Turku University of Applied Sciences LIKe / ICT Unit INTERNATIONAL SEMESTER DESCRIPTIONS 2016 – 2017 22.4.2016 (subject to change) Please note, that you can only choose courses from one specific International Semester at a time. For example if you choose courses from the Embedded Systems Semester, you cannot at the same time take courses that are listed under the ICT Projects & Cybersecurity Semester. In addition as you are nominated as an ICT student, you cannot choose international semesters (=modules) or courses from any other faculty or unit than ICT Unit. Possible semesters from which you can choose in the ICT Unit are: 1. Embedded Systems Semester or 2. Electronics Semester or 3. ICT Projects & Cybersecurity Semester. Embedded Systems Semester Description The Embedded Systems semester focus on software development for microchip controlled devices. The course contents contain programming embedded devices using C programming language. After completing the semester, you are able to design embedded software for standard processor peripherals such as timers, serial controllers and I/O ports. The semester includes several project assignments. It is possible to join the semester only for the autumn part, or for a full academic year. Prerequisites Fundamental skills in Mathematics, Computer architecture and Programming. The semester courses are mainly 3rd year ICT engineering (B.Eng.) courses. Autumn 2016 Code Embedded Systems Semester (ECS-cooperation semester, Autumn or full academic year) Innovation Project Continues in spring, possible to study only 5 cr in autumn Embedded Software Continues in spring, possible to study only 5 cr in autumn Electronics Workshop: Module is divided in 3 x 5 ECTS parts 1002309 5051155 OK10012 4 1002336 - Basic Electronics 1002335 - Programming Microcontrollers 1002337 - Sensors and Actuators TBA Introduction to Digitalization (free-choice online-course for students staying only autumn semester) ECTS 5 5 15 5 5 5 5 Spring 2017 Code 1002309 5051155 1002377 TBA Embedded Systems Semester (ECS-cooperation semester, Autumn or full academic year) Innovation Project Embedded Software Introduction to Digitalization (Online course) Internet of Things Workshop ECTS 10 10 5 10 Electronics Semester Description The Electronics Semester focus on the design of hardware electronics. The course contents contain analysis, design and measurements of basic and more advanced analog and digital circuit blocks and devices such as sensors, amplifiers, filters combinational and sequential logic circuits and components used in optical transmission systems. After completing the semester, you are able to design these blocks and use them for example as a part of microcontroller systems. It is possible to join the semester only for the autumn part, or for a full academic year. Prerequisites Fundamental skills in Mathematics, Computer architecture, Electronics components as well as Digital and Analog electronics.
