BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING PROGRAM OVERVIEW ACCREDITATION Electrical engineers synthesize science, mathematics, technology, and application-oriented designs into world class consumer products, timely microprocessors, state of the art computers, advanced electronic components and much more. The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering program is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and is licensed by the KHDA. The main BS Electrical Engineering program at Rochester-NY is also accredited by ABET and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. As per ABET requirements, the Dubai BS Electrical Engineering program is expected to apply for ABET accreditation on graduating the first class of students in June 2015. From cutting-edge technology revolutions to real life applications, the innovations of electrical engineers continue to lead the future and elevate the standards in the marketplace. With a shortage of electrical engineering talent in the job market, demands for RIT Dubai graduates remains at an all-time high. RIT Dubai’s highly regarded electrical engineering program uniquely combines the rigor of theory with hands-on applications and laboratory experiments in order to provide in-depth knowledge of the subject matter. To this effect, students gain mastery of mathematics and scientific principles in their first two years of study while exploring world class design practices using our modern labs. Core electrical engineering subjects are studied in the next two years in order to provide a firm foundation for a variety of advanced topics, concentrations and specializations. In the fifth year, students typically specialize in an area of professional interest while undertaking a significant multidisciplinary senior design project that leverages their comprehensive knowledge of the art while providing a fertile ground for interactions with colleagues from other disciplines. Farrukh Khan "Joining RIT Dubai is one of the best decisions I have ever made. The vast hands-on learning experiences and enriching co-op opportunities are one of the main reasons why I chose RIT Dubai. The faculty and staff are all dedicated to student success and innovation, making RIT Dubai and the electrical engineering department an exciting place to learn. Another great aspect of this university is that here we get a chance to interact with students from other countries and learn their cultures and traditions." POSSIBLE CAREER OPTIONS Because RIT Dubai graduates are adept at problem solving and have real-world experience and team skills, they are in high demand. Our electrical engineering alumni work in every conceivable industry, from medical to military, power distribution to communication and financial services. The computer industry attracts many of our graduates, who are innovators with a track record of success in areas as diverse as research and development to marketing and sales. Students complete all the required courses for the BS in electrical engineering and choose their free and professional electives from a specified set of courses in one of the following areas: Renewable Energy / Computer Engineering / Robotics / Wireless Communication.* Cooperative education is a full-time paid work experience in the student’s field of study. The Electrical Engineering co-op curriculum requires the completion of 50 weeks in one or more of the Electrical Engineering domains such as devices and integrated circuits, computer and digital systems, signal processing, control, and communications. Co-op can be completed in two 25-week blocks; each block is a summer and a regular semester. * Students admitted to the RIT Dubai campus may pursue their degrees towards a BS in general Electrical Engineering. The other options are available only through an exchange or transfer arrangement, which are subject to achieving additional respective requirements and approvals as outlined in the academic policies and procedures. Co-op is designed to be a learning experience for the student as well as a productive working assignment for the employer. The experience should emphasize real-world tasks and responsibilities that grow with the student's increased knowledge, skills, and experiences. www.rit.edu/dubai
