Please note that students who are applying for a Tier 4 Student Visa must be studying either full-time English Language or a full-time course at

Level 3 or above - a course at Level 1 or 2 will not be suitable for a visa application.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old on or before 1 st July 2015 to apply to join our college in September 2015.

The academic year at BMC runs from September to June and our courses will start in September 2015. The only exception is English (ESOL) which has start dates in September 2015 and January 2016.

Why BMC?

Belfast Metropolitan College is the largest public college in Northern Ireland. We offer courses to students aged 16 or over who have completed high school education

(Year 12 HSC). We offer courses at Level 2/GCSE/ Year 12 as well as Level 3/A-levels/

2 year degree in Bangladesh, and Level 5/HND/ Foundation Degree/ 4 year degree in

Bangladesh. Our full-time courses will normally require that students attend class for approximately 18 hours a week.

Belfast Metropolitan College has 6 main campuses and over 120 outcentres. Each campus is equipped with a library, learning resource centre, internet, printing facilities and canteen.

September 2015 full-time courses

A-levels (Level 3) - 2 years

This is equivalent to a two year degree in Bangladesh. This is a two-year full time programme with a minimum of three subjects studied. On successful completion of all three AS subjects (first year) you may progress to take the A2 course (second year) in those subjects. Students achieving passes in two AS subjects may progress to A2 in those subjects as full-time students providing they also take up an AS subject from a prescribed list. On successful completion students can apply to study the 1st year of a Bachelor Degree or other higher education course. Subjects include (subject to change): Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Creative Writing, Economics, English Literature, Film Studies, Geography,

Government & Politics, History, ICT, Mathematics, Media Studies, Physics, Religious Studies, Sociology.

Entrance Requirement: Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed the Year 12 HSC with at least 5 subjects at grade C or above

(especially in the subjects they wish to study). Some subjects may ask for Year 12 English, Maths or Science. Students should also have an

English Language qualification of at least IELTS 5.0 (with at least 4.5 in each element) or equivalent; some subjects may ask for IELTS 5.5.

International fees are £6480 per year.

BTEC Vocational courses (Level 3) - 2 years

This is equivalent to a two year degree in Bangladesh. This is a two-year full time programme where students concentrate on one specialised subject. Subjects include (subject to change): Art, Beauty, Business, Child care, Computing, Engineering, Health and Social Care, Science and

Music. Some one year courses may be available. On successful completion students may be able to apply to study the first year of a Bachelor

Degree or other higher education course.

Entrance Requirement: Students must be at least 16 years old and have completed the Year 12 HSC with at least 4 subjects at grade C or above

(especially in the subjects they wish to study). Some courses may ask for a previous qualification in the subject area and/or a recent criminal records check. Students should also have an English Language qualification of at least IELTS 5.0 (with at least 4.5 in each element) or equivalent; some subjects may ask for IELTS 5.5. International fees are £5135 per year.

Higher National Diploma (Level 5) - 2 years

This is equivalent to a four year degree in Bangladesh. These are valuable higher education qualifications which can lead to employment or a university degree. This is a two-year full time programme and students who successfully complete the HND can apply to go to university for a topcourse to complete their Bachelor degree. Subjects include; Applied Biology, Applied Chemistry, Business (Accounting, Marketing or Knowledge

Management), Computing, Creative Media Production, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Graphic Design, Health & Social Care, Music,

Performing Arts (Acting) and Sport.

Entry Requirement: Students must have completed the Year 12 HSC with at least a grade C in Maths and 3 other subjects. Students must also have a two year Bachelor degree from Bangladesh. Some courses may ask for a previous qualification in the subject area and/or a recent criminal records check. Students should also have at least IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each element). International fees are £6300 per year (a discount may be available for students with good IELTS scores).

Foundation Degree (Level 5) - 2 years

This is equivalent to a four year degree in Bangladesh. These are valuable higher education qualifications which can lead to employment or a university degree. This is a two-year full time programme and students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree can apply to go to university for a top-course to complete their Bachelor degree. Foundation Degrees offer an industrial work placement with a range of local employees. Subjects include; Accounting, Architectural Technology, Building Services, Events Management, Hospitality & Tourism Management, iMedia, Marketing, Property Planning & Housing, Software Engineering, Sustainable Construction and Travel & Tourism Management.

Entry Requirement: Students must have completed the Year 12 HSC with at least a grade C in Maths and 3 other subjects. Students must also have a two year Bachelor degree from Bangladesh. Some courses may ask for a previous qualification in the subject area. Students should also have at least IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each element). International fees are £6300 per year (a discount may be available for students with good

IELTS scores).

Bachelor Degree (Level 6)

This is equivalent to a Masters degree in Bangladesh.

BSc (Hons) Fashion Management.

This is a three-year, full-time programme, validated by Manchester Metropolitan University. Students will attend practical workshops and theory classes, with talks from visiting practitioners and visits to locally based enterprises in the fashion design, production, sourcing and retail sectors. There may be opportunities to display some of your work publicly and attend fashion industry events.

Entry Requirements : Students must have completed the Year 12 HSC with at least a grade C in Maths and 3 other subjects. Students must also have a two year Bachelor degree from Bangladesh with good grades. Students should also have at least IELTS 6.0 (with at least 5.5 in each element). International fees are £6300 per year (a discount may be available for students with good IELTS).

English Language

BMC is now offering the Cambridge exams in PET, FCE and CAE. These programmes are available for 14 weeks (£2400) or 30 weeks (£4500) with start dates in September and January. A summer course may also be offered. Any English Language student wishing to apply for a Tier 4 visa must have IELTS 5.5 with at least 5.0 in each element (please note that this may change depending on UKVI policy). Students wishing to apply for a

Student Visitor Visa should have at least IELTS 4.5 or equivalent (with at least 4.0 in each individual element). Each application will be reviewed individually on a case-by-case basis.
