I'm happy to report that 51 people donated blood in our parish Red Cross Blood Drive on March 24. Thank you to all who gave the gift of life! I was especially pleased to learn that my blood was going to Children's Hospital. We are blessed here at Holy Cross to have a beautiful Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. It is located at the back of the rectory. Prayerful time spent before the Blessed Sacrament does us a world of good! Thursdays - 7:00 PM Parish Center He 024 2 FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK John Newton was the captain of a slave ship. Caught in a terrible storm, he prayed. Our Lord saved him and his "human carqo" and transformed his life. Mr. Newton later wrote an autobiographical hymn the familiar "Amazing Grace, which spoke of how God released him from his sinful ways. Today the prophet Ezekiel speaks of how God released the Hebrews from exile, and in the Gospel, we hear how Our Lord raises Lazarus from death and releases him from his wrappings and from his past. Lent is the perfect time to return to the Lord and allow Him to release us from any and all things of the past that disturb us. It may be a bad experience, a sinful act or hurtful situation, but all of us are marred and need release. We may let God release us through the Sacrament of Penance, or through an act of forgiveness or through needed counseling. When we do let Our Lord release us, we find the freedom of new life. We can then live in freedom today. N FOOD PANTRY UPDATE Thank you so much for your kindness and very generous donations to our Food Pantry.
