Lighting management has never been so easy and economical iBusway for Lighting Management A simple, economical solution Lighting management is an essential means of providing users with greater comfort, whilst at the same time reducing their energy bill. An affordable, easily-implementable solution for medium-sized tertiary buildings and workshops is available: Canalis in combination with DALI Greater comfort for users Lighting management makes it possible to compensate for light variations due to weather and sunlight by creating a uniform luminous flux. A well-lit workstation has a direct impact on the well-being of the employees and the quality of their work, as well as on their safety. And better energy efficiency Controlling lighting by zone, creating lighting scenarios on the basis of occupancy time, switching off lights in unoccupied zones, etc. Lighting management optimises the use of equipment to significantly reduce electricity consumption. > Offices > Workshops > Car parks > Supermarkets > Logistics centers > Data-centers 35% Lighting share of a building’s electricity consumption 20% Achievable savings thanks to energy management Canalis and DALI: perfect complementarity Combining a Canalis busbar trunking system with a lighting management interface based on the DALI protocol is the ideal solution for optimising your lighting management. DALI: an open, simple, flexible protocol • DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is an international communication bus dedicated to lighting applications. • A DALI system consists of a controller and a power supply. It allows lighting sources to be controlled via the busbar trunking distribution system. • The controller can be used to manage up to 64 lighting control points that can be grouped together in several zones (up to 16 zones). • For each zone, a fixed or dynamic scenario (with light dimming) can be defined to exactly meet the specific lighting needs of the activity and the occupancy conditions of the premises. • Simple reprogramming is sufficient to modify the zones or scenarios. • All the products that conform to the DALI protocol are compatible with each other. They all comply with IEC 62386, which guarantees that the installation operates correctly. For example, one brand of ballast can be exchanged for another. • DALI is also used to manage the emergency lighting according to current regulations. Canalis for lighting: a flexible, upgradeable busbar trunking system • The Canalis KBA and KBB ranges with option T are compatible with DALI. • Canalis is a modular busbar trunking system for lighting distribution throughout the building. • The system based on prefabricated components without tap-off units provides highly flexible installation and is completely upgradeable. • Canalis is an easy-to-deploy solution. Today, many electrical installations incorporate busbar trunking systems in their design. Simply choose a DALI-compatible KBA or KBB version, add one or more DALI controllers to the switchboard and your equipment will immediately be operational. • Canalis busbar trunking systems are quickly and safely installed. No tools are required for the connections, which are designed to avoid any risk of being connected incorrectly. • It is a proven solution: more than 70,000 km of Canalis busbar trunking have been installed all over the world since 1954 Canalis + Dali : the winning combination Canalis + Dali: an obvious choice -50% on installation time Combining power distribution and lighting management reduces the initial investment, contributing to a high value-added, reliable and upgradeable installation. > Single, fast and economical • With Canalis, the time spent on the worksite is halved compared that required for a conventional wired installation. • Canalis straight modular components and withdrawable units can easily be handled and assembled without tools in a few clicks. • Canalis (KBA and KBB with option T) allows the electrical power distribution for both lighting and integrated control lines to be installed at the same time. > Upgradeable Lighting zones • It is extremely easy to modify or extend the installation in the event of a change of activity or building enlargement. Simply connect new Canalis modular components and withdrawable units to the existing busbar trunking and reconfigure the DALI controller. • The DALI controller can be interfaced with a BMS (Building Management System) in buildings where one is installed via DALI/KNX gateways. > Safety and continuity of service • IP55, Canalis is sealed against splash and dust. It can therefore be installed safely in all types of buildings. • Any technician can connect or disconnect live loads safely, without stopping operation. > Environmentally friendly • Canalis is guaranteed not to contain any halogen products. In the event of fire, Canalis does not emit smoke or toxic gas. • Canalis has been developed in conformity with the RoHS recommendations and does not contain any harmful substance (PVC). • All the Canalis system components can easily be disassembled, cleaned and reused. Lighting zones Dali can be used for different network typologies: star, serial or both combined. Networks can easily be extended. -10% on the initial investment for a high-performance solution DALI communication bus -80% on installation upgrade costs Canalis KBA or KBB busbar trunking with option T Canalis KBA with option T Technical data A complete range for lighting systems. • Length of the busbar trunking components: 2 or 3 m • Rated operating current: 25 and 40 A • Rated tap-off unit outlet current: 10 and 16 A • Number of circuits: Canalis KBA, 1 circuit (2 or 4 conductors) Canalis KBB, 1 or 2 circuits (2 or 4 conductors) • Degree of protection: IP 55 Canalis KBB with option T A very robust range to support a large number of heavy light units.
