GENERAL OPERATION
The PIR10 series of products are passive infrared ceiling
sensors that turn lighting systems on and off based upon
occupancy. PIR10 sensors utilize an advanced microprocessor
in combination with infrared technology to detect occupancy
and control lighting. They monitor a specific area for a
moving infrared heat source such as a human body. When a
person enters the sensor field of view, the Fresnel™ lens
focuses the IR energy emitted by that person onto a pyroelectric detector. The detector and the associated electronic
circuit cause the sensor to immediately switch “ON” available
lighting. Each sensor utilizes a highly segmented Fresnel™ IR
lens that provides an extremely dense lens pattern, making
Hubbell Building Automation’s PIR10 sensors ideal for both
minor and major motion applications. Typical desktop coverage and minor motion area is 600 square feet, while major
motion is detectable at up to 1500 square feet. Built in
technological advancements promote long-term, trouble free
operation while the revolutionary sensor design is both
aesthetically pleasing and physically compact. PIR sensors are
ideal for any office, conference room, public area, warehouse
or stockroom. Simple installation, low initial costs, and high
energy saving potential expedite a fast and noticeable return on
investment.
PIR10 sensors feature a user adjustable time delay of 30
seconds to 30 minutes and adjustable sensitivity from 20% to
100% of maximum, allowing for complete customization of
any application. PIR sensors incorporate a built-in photocell
feature which provides increased energy savings in areas
where there is ample natural light. The PIR sensors are
available in a variety of models operating at 24V DC, 120347V AC. The PIR10EMS sensor includes a single-pole,
double-throw, isolated relay to interface with HVAC, EMS or
BAS systems and includes normally open (N.O.) and normally
closed (N.C.) outputs that are rated for 1A @ 24V DC or
1A @ 120V AC. The PIR10 series of sensors are easy to
install and increase lighting design options with both low
voltage and line voltage recessed ceiling mount products.
PIR10 sensors are capable of switching electronic ballasts, PL
lamps and inductive loads. Areas with high ceilings and dual
level lighting may also be controlled.

ORDERING INFORMATION
Coverage and Placement
PIR10 sensors offer a 360° field of view with a coverage
radius of 25 feet when mounted at 10 feet. The sensor should
be mounted within the occupants line of sight and may be
used in conjunction with multiple sensors for additional
coverage.
Mounting
PIR10 sensors maybe mounted utilizing a 3-0 round mud ring
attached to a 4-inch square electrical box or by using the
metal mounting ring provided (low voltage models only).
