lighting control systems product selection guide Company mission NexLight is Simple. Reliable. Flexible. NexLight designs and manufacturers high-reliability low-voltage lighting controls systems for the commercial building market. An experienced leader in the industry, NexLight has been providing lighting control solutions for more than 20 years. Today, we continue to deliver the most reliable, flexible and easy-to-install lighting control solution available. Our worldwide reputation for 100% reliability controlling high inrush loads in critical environments is one that no other controls manufacturer can match. The NexLight 2-Wire communication means the greatest level of system flexibility and programming. Even years after initial installation; adding to or modifying the system is simple and fast. All with the lowest installed cost. NexLight is Value. A leader in energy reduction, NexLight Control Systems save an average of 30-60% in building energy costs. Used frequently in LEED building projects, energy savings begin the day of system activation and continue for the life of the building. Schools, university campuses, hospitals, federal buildings, airports, warehouses, office parks, correctional & manufacturing facilities are all ideal applications for our system, improving living and working environments for building occupants. NexLight is Designed to Fit Your Building. Unlike other lighting control manufacturers, NexLight control systems are designed to fit the specific requirements of each building project. Our difference is delivering reliable systems that meet today’s higher energy standards while providing the flexibility to grow with future facilities needs. With thousands of installations around the U.S.A. and abroad, NexLight continues to lead in design built solutions for buildings requiring the highest level of reliability, even in the harshest conditions. California Title 24 and others “charge” anywhere from 30 to 70 watts/foot. Most connected loads are far less than the per-foot requirements of these codes. Solution: The NX-CL current limiting panel overcomes these requirements by setting a definite current limit to significantly lower the VA rating of any line-voltage track lighting without the penalty of watts-per-linear-foot code calculations. Example: Title 24 requires four track circuits with a total length of 200ft at a minimum of 9000 watts (45watts/foot x 200 ft). installing a NX-CL panel would limit each of the four tracks to 6Amps or less, reducing the lighting load calculation to 2400 watts. Additionally, relay control and dimming may be added providing enhanced control and light level adjustments (see below). 3 leVels oF limiting control Without Current Limiting With Current Limiting + Controls 20A 20A 20A 20A 2250W 20A 2250W Track length determines wattage calculation *Calculations are based on the 45W/ft multiplier of California Title 24 good 20A 5A 20A 5A 20A 4A Branch Circuit Breaker Panel NexLight Current Limiting Panel 2 5A 600W 600W 3 480W Current Limiting Panel with Relay/Switch Control for each leg 4 Current limiting device determines wattage calculation Actual Designed Wattage: 40 fixtures x 45W each = 1800W total 200ft of track with current limiting = 2400W* *Calculations are based on the 45W/ft multiplier of California Title 24 With Current Limiting + Controls + Dimming 720W 6A 5A 4A Branch Circuit Breaker Panel Actual Designed Wattage: 40 fixtures x 45W each = 1800W total 200ft of track without current limiting = 9000W* 20A 6A x 4 20A 2250W With Current Limiting 1 6A 20A 20A Branch Circuit Breaker Panel Better 720W 2250W 600W 600W 20A D 20A D 20A D 20A 480W Branch Circuit Breaker Panel Current limiting device determines wattage calculation D Best 2 6A 6A x 4 5A 5A 600W 600W 3 480W 4 4A NexLight Control NexLight Current Panel w/ Dimmers & Limiting Panel Relays for each leg Current limiting device determines wattage calculation Actual Designed Wattage: 40 fixtures x 45W each = 1800W total 200ft of track with current limiting = 2400W* Actual Designed Wattage: 40 fixtures x 45W each = 1800W total 200ft of track with current limiting = 2400W* *Calculations are based on the 45W/ft multiplier of California Title 24 *Calculations are based on the 45W/ft multiplier of California Title 24 15 1 720W Contact NexLight Today for More Information 218-828-3700 Panels Features: • Current Limiting for up to 64 circuits per panel • Circuit breakers available in: .5, 1-8, 10, 12, 13, 15 & 16 Amp • All panels may be customized to fit your application needs • Relay control available for local switching control of each circuit • Dimming available to be added- contact NexLight for panel design assistance • All enclosures are NEMA1, and include hinged locking covers and dead-fronts • Factory Pre-assembled • NX-CL panels are approved for use under California Title 24 (Section130(c)3). • The 2008 Title 24 (section 119) includes a mandatory requirement for integral current limiters for track lighting circuits. They receive signals from the NexLight signal bus and provide On/Off control of lighting and other electrical loads. They can also handle pilot duty loads. Since they receive both the operating power and signal from the network, they can be remotely located for convenient installation like NexLight ceiling tile panels or into existing junction boxes (retrofits). Significant line voltage wiring reductions can be achieved by locating them near the load location. 19 Contact NexLight Today for More Information 218-828-3700 Featured Products Return to Close Bypass / Shunt Relay OVERVIEW: The Return to Close Bypass/ Shunt Relays are UL924 listed and designed for applications that require an emergency load to be switched on in the event of loss of normal utility power. Prepackaged in their own NEMA1 enclosure or panel versions to be installed inside an enclosure. When normal power is present, the ESR relay coil is activated and the emergency panel is fed from normal power. The lighting load can be switched on/off using an individual wall switch. When normal power drops out, the ESR coil is deactivated and N/C contact falls closed. The automatic transfer switch changes over to backup (generator) power, and the lighting load is illuminated regardless of the position of the wall switches. This ensures emergency lighting will be on during power loss. Daylighting promises to provide significant operating cost reductions, when properly integrated with a lighting control system. NexLight works with you during the design phase to ensure your daylight harvesting will perform as planned, creating the ideal atmosphere while increasing energy savings. indoor Daylight Sensors WRT3657 description: The Ceiling Mounted Daylight Sensor detects ambient daylight. It can switch up to two independent zones with four steps each. May be used for switched and dimmed loads on the NexLight system. Only requires connection to the 2-Wire bus, no power packs required. Features: •Controls lighting by detecting brightness of natural light from outdoors. (Detected illuminance guideline: 100 lx to 2000 lx) •Connects directly to full 2-Wire signal bus. •Daylight sensor can be disabled to enable overriding of ON/OFF switching. •Can control loads in two ranges, with different illuminances. •Enables individual, pattern, group control. •Enables control based on illuminance at desk top surface. (Stores correlation ratio of ceiling and desktop illuminance). •High cost performance, and eliminates the need for contact input. 45 Model Number Product Description WRT3657 Daylight Sensor Ceiling Mounted Contact NexLight Today for More Information 218-828-3700 sensors Exterior Photocell k4121 (120) / k4123 (277) description: Externally mounted, usually on the roof-top of a building. Simply connect all system panels and components via 2-Wire signal bus. Centralize or Distribute as needed, there are virtually no location restrictions with NexLight. S In addition to the time clock scheduling, the combination of occupancy sensors plus the conveniently located wall switches work to ensure lights remain ON when a space is occupied and OFF when it’s not. Bi-level switching can be completed by switching alternate rows of fixtures (or switch OFF half the lamps in each fixture) in unoccupied spaces, as detected by sensors or as a function to a programmed time based command. Adding digital switches provides added manual adjustment for the ideal lighting when occupant needs differ from automatic settings. NexLight time clock scheduling can provide advanced scheduling as part of a total facility schedule. Typical Office Building Energy Consumption Recent estimates, find lighting accounts for 38 percent of all energy used in offices.
