CXD4135GG, CXD4235 System ICs for IP Surveillance Cameras Integrate ISP and Video Encoder Function with a Wide Dynamic Range of 120 dB ∗ "ARM" is a trademark of ARM Limited. Sony has now released XarinaTM "CXD4135GG and CXD4235", system ICs that integrate image signal processing (ISP) and video encoding for the next generation of IP surveillance cameras. Supporting a wide range of CCD and CMOS image sensors in industrial applications, the CXD4135GG and CXD4235 come with wide dynamic range (WDR), motion detection, face detection and other intelligent functions to enable high picture quality and high value adding in camera signal processing. To build H.264 encoder, Ether MAC, SD Card interface and other peripheral functions in the ICs reduce system costs, minimize the need for external components and make possible IP cameras for a wide range of functions. ■ H.264 encoder (1080p / 60 frame/s) ■ Video Analytics engine ■ Multi-streaming (4 streams) ■ Wide dynamic range (120 dB) ■ Supports a wide range of image sensors (CMOS/CCD) ∗ "Xarina" is a trademark of Sony Corporation. Xarina is a group of system solutions that enable ideal ICs and effective development to create imaging devices for the network age. High Picture Quality and High Frame Rate In the surveillance camera market, the demand for IP network camera systems has gradually increased over the years. The CXD4135GG and CXD4235 are system ICs that combine image signal processing (ISP) with video encoding. The ISP unit features the latest WDR functions, noise reduction (3D-NR /2D-NR) and other functions to create cameras with high picture quality. The ICs also support H.264 and Motion JPEG video encoding to enable video streaming at up to 1920 × 1080p at a high frame rate of 60 frame/s. Supports a Wide Variety of Image Sensors The CXD4135GG and CXD4235 support the "EXview HAD CCD II"*1 ICX692AKA*2, a highly sensitive complementary color CCD image sensor for our industrial applications and "Exmor"*1 IMX140LQJ*3, a full HD 60 frame/s CMOS image sensor. One platform allows customers to build the type of cameras (for example, a WDR model, high-sensitivity model, a Day&Night model, etc.) they desire. (See table 1.) Sony plans to support an even wider range of image sensors. ∗1: “ E X v i e w H A D C C D II ” a n d " E x m o r " a r e trademarks of Sony Corporation. ∗2: See the New Products section in CX-NEWS, Volume 66. ∗3: For details on the IMX140, see the New Products section in this volume. Intelligent Functions - Motion detection - Face detection - Tampering alarm - Digital image stabilizer The ICs come with these and many more image analysis functions to enable high value added image processing. Use of an external FPGA will further extend functionality to enable use as a traffic surveillance system. User-Friendly Development Environment The lineup includes a package type IC (CXD4135GG) and a modular type (CXD4235) that contains DDR3 memory for image and other processing to simplify board design and reduce product footprint. To help customers effectively develop camera systems, Sony provides a software development environment (evaluation boards, reference design and sample applications) and picture quality adjustment tools. These tools facilitate the development of surveillance cameras with high picture quality and high added value as well as the building of largescale network camera equipment. Our goal was to develop ICs compatible with a wide range of image sensors through mobilizing the experience and exper tise of the entire development team. High quality signal processing acquired in the pursuit of camera IC technology and intelligent functionality that provides high added value made it possible for us to produce an IP camera system IC compatible with multiple applications. Be sure to consider “Xarina” in your next IP camera solution.
