Lighting Units

Overview

The EDW Series offers traditionally designed emergency lighting units with maintenance-free 10 year sealed lead-acid batteries.

Cabinet is constructed of NEMA 1 heavy gauge steel with baked-on enamel finish. Each unit contains a solid state pulse charger, a low voltage battery disconnect circuit, an automatic transfer circuit, a test switch and a charge indicator. The unit’s two lighting heads are fully adjustable. A knockout is provided for the installation of a third head on the cabinet. The Product Selector chart indicates each unit’s capabilities for remote fixtures and heads.

Operation

All models provide emergency lighting for up to four hours. Operation is completely automatic. The solid-state charger maintains the battery at full charge. Lighting heads and fixtures are automatically connected to the battery upon loss of utility AC. While in emergency operation, battery damage from a deep discharge is prevented by a low voltage disconnect circuit. When normal power is restored, the emergency lighting is extinguished and the charger recharges the battery to its initial state. Recharging is accomplished within acceptable CSA time standards. Charge rate is indicated by a pilot light. A test switch is provided for checking emergency operation. Operation is universal 120VAC or 347VAC.
