The Arthur N. Ulrich Company was founded in 1958 and
today is a third-generation family owned, operated and
managed manufacturer’s representative agency. We
specialize in the technical application and sale of high
integrity prime and backup electrical power systems for a
variety of critical infrastructure needs in the railroad,
healthcare, financial, utility, telecom and data processing
fields, among others.

as a manufacturing and value-added subsidiary of the
Arthur N. Ulrich Company. RedHawk specializes in the

alternatives to VRLA batteries and are ideally suited for tight space railway
signaling and infrastructure applications such as trackside signals, switches,

effective control of trains and traffic.

Solar (PV) & Wind
Saft Sunica.plus Ni-Cd Batteries are purpose designed to provide the ideal
energy storage for RES (Renewable Energy Systems). Sunica.plus batteries
offer a number of advantages beyond conventional batteries including:
operation in extreme temperatures, 20+ year life, 10,000 cycles at 15%
depth of discharge, low maintenance and excellent charge efficiency.

Standby Power
Saft Evolion® Li-Ion batteries provide highly efficient, maintenance-free,
safe and reliable backup power for telecom sites and environments – no
matter whether your equipment is inside or outside, on-grid or off-grid, in
a hot or cold place, nearby site or remote.
Supercap
High Power Switch Machines
Also known as ultra-capacitors, the Saft Supercap is specifically designed
to provide high power for starting and switching applications. In a switch
machine application the Supercap works in conjunction with a battery and
can be recharged by the battery circuit.

A75R
SCR Charging Technology
The La Marche A75R Railroad Battery Charger uses proven Silicon
Controlled Rectifier (SCR) charging technology with extensive surge and
lightning protection, a rich feature set, and a very conservative thermal
design. The A75R is available in several configurations and is developed
specifically for use in harsh railroad signaling, highway crossing, and
communications environments.

High-Frequency Charging Technology
The La Marche RHF Railroad Battery Charger features a high-frequency
design and unique communication capabilities. Compared to traditional
SCR railroad battery chargers, high-frequency designs like the RHF
improve operational efficiencies & power factor and feature a significantly
reduced footprint. The RHF is available in several configurations and is
developed specifically for demanding railroad signaling and highway
crossing applications where space is at a premium.

Low Power (Rectifiers up to 1.44kW)
The La Marche LTP is a hybrid AC & DC system; it accommodates
rectifiers and inverter modules in one system. The LTP system operates
as an independent power supply (battery eliminator) and is suitable for
charging many types of batteries.
TPM
Medium Power (Rectifiers 4.5kW per shelf)
The La Marche TPM high-frequency switchmode rectifiers provide a
high power density solution in DC systems and operate as independent
power supplies.
LMHF
High Power (Rectifiers 24kW per shelf)
The La Marche LMHF high-frequency DC system is a highly compact
self-contained power system. The current limiting circuitry, voltage
regulation, high efficiency and high power factor make the LMHF an
ideal choice where power requirements are critical.

Solar Power Systems
Solar (Photovoltaic) Power Systems provide a reliable and proven source of DC power. Solar (PV)
Systems are a perfect fit for railroad wayside applications because they require very little maintenance,
have a 20+ year lifespan and require no ongoing fueling.
RP Series Retractable Mast
Safe and convenient solution for mounting solar arrays to a pole
structure at ground level. Solar arrays can be raised and lowered
along the same axis manually (hand-crank) or via a power drill for
periodic maintenance, troubleshooting and equipment replacement.
Fixed Pole Solar
Cost-effective solution for mounting solar arrays to an aluminum
fixed pole structure. Fixed pole systems can be equipped with an
optional ladder (w/lockable guard) to facilitate periodic maintenance and troubleshooting.
RP Series Retractable Mast
PV PowerStation
The innovative PV PowerStation is a completely integrated system
combining a solar array, charging and monitoring equipment,
batteries, battery box, ballast and adjustable leveling supports. It’s
flexible design makes it a good candidate for wayside applications
where space is at a premium or a pole structure to clear nearby
obstructions is not necessary (ex: deserts, coastal areas, etc.).
Ground Mount
PV PowerStation
Flexible and scalable solar mounting solution when and where
space permits. Good fit for wayside applications with very little
trees or other obstructions (ex: deserts, coastal areas, etc.).
Roof Mount
Mounting solution utilizing often unused real estate. Good fit for
wayside applications with limited space; solar system is mounted to
roof of site bungalow/equipment house.

Fuel Cells
Fuel cells are solid state DC generators that convert chemical energy into electricity. Fuel Cells are
clean, reliable, quiet and have been deployed as extended backup power protection for a variety of
critical infrastructure applications including wayside applications. Fuel cells are a great alternative to
noisy, maintenance intensive diesel/gas generators.
Ultra-USSI
250W Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Ultra-USSI’s P250i solid oxide, propane or natural gas powered fuel
cells provide weeks of reliable, clean, extended backup power
protection for highway crossings, signals and other equipment along
the wayside, ensuring that critical equipment and trains operate without
interruption. The P250i integrates seemlessly with the utility grid,
batteries, generators, solar and wind. Its robust design allows it to
reliably operate in virtually any climate (-40°F to 122°F).
How It Works?
The P250i is designed to work with existing
power infrastructure. Powered by readily
available and low cost propane or natural
gas, the P250i has the ability to sit in standby
mode for months to years at a time monitoring battery voltage and automatically start
when batteries dip below a pre-determined
threshold. After a 25-30 minute startup
period, the fuel cell will begin charging the
batteries and powering the load.

ElectraGen™ ME
2.5kW-5kW PEM Fuel Cells
Ballard’s ElectraGen™ ME proton exchange membrane fuel cells
provide stationary backup power to critical infrastructure applications requiring high reliability and long autonomy with minimal
maintenance. Fueled by a methanol-water based mixture, the
ElectraGen™ ME offers superior performance at a reduced
operating cost compared to fuel cells powered by hydrogen. The
2.5kW and 5kW systems are perfect for providing extended run
backup to sites with high power requirements (ex: control points,
telecom).

Wind Turbines

Primus Windpower Wind Turbines are small, dependable, versatile and
efficient sources of DC power. Wind Turbines are best suited for
applications which average windspeeds of 12mph or greater.
Hybrid w/Solar
Solar & Wind Hybrid Power Systems are a popular option for wayside
applications that experience varying weather conditions throughout the
year. The two power generation systems are combined to cover peak
loads and increase overall system availability and reliability.
Global Thermoelectric TEGs
21W-550W
Global TEGs are extremely reliable, low maintenance, long-life
generators capable of providing continuous DC power. Global TEGs
are designed to run on either propane, butane or natural gas and range in
output size from 15 to 550 watts (can be combined to 5kW). TEGs are
incredibly reliable, due in large part to the fact that they have no moving
parts. TEGs rugged design makes them ideal for continuous long-term
unattended operation in remote locations that may be exposed to harsh
conditions or site visits are difficult (ex: mountainside). TEGs don’t like
to be cycled on/off and will wear prematurely if used in this fashion.
Stirling Engines - Coming Late 2016!
3.5kW to 7.5kW
The Qnergy QRP7500 remote power generator combines high-efficiency
Stirling technology with advanced combustion capabilities to
efficiently transform a variety of fuels and other heat sources into
electricity in the 3.5kW to 7.5kW range. The Qnergy engine is an
exceptionally low maintenance technology that offers long-life
performance; two key features that make it an ideal power solution for
critical remote wayside applications in lieu of less efficient and more
maintenance intensive diesel/gas generators.
* Qnergy Stirling Engines are in the developmental packaging stage and
will not be available until Late 2016.
