2015 Oregon Registry Steps for the

Oregon Registry: Pathways to Professional Recognition in Childhood Care & Education

Welcome to the Oregon Registry!

You have joined a community of professionals in Oregon committed to providing quality experiences for children and youth. You provide a vital service to support families with children in our community. The Oregon Registry: Pathways for Professional

Recognition in Childhood Care and Education is a statewide program that records and recognizes the professional development growth and achievement of people who work with and for children and families.

What are the benefits?

The Oregon Registry:

Recognizes Professional Development (training hours, degrees and college coursework) you have completed related to the childhood care and education field.

Provides a guide for future professional development.

 May give you money related to different Steps you achieve (Education Awards & Scholarships).

 Connects you to others who care for and educate children and families.

 Promotes the profession while recognizing you as a professional.

What is new in the revised 2015 Oregon Registry Steps Document?

 New requirements in the Degree, Credential, Certificate (DCC) Pathway and College Course Credit (CCC) Pathway requiring specific coursework connected to the Core Knowledge Categories of Human Growth & Development (HGD), Learning Environments & Curriculum (LEC) and

Understanding & Guiding Behavior (UGB) .

 Expanded acceptance of coursework on the Degree, Credential, Certificate (DCC) Pathway. For individuals with out-of-field degrees (see #5 under

Footnotes for in-field degrees), coursework taken outside the degree may now be counted to meet the required credits that link to the Core

Knowledge Categories.

Both the 2008 and the 2015 editions of the Oregon Registry Steps document will be used to determine Steps from February 1 to December 31, 2015.

Steps will be awarded using the Step document that yields the highest Step possible. Starting January 2016, the 2008 Step document will be retired. At that time, individuals electing to achieve or move up a Step on the Registry will be required to comply with the new requirements. The revision will not be retroactive; individuals will keep their current Oregon Registry Step.
