Existing subject IC12 – Insurance Business Environment has been replaced by Revised subject
IC14 – Regulations of Insurance Business.

In respect of subjects 01, 02 and 11 paper wise credit will be given to candidates who have
passed in the old syllabus.
4.
In case of candidates who have passed Paper No.12 – ‘Insurance Business Environment’
exemption will be granted from Paper No.14 – ‘Regulation of Insurance Business’.
Candidate who could not pass the existing subject No.12 Insurance Business Environment’
up to Oct./Nov. 2010 have to appear the revised paper No.14 ‘Regulation Of Insurance
Business’ to pass the Licentiate Examination.

Six Subjects need to Cleared.

As per the revised syllabus, ‘Foundation of Actuarial Science (Life Insurance)’, and ‘Health
Insurance’ subjects are introduced from May 2011 and existing subjects ‘Information
Technology’ and ‘Life Assurance Management’ are removed from the syllabus.

In respect of other subjects the existing syllabus has been revised and paper wise credit will be
given to the candidates for the corresponding revised subjects. i.e. in paper No. 22 , 23,24 and
26.

Candidates who could not clear the existing Paper No. 21 ‘Information Technology’ and paper
No. 25 ‘Life Assurance Management’ will be given three chances (within one and half year
i.e. up to May, 2012). Thereafter from October/November 2012 such candidates have to
appear for new papers as per the revised syllabus. i.e. those failed in paper 25 ‘Life Assurance
Management’ will have to appear in New paper no. 27 ‘Health Insurance’ and failed in Paper
21 ‘Information Technology’ will appear paper no. 28 ‘Foundation of Actuarial Science (Life
Insurance)’.

Candidate who could not clear Associateship Exam as per old syllabus before Oct.2012, the
exemption on paper No.21 and paper No. 25 will not be valid and existing candidates have to
appear paper no 27 and paper no.28.

If candidates of old syllabus wish to appear for new curriculum, the benefit of passing of old
subjects will not be credited, and such candidate has to appear all the subjects as per revised
curriculum. For example no credit to Subject 21 and 25 will be considered and for remaining
papers credit of revised syllabus will be granted i.e. in papers no. 22,23,24,and 26 if passed
earlier.

1. As per the revised syllabus, ‘General Insurance Underwriting’, ‘Foundation of
Casualty Actuarial Science –I’ and General Insurance Accounts preparation and
Regulation of Investment’ Subjects are introduced from May, 2011.
2. There will now be only one common branch for all non- life Candidates.
3. A separate Specialized Diploma on Fire insurance and Marine Insurance have also
been introduced.
4. Candidates who have passed any one subject of existing Fire Branch, i.e. Paper
51/52/55/56 will get exemption in revised paper no. 57 ‘Fire and Consequential
Loss Insurance’.
5. Candidate who have passed any one subject of existing Marine Branch i.e. paper
61/62/63/66 will get exemption in revised paper no. 67 ‘Marine Insurance’.

6. Candidates who has opted Fire Branch will be given three chances (within one and half year
i.e. upto May 2012) to clear all the papers. Thereafter from Oct./Nov.2012, such candidates
have to appear as per revised syllabus.
After the time limit is over, the exemption will be valid only to those candidates who have
passed Paper IC54 ‘Fire Insurance Underwriting’ who will get exemption in the new subject
‘General Insurance Underwriting’. Candidates who passed other technical subjects of Fire
Branch will be eligible to get exemption in the revised subject IC57 ‘Fire and Consequential
Loss Insurance’. For other (old/ existing failed or passed) papers, such candidates have to
appear for the remaining subjects as per revised syllabus i.e. compulsory and optional subjects
to get the Associateship Diploma.
7. Candidates who opted Marine Branch will be given three chances (within one and half year
i.e. upto May 2012) to clear all the papers. Thereafter from Oct. /Nov. 2012, they have to
appear for all subjects as per revised syllabus.
After the time limit, the exemption will be valid only to those candidates who have passed
paper IC65 ‘Marine Insurance Underwriting’ who will get exemption in the new subject
‘General Insurance Underwriting’. Candidates who passed other technical subjects of Marine
Branch will be eligible to get exemption in revised subject IC67 ‘Marine Insurance’. For other
(old/ existing failed or passed) papers such candidates have to appear for the remaining
subjects as per revised syllabus i.e. compulsory and optional subjects to get the Associateship
Diploma.
8. In respect of remaining other two Branches i.e. Miscellaneous and General Branch, credit
will be granted for the corresponding revised subject. i.e. paper 57, 67,71,72,74,77 and 78 In
case of Paper No 79 candidate will be eligible to get exemption either in paper 74 or Paper 77.
9. Candidates who have opted Miscellaneous and General Branches will also get three
chances to clear the remaining subjects (within one and half year i.e. upto May, 2012).
Thereafter from October/November 2012, those candidates who could not clear the papers
within the specific time limit will get exemption for the corresponding revised subject. For
remaining papers they have to appear as per the revised syllabus to get Associateship
Diploma.
10. After the time limit is over, the exemption will be valid for General Branch candidate’s
only in 3 technical papers i.e. papers 57, 67, 72 and/or 78. For remaining papers such
candidates have to appear other papers as per revised Syllabus i.e. 3 compulsory subjects to
pass the Associateship Examination.
11. Similarly after the time limit in Miscellaneous branch exemption will be valid only in
three technical papers i.e. 71, 72, 74 and or 77. For remaining papers such candidates have to
appear as per revised syllabus i.e. 3 compulsory subjects to pass the Associateship
Examination.
12. If candidates of old syllabus wish to appear for new curriculum, the benefit of
passing of old subjects will not be credited, and such candidate has to appear all the
subjects as per revised curriculum.

Asset Management
1. Any Six subjects are required to be cleared.
2. As per the revised syllabus w.e.f .October 2011, IC84/A-2 ‘Foundation of Casualty Actuarial
Science Part - II’ (Non-Life) and IC92 ‘Actuarial Aspects of Product Development’ two new
subjects are introduced in Fellowship Examination.
3. In respect of subjects IC81, 82,83,85,86,88,89,90 and 99 Passed candidates will get
exemptions in corresponding revised subject.
4. In respect of subject IC87 Law and Economics, candidate will get benefit of pass upto
Oct.2012, thereafter if candidate did not pass fellowship Examination, he/ she has to select
another subject as per revised syllabus.
5. Similarly Candidates passed IC97 ‘Legal Aspects of Industrial Relations’ and IC98
‘Advanced Information Technology’ will get benefit up to Oct.2012, thereafter if such
candidate did not pass fellowship Exam, he/ she has to take another subjects as per the
revised syllabus.
6. Existing Candidates are allowed to continue their subjects up to Oct.2012 thereafter, all such
existing candidates ( if they did not clear Fellowship exam.) have to take other subjects as per
revised curriculum.
7. The Fellowship Examination as per the revised Structure will be conducted from
OCTOBER 2011.
