Suitable for individuals who have one of the following: Intermediate GNVQ in a relevant subject, four GCSEs (A-C) or relevant work experience.
The course is a practical, work-related course that includes units in Studio
Production, Computer Technology for Music, Music Sequencing and The
Music Industry. The course also includes study in Production and Music
Composition. The individual will be required to complete an assignment for each unit.
Duration: Approx 24 hours per week for 46 weeks

Complete an additional 5 units and top-up to the BTEC National Diploma in
Music Technology.

Suitable for beginners to the world of making music in recording studios.
The course is a thorough, practical introduction to the essential equipment and processes that contribute to the basic recording process. The course covers all of the essential recording equipment including the mixing desk, microphones,
Protools/Logic Pro recording, signal processors and monitoring along with the professional recording techniques engineers use in the studio.
Duration: 1 evening per week for 8 weeks

Suitable for beginners’ who require an introduction to the world of making music with computers.
The course is a project-based course where individuals will develop skills and techniques that will enable them to create tracks using Logic Pro software and its large selection of instruments and effects.
Individuals will create drum patterns, bass lines, melodies and harmonies. There is also an introduction to synthesisers, arrangement and basic mixing.
Duration: 1 evening per week for 8 weeks

Suitable for individuals who ideally have successfully completed Recording Level 1 or equivalent hands on experience in a studio.
The course covers the mixing desk, microphones, recording devices, signal processors and monitoring the mixing process. Individuals will learn the techniques of the trade and how to avoid to some of the common pitfalls made by engineers and producers.
Duration: 1 evening per week for 8 weeks

Suitable for individuals who have completed either
Introduction to Computer Music Technology or have equivalent hands on experience in music technology software.
The course is an introduction to all aspects of music technology from creating tracks using Logic
Pro, to recording musicians, to preparing for employment in the music industry. Individuals will undertake a number of practical projects to develop their skills in these areas of sequencing, mixing and digital audio sampling. This is a wide-ranging course and is an ideal preparation for BTEC Music
Technology.
Duration: 2 days per week for 12 weeks
