About the Department
The Department of Chemistry is established in
1999. The Department faculty members are handling
B.E/B.Tech and M.Tech classes. It is well equipped with
research laboratories and has dedicated staff members
who are trained at renowned institute in India and
abroad. Their research papers are well cited. The
faculty members attract substantial financial support
for their research activities from both State and Central
Government funding agencies. The Department offers
vibrant atmosphere to scholar to nurture the spirit of
scientific inquiry and to pursue cutting edge research in
highly encouraging environment. The active field of
research includes Coordination Chemistry, Bioinorganic
Chemistry, Bioorganic Chemistry, Photochemistry,
Catalysis, Material Chemistry, Electrochemistry,
Chemical Kinetics, Polymer Chemistry, Synthetic
Organic Chemistry, Nanotechnology and Application of
GIS in Environment.
The Department is supported by CSIR, DST and
TNSCST. The laboratory is equipped with modern
analytical instruments and general wet chemical
synthesis facility. The Department has several
publications in reputed journals along with a National
patent.
Theme of the FDP
The FDP aims at exploring the potential research
areas in Chemical Sciences. The theme of the FDP is
accomplished by focusing the challenges and issues in
view to create a research ambience among the faculty
members. The idea is to enrich the teachers with skills
and knowledge, which in turn is used to cultivate and
nurture research attitude among the students.
