INGREDION ANNOUNCES EXPANSION PLANS IN SINGAPORE
Singapore, 08 May 2014 – Ingredion Incorporated, one of the world’s leading ingredient solutions
providers, announces plans for a major expansion of its Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore.
Located in Biopolis, Singapore’s premier purpose-built life sciences hub, the new space will include a
state-of-the-art R&D centre and sensory and culinary facilities that will offer enhanced services to
Ingredion’s customers around the region.
Adding to the organisation’s global network of innovation centres, including key facilities in
Bridgewater (USA), Hamburg (Germany), San Juan del Rio (Mexico) and São Paulo (Brazil), the
Singapore hub will host innovation partnerships with leading global and Asian food manufacturers.
Headquartered in the US, Ingredion is a global company that has a wide geographic reach in Asia
Pacific, with 15 offices in 12 countries and seven manufacturing plants in Australia, China, South Korea
and Thailand. The new site in Singapore represents a significant expansion of Ingredion's innovation
capabilities in Asia. Highly skilled employees will work on technical advancements in the fields of food
ingredient and end product development, with the aim of providing great tasting, nutritious and costeffective food products to Asian markets.
“With more than 30 years’ experience of serving customers in Asia, we are reaching a critical point
where increasing our footprint, services, capabilities and innovations in the region is key to our
growth strategy.” commented Jorgen Kokke, Vice President and General Manager, Asia Pacific,
Ingredion. “This significant investment demonstrates our commitment to serving developed and
developing markets with Asian solutions that meet Asian market needs.”
Having led its EMEA business for five years, Kokke was recently appointed to head up Ingredion in
Asia Pacific. He brings a wealth of experience in driving business growth in developed and developing
markets and joins the Asia Pacific business at an exciting time of strategic investments in support of
planned growth.
The Company has a long-standing presence in Singapore and was one of the first businesses to build
an office and technology centre in the Singapore Science Park II in the mid-90s. This latest investment
will significantly strengthen the people and capability base at Ingredion, and provide a broader suite of
services to existing and new customers.
With this move, Ingredion and its customers are not the only ones who stand to benefit. Singapore’s
Economic Development Board (EDB) also welcomes the investment and the strategic choice of
location. Commenting on the Ingredion expansion plan, Kevin Lai, EDB Director for Consumer
Businesses, said, “Ingredion’s latest investments will further strengthen Singapore’s position as a
leading business and R&D hub to provide innovative products and solutions for consumers in Asia.
Singapore’s proximity to high growth markets in Asia, conducive business environment and deep
scientific capabilities have made Singapore a choice location for many global companies, including
Ingredion.”
