The patented round ceramic arc tube in METALARC POWERBALL lamps allows for superb color rendering, long life, and improved lamp-to-lamp color consistency. The lamps are more energy efficient than halogen light sources, making METALARC POWERBALL lamps an ideal choice to help meet new stricter energy code requirements in retail, grocery, and high-end commercial applications. METALARC POWERBALL lamps are now available in wattages ranging from 20W to 320W and in an assortment of configurations including tubular (T4.5, T6, T7.5), medium base E17, mogul base BT28 or BT37, and reflector (PAR20, PAR30, PAR38) types. A competitive comparison of recently introduced 20W TC and 20W PAR30 types is given below. OSRAM SYLVANIA recently formed a new global LED Systems (LS) organization in order to respond to growing customer needs for LED systems solutions in the general lighting, automotive lighting and display / optic markets. The new LS organization is responsible for bridging the gap between individual systems components such as LEDs, heat-sinks and primary optics versus complete LED light source systems. The products will be initially developed specifically for OEMs, set-makers and distributors to accelerate the adoption of LED technologies for lighting. The LS product portfolio will include standardized as well as custom LED system solutions for the company’s OEM partners. The LS organization has five global functions; manufacturing and operations, marketing, research and development, applications engineering and controls. The organization consists of three business development regional organizations located in Europe, NAFTA and Asia and headed globally by Dr. Klaus Ziemssen. The NAFTA organization is headed by Sameer Sodhi. This new organization will not only integrate and manufacture LED systems products utilizing current component technologies but will also focus on the research and development of new and innovative LED systems technologies.
