SGA News

Hey Bobcats! The SGA recently did the charity of Pennies for Patients for
children with leukemia and lymphoma. But now we’re going to switch off
from humans, to animals. The SGA’s new charity is to donate supplies to animals in a local animal shelter so they can survive and be happy. It started
on March 7th and ends on March 23rd. Also, in April, Ridgeview Middle
School will vote for MCPS’ SMOB or Student Member Of the Board. They
want to let our voices be heard in the Montgomery County Committee. The
two finalists are Alex Asmiroff and last years winner, Eric Guerci. Finally, the
SGA has a new co-sponsor, Mrs. Braz!! She’s Mr. McNeal's replacement because, he unfortunately had to leave the school. Mrs. Braz was one of the
SGA’s co-sponsors for 17 years in her past years at Ridgeview. That’s it for
this segment of
the SGA news.

The Martian
The Martian was a book-turned movie that has won a Golden Globe award and a couple of Oscar awards. It has one
of the best actors of 2015 and has a good, believable storyline. The movie was a major release, with lots of people getting tickets since
it came out. It was a bit like the movie Gravity,
because they were both about people isolated
because of a disaster in space. The Martian
was filled with plot twists and surprises that
make you feel sympathy for the character. The
movie was a good representation of the book.
The movie was full of plot holes, though it didn’t really explain a lot about the background of how he got
there or what happens before they got on Mars. The explanation of relationships between the characters could also
be added to. The people down on earth and on the spaceships were often overshadowed by the plot and we only
saw Mark Watney for who he was. Overall, It was a movie
worth watching. My rating out of 5 is:
