The Network of Networks 3M™ Single-Pair Protector Modules SOR PU 3M offers a full range of solutions for network protection that are designed to protect personnel and equipment. They are designed to meet major international standards and service provider’s specifications. 3M™ Single-Pair Protector Modules SOR PU are designed for use with: 3M™ High Density Cross-Connect Modules STG2000 and STR Series 3M™ Over Voltage Protector SOR PU 8 3M™ High Speed Cross-Connect Modules RCP2000 3M™ Terminal Blocks BRCP, BRCP-NC SP, Next Connect While providing modular protection against high voltage surges and over currents to individual copper pairs of most voice and data, fixed and wireless network applications, SOR PU protectors maintain the density provided by the 3M blocks and modules, making them very adaptable to congested main distribution frames (MDF) in central offices as well as the confined spaces of remote terminals, shelters or telecom closets in residential or corporate buildings. 3M™ Over Voltage and Over Current Protector SOR PU 7 All SOR PU protectors include a 3-pole, non-radioactive gas discharge tube (GDT) or surge arrester equipped with a fail-safe device. The common chamber 3-electrode gas tube provides balanced protection. A surge voltage on either side of the circuit causes the entire gas tube to ionize and provides a simultaneous path to ground for both tip and ring. In case of a lasting surge, the fail-safe will melt and short to ground. The SOR PU protectors are available with and without a positive temperature coefficient resistor (PTCR) current limiter which protects against low voltage sneak currents. When the surge passes, the resistance will decrease with the temperature 3M™ Over Voltage Double GDT Protector SOR PU 20 and the PTCR automatically resets. Individual single-pair protector modules can be added during installation or removed separately for replacement on faulty lines without disturbing adjacent working lines.
