable.
Manufacturer shall supply a complete instruction booklet covering the installation and
operation of the controller. Telephone support shall be provided.
3.3.13
The electronic module shall be covered by a five-year manufacturer limited warranty.
The remainder of the controller shall be covered by a one-year manufacturer limited
warranty on material and workmanship.
3.3.14

warranty on material and workmanship. An integrated electronic system shall be
furnished to continuously monitor and control the pH level and chlorine residual of the
swimming pool water. The system shall be a Pool Link 103F as manufactured by Link
Automation Inc.
3.4
ACCUTAB CHLORINE SYSTEM
3.4.1
The system shall be Accu-Tab as manufactured by Axiall Corporation and shall be
designed to feed low concentrations of calcium hypochlorite in solution intermittently
or continuously as required for pool applications. The system shall be a single preassembled, package unit with a welded aluminum frame consisting of chlorinator,
electrical box, centrifugal pump and balance tank. System shall use an NSF
Standard 50 listed erosion feeder and tablet combination and shall be capable of
meeting all requirements of the Health Department having jurisdiction over the
installation.

3.4.2
A maximum chlorine solution level of 0.05% (500ppm) shall be maintained to prevent
calcification in system components. Systems producing chlorine concentrations
higher than 0.05% shall not be acceptable.
3.4.3
Delivery shall be by erosion feed technology to control accurate and consistent
concentration limits in the chlorine treatment solution.
3.4.4
The chlorinator shall automatically and continuously feed a limited quantity of chlorine
in solution as needed; when the system is not running, no more chlorine than that
amount which can be fed in one minute or less shall be left in the tank to prevent
dilution. Batch systems preparing excess quantities of solution for delivery over an
extended period of time shall not be acceptable.
3.4.5
A centrifugal pump wired to the system electrical box shall feed freshly mixed chlorine
treatment solution only as required for maximum efficiency. Batch systems requiring
the use of a metering pump or pumps to feed pre-prepared standing solution shall not
be acceptable.
3.4.6

System Components
3.4.7.1
Tablet Chlorinator: Tablets are placed on a sieve plate inside the chlorinator; as
water flows across the sieve plate, the tablets erode at a rate proportional to the flow
rate.
3.4.7.2
Flow Meter: Shall be rotameter (flow-through) flow meter; measuring the flow of the
water dissolving stream to the chlorinator.
3.4.7.3
Flow Control Valve: Shall be a PVX gate valve mounted on the discharge of the
solution pump.
3.4.7.4
Solution Tank Level Control: Shall be made from Schedule 80 PVC and 316L
Stainless steel with a 1” Float Valve that controls the water level in the solution tank.

Solution Delivery Pump: Shall deliver chlorinated solution to the return line. A
single stage centrifugal pump shall be provided. Air bleed shall be used to prime the
pump at start-up.

Primary Backflow Prevention: Shall be comprised of PVC spring assisted check
valve that prevents reverse flow of water into the system.

SPECIFICATION
CLASS ‘A’ POOL
Heaters supplied shall be MiniMax CH Model 250 as manufactured by Pentair.
Quantity of two (2) shall be supplied.
ACID FEED SYSTEM
The bulk acid tank(s) shall be rotationally molded polyethylene with a lid cap. It shall
be sized to be 34” diameter with a height of 22.5” and have a capacity of 45 usg .
ACID FEED PUMP
3.6.2
The chemical feed pump shall be electronic with dual function control by changing
stroke length and stroke frequency. The chemical feed pump shall come with a Tyrill
or PVC pump head, PVC fittings, Teflon-faced diaphragm, Hyphalon valve seats,
ceramic valve balls, PVC ½” (12.7MM) X 4’ (1.2m) section tubing, polyethylene 7/16”
(11.1mm) X 8’ (2.4m) discharge tubing and anti–syphon valve assembly. The
chemical feed pump shall have total capacity of 30 gallons per day (114 litres per day)
at a maximum pressure of 80 P.S.I. (551.6 kPa) with an electrical requirement of 115
volts, 60 hertz. The acid pump shall be model 73-30-LD54 as supplied by Advanced
Commercial.
3.7
POOL FLOW METER
3.7.1
The flow meter shall be a direct mount pitot design, installed at least 10 pipe
diameters upstream from any joints or elbows in a straight pipe section. It shall be
made from high impact resistant acrylic. It shall be complete with mounting hardware.
It shall be suitable for PVC pipe. The flow meter shall be model F30600 6” (150mm)
for recirculation system as manufactured by Blue & White Industries.
3.8
POOL BACK-FLOW PREVENTOR
3.8.1
The back-flow preventor shall be of brass construction and shall come with
replaceable seats and ball valve test cocks. The back-flow preventor shall have NPT
connections. The size shall be 1-1/2”
3.9
POOL MAKE-UP WATER METER
3.9.1
The water meter shall be of a frost proof design and shall be of brass construction
with Flanged connections. The size shall be 1-1/2”

AUTOMATIC WATER LEVEL CONTROL
3.10.1
The automatic water level control shall be of PVC construction and shall come
complete with adjustable overflow funnel. The water level control shall have 2”
(50mm) union connections for the sensing line and overflow line, respectively. Model

SWIMMING POOL FITTINGS SPECIFICATIONS
4.1
MAIN DRAIN & GRATE
4.1.1
Main drain shall consist of an FRP sump with a 10” side outlet and 1.5” bottom outlet.
It shall be supplied with a 24” x 24” square, cycolac frame, with a grate. Grate
openings shall not exceed ¼” (6.3mm) in width. The grate shall be flush with the top
surface and fit close to the frame. The grate shall be secured to the frame with
stainless steel screws. Unit shall be FPK-50-824-10 as manufactured by ASA
Manufacturing.
Hydrostatic relief valve(s) shall be provided consisting of a cycolac body, and PVC
collection tube. Hydrostatic relief valves and collection tubes shall be SP1056.
VARIABLE ORIFICE WALL INLET
4.1.1

Variable orifice “eyeball” inlet fitting(s) shall be provided consisting of a cycolac body,
retainer ring, directional ball type nozzle, variable orifice inserts and construction
shield. The body shall have an 1 ½” (38mm) solvent weld connection and be
provided with an integrally molded “knock-out” membrane to facilitate line pressure
testing.
4.2.2
A 1 1/2” (38mm) NPT connection is provided for a winterizing plug.
4.2.3
The directional ball shall be secured to the body with a retainer ring with four 18-8
stainless steel screws and have an adjustable range of 45o from the centre line in any

POOL DECK & EXCAVATION
5.1
5.1.1
EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL
Pool Contractor shall excavate to a minimum depth of the existing returns, around the
perimeter of the pool, and to the floor of the pool along the west wall to perform the
necessary tasks. Contractor will also be responsible for backfilling around pool. Clear
sand shall be properly compacted.
5.2
POOL DECK
5.2.1
EXPANSION JOINT CONTROL JOINT AND EXTERIOR SAWCUT SEALANTS
For horizontal joints shall be Sika Duoflex S.L. or W.R. Meadows Sealtight Deck-OSeal 2 Part.
5.2.2
CONCRETE MIX
Proportional normal density concrete in accordance with CAN/CSA-A23.1-04,
Alternative 1, by pool contractor to give compressive strength properties:

For Concrete Pool Deck: 32MPa @ 28 Days
Note: All concrete shall develop 70% of ultimate strength at seven (7) days.
5.2.3
Water/Cement Ratio: 0.45 Maximum for 32MPa concrete.
5.2.4
Deck must be installed on a base no less than 6” deep of ¾” clear compacted
crushed stone.
5.2.5
Concrete deck must be steel or fibre mesh reinforced and be a minimum thickness of
6”.
5.2.6
Poured deck must be saw cut within 24 hours of pour to ensure that no cracking
occurs.
5.3
NEW FITTING INSTALLATION
5.3.1
Pool contractor is responsible for saw cutting the pool shell for the installation of all
new fittings.

All cores required to remove exisiting equalizer fittings or wall inlets must be parged
over and made smooth.

covered with fiberglass-reinforced acrylic. The top surface is a non-skid sanded tread.

Support Column: The support column is made from 3” (76.2mm) dia. schedule 10
stainless steel pipe with 1/4” (6.4mm) thick stainless steel top plate and a 3/8” (9.5mm)

thick stainless steel bottom plate. The support column is then powder coated gray. The
stand is equipped with an umbrella holder and a rescue tube holder.
8.2.3
Ladder and Handrail Assembly: The ladder and handrail assembly are bolted to the
frame. The handrails are made of 304 stainless steel tubing with 1.90” O.D. x .065 wall
thickness (48.3mm x 1.65). Three (3) slip resistant steps are mounted to the assembly.
The steps are made of black molded plastic and are set in the ladder at a 15˚ angle to
facilitate mounting of the stand. They are a nominal 5” x 20 (127mm x 508) and come
with all necessary stainless steel hardware.
8.2.4
Swivel Stand: The base column of the swivel stand assembly is constructed of 3”
(76.2mm) dia. schedule 10 stainless steel pipe. At the lower end of the column is affixed
a .25”(6.4mm) stainless steel plate which serves as a mounting flange. This flange is
attached in tandem with the observation platform (footboard) to the platform supports.
The swivel stand is powder coated gray.
8.2.5
Seat w/ Swivel: A special swivel mechanism is attached to the upper end of the swivel
stand base column to allow for a 360˚ rotation of the contoured, low-side fiberglass
seat. Anchor Assembly (p/n 27-103, see spec sheet for SRS-912): The Outlook II front
anchor is constructed from a 1/4” x 8 x 8 (6.35mm x 203 x 203) stainless steel plate.
Four (4) couple nuts are welded to the plate. L-bolts are then inserted into the couples.
The stand is secured to the anchor by four (4) 1/2” x 1-1/2 (12.7mm x 38.1) stainless
steel bolts. The two (2) rear anchors are 4”
8.2.6
Supply and Install Bronze Anchor Sockets: The assembly includes a 4” (101.6mm)
deep cast bronze socket and secures the Outlook II ladder by means of a wedge
assembly. It is threaded and comes with a 1/4-20 brass grounding screw for bonding.
Two (2) round escutcheon plates are included. The plates are stamped of 0.23” (58mm)
polished, stainless steel and are 4.5” (114mm) in diameter.
8.2.7
Supply and install Lifeguard chairs. They shall be model Outlook II as manufactured by
SR Smith. Quantity of 2.
8.3
TURBOTWISTER SLIDE
8.3.1
Runway: The slide runway is made from thick, durable, roto-molded polyethylene.
Water delivery system comes standard with the slide utilizing 1-1/2” PVC flex hose for a
flow rate of up to 25 gpm.
8.3.2
Handrail: The two (2) ladder handrails are molded into the ladder and are made of
molded polyethylene.
8.3.3
Ladder: The ladder is inclined 15˚ off vertical with eight (8) enclosed steps for ease of
climbing.
8.3.4
Supply and Install Anchor Assembly: Slide is anchored to the deck using eight (8) ½”
(12.70mm) diameter stainless steel anchor studs with hardware.
8.3.5
Supply and install Slide. It shall be model TurboTwister Right Hand as manufactured by
SR Smith.
