Admission Brochures in 2014 of Renewable Energy and Smart Grid Technology International Training Course 1. Training Background Training program for developing countries is an important part of the Chinese government’s foreign aid of science and technology. "Renewable energy and smart grid technology international training course" is a special training program under such background for students from developing countries. The training course is sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China, and is organized by State Grid Electric Power Research Institute. At present, development of renewable energy and smart grid has become the trend of the world, which is complementary to each other. Renewable energy mainly refers to solar energy, wind energy, ocean energy, etc., which are being studied and promoted. One important research topic of the renewable energy is to transfer such energy into electricity and make power grid to be the carrier, which could realize end use of the energy. Smart grid represents the development direction of the future power grid, and is the platform and important guarantee of the renewable energy development. Coordinated development of renewable energy and smart grid is the inherent requirement of transforming energy & electric power development mode and realizing the sustainable development for countries around the world. 2. Organizer Introduction State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, a subsidiary of State Grid Corporation of China, with its headquarters in Nanjing, is China's largest technology, equipment and service provider of power system automation, water conservancy and hydropower automation, rail transportation, etc. SGEPRI owns many international R&D milestones in UHV, smart grid, and other fields, and also keeps pace with international levels in power dispatching, automation control and information system integration.
