However these suggestions should be considered. The basic steps could be as follows: Examination Instructions 1. DO NOT OPEN THE PLASTIC ENVELOPE, until instructed. 2. When instructed you may take the documents out of the plastic envelope and fill out the Application details DO NOT TURN OVER OR OPEN THE BOOKLET. 3. When instructed detach the Application form from the booklet. 4. When instructed you may turn over the Application form and the exam booklet and commence the exam. 5. The MROCP exam is a closed book exam. 6. The MROVCP exam is an open book exam – only the AMC handbooks MRO and MV are allowed. 7. No communication is permitted other than with the invigilator. 8. The exam paper is multi choice and there is only one correct answer to each question. 9. No candidate may leave the room for the duration of the exam. 10. The answer sheet is located on the back of the Application form – do not fill out the exam booklet. 11. “You have one hour (or 30 minutes MROVCP) for this paper; take your time, read the entire question. 12. To pass, you must obtain a 70% or higher mark. 13. Read the question, try to think of the answer and then look at the four options. 14. Attempt all questions any question not answered will be marked as incorrect. 15. If you cannot answer a question, then go on to the next question. 16. Check the answer sheet for any missed answers. 17. On completing all 50 (or 25) questions go through the paper again and complete those missed the first time round. 18. Only a pencil (dark lead), eraser or biro pen is permitted, clearly shade in the answer box. No fluorescent or scratchy pens or faint pencils as these are hard to mark. 19. If you wish to change the answer then put a cross through the incorrect answer (erase if using pencil) and shade in the new correct answer. 20. When instructed you must put pens/pencils down and cease writing. On completion of the examination paper, the application/answer, passport style photograph and method of payment can be placed into the clear plastic envelope for returning to the OMC for marking. Candidates should be supplied with a plastic envelope containing an examination booklet and Application/Answer sheet. On instruction from the invigilator fill out the Application sheet, tear off from the exam booklet. When instructed by invigilator, turn over both the Application sheet, exam booklet and commence examination. Stop when instructed. Write clearly, name your photo, sign Application form and check your details. At the completion of the examination, the candidate should return the examination booklet to the envelope together with the application/answer sheet, the endorsed photograph, and payment. Candidates of Applications/Examinations that are not completed (no photo, no payment or missing/incorrect data on the form etc) will be notified, a non-response may result in the Application/Examination being rejected and payment forfeited INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES 1. Do not sit this examination unless you have had your 16th birthday. 2. MROCP – This is a closed book, no aides, and no communication examination. MROVCP -This is an open book examination. Only a copy of one of the AMC produced handbooks is permitted. No scraps of paper, no notes, no aides (electronic or otherwise) and no communication. 3. MROCP exam – One hour is allocated for this examination paper. MROVCP - 30 minutes is allocated for this examination paper. 4. MROCP – There are 50 multiple-choice questions in this paper. MROVCP - There are 25 multiple-choice questions in this paper. 5. MROCP – To pass you must obtain 70% (a minimum of 35 questions correct). MROVCP – To pass you must obtain 70% (a minimum of 18 questions correct). 6. There is only one correct answer to each question. Answer all questions. 8. This question paper remains the property of the Office of Maritime Communications, Australian Maritime College.
