THE VAN OUTEN AND VAN HOUTEN SHOW
Nine league games before today and both Springfield City and Savik were still searching for their first win of the
season. Both sides lined up with four men in attacking positions with Springfield boss Symonds reminding his
players before kick off how important three points from today’s game could be for their season.
Springfield certainly started the brighter with winger Van outen looking particularly lively and it was no surprise
when he put his side into the lead on 8 minutes. A well timed run inside the full back to latch onto Pernfors pass
befotre sloting the ball home under keeper Van Nistlerooy. He was at it again on 15 minutes after avoiding
Lurgan’s desperate challenge he checked onto his left foot before curling the ball into the top corner. With a 2-0
lead the home fans were in fine voice but they had to wait until the 35th minute before cheering another goal after
Van Houten poked home Brockman’s lay off. There was to be no let up in the second half as Springfield
continued to attack at will with Savik looking a well beaten side. Van Houten added a second half brace to his
tally to earn him the match ball and manager Symonds was very happy chappy with the 6-0 final score. This
result took Springfield out of the bottom three and up to the heady heights of 8th place and some breathing space
from the relegation battle below them.
At the top Lutterworth strolled to an 8-0 win over injury hit Tuath De Danan and Knight’s 29th minute goal was
enough to give Deane Rangers a vital win over Regional Rovers to move them into 2nd place after Thistle were
held to a 0-0 draw at home by Lichfield Tigers.
Butler curled home a magnificent free-kick into the
top corner from 25 yards to complete a great hat-trick
to leave boss McCrudden singing his praises in the
post match interviews. Barneys stay in 2nd place
despite this result but Aero Force have now closed
the gap to just 2 points.
IRISH EYES ARE SMILING
It was 3rd vs 2nd in Division 2 today as Wee Seamy’s
Aero Force team took on Barneys Devils whose boss
Wells has done brilliantly to get some fine performances
from his team this season. What followed surprised just
about everyone after Aero Force put on an attacking
master class in their best performance of the season to
date. Instrumental throughout was Wag Butler who was
unplayable throughout. On 14 minutes he seized on a
slip by Boor and advanced into the penalty area before
firing into the bottom corner. Just three minutes later he
was on hand to side foot home Tromso’s cross to the
back post. Straight from the kick off he robbed Zappa of
the ball before racing forward and crossing for
Medvedev to head home. Barneys were struggling to
get into the game with Tromso and Kaunda bossing
midfield to supply chance after chance for the forwards.
Ragnar Rok provided the perfect end to the half for the
home side with a brilliant solo goal as he waltzed
through the Barneys defence before calmly slotting the
ball home to give his side a 4-0 lead. The second half
didn’t have the same intensity as the first but the goal
the home side craved arrived on 89 minutes when Wag
Elsewhere all the other sides in the top 6 won which
results in just 4 points separating 2nd to 6th place while
Barstow continue serenely on at the top after a 6-1
win at home over Greyhawk.
ASHCROFT SERVED COLD MASH
BY RIVER PLATE
Auto FC have enjoyed a fine start to the league
season, sitting 5 points clear of nearest rivals
Kelchester Utd with 7 wins to their name already.
They travelled to mid table and inconsistent River
Plate today with boss Ashcroft recently returned
from a manager’s conference in Norwich. His time
away hadn’t done much to help relax though after
being found to frequently shout about potatoes with
mash and boiled with butter proving particular
favourites! Plate boss Samson had done his

homework with both Comment and Bankrept Nation
assigned to marking duties which they both performed
brilliantly to tip the odds in their favour. The first half
was a tame affair in truth but the home side were up
for it from the start of the second and pressed Auto
back and having to rely on sweeper Skoda to save
them on more than one occasion with timely
interceptions. He was powerless to prevent River
Plate open the scoring on 60 minutes when some fine
link up play between attacking midfielders Barry and
Matabele resulted in the recent signing from West
Yorkshire looping home a fine header from 10 yards.
With (G) Inccie well shackled there was no way back
for Auto and they slip to their second defeat of the
season.
UP FOR THE THE CUP
THIRD ROUND REPLAY HIGHLIGHTS
Brave performance from Royalle FC from Division 4 but
the extra class and some effective man marking from
Barneys saw them edge this replay 2-0. Going into the
last 10 minutes it looked as though the game was
heading for extra time until two goals in a minute from
midfielder Odobe wun dwee and striker Rat handed
them victory*****Another goal fest between Kelchester
and Saturnalia but with home advantage and the lethal
Esltrup and Callaghan partnership in full flow they
emerged with a 7-4 victory. Disappointment though for
the visitors as after 15 minutes they were 3-1 ahead but
then the Kelchester attacking machine clicked into top
gear and found the Saturnalia defence to be easy
pickings.
All three teams below them won to make the race for
promotion a really intriguing one now with only two
points between Auto at the top and West Yorkshire in
4th. With the games coming thick and fast as we move
towards the half way point in the season this is the
time when a good run is needed to keep your team in
the top three.
BOWLING ALONG
SECOND ROUND HIGHLIGHTS
Close game between Spring Town and Gateshead with
defences well on top and it petered out into a tame 0-0
draw. Who will take a risk and attack their opponents to
give the supporters something to cheer in the
replay?*****Excellent second half performance from Inter
Dene sees them outclass opponents Foggia Flyers 6-1
with f ive dif f er ent player s on the s c or e
sheet*****Cochrane’s 19th minute volley was all that
separated Chigley and Hearts Brigade and to be
honest visiting manager Stevens can feel rightly
aggrieved they did not force a replay based on their
performance*****From the moment Syren flicked home
Grunge Miller’s 3rd minute free-kick the writing was on
the wall for poor Savik. In the end they escaped with just
a 6-0 hammering and their suffering fans can’t wait for
the season to end*****Even with two key men still
missing Tuath should have progressed at the first time
of asking against Cedar Athletic. They did hold a 1-0
lead at half time courtesy of Buckley’s 37th minute
header but a slip in concentration by captain Finn on 53
minutes resulted in striker Atacama striding into the
penalty area with purpose and he didn’t waste his
chance to pull the scores level. Onto the replay now
BATTLE ROYALLE
Continuing with the theme of close run battles for
promotion it seems Division 4 is also going to be one
to watch over the next few months to see who
manages to run into form at the right time. SS Gt
Britain had started the season in superb form but their
defeat by the young Lawton brothers last time out set
the alarm bells ringing amongst their supporters. Could
boss Thornhill handle the pressure of being league
leaders by getting his team back on track by beating
4th placed Hearts Brigade was the question on
everyone’s lips as they entered the ground.
Unfortunately for them the answer was no after rival
boss Stevens managed to re-focus back onto KA
duties to mastermind his team to a 1-0 victory. Not a
game for the neutral this one with few chances but
with a dominant midfield and a slick offside trap it was
Hearts who scored the crucial goal on 38 minutes
courtesy of Pontivedra’s low left footed finish.
Chigley’s good form continued with an easy 2-0 win at
home over Spring Town to pull them level on points
with SS Gt Britain. Celta Ilford boss Barrett was
delighted after a hard fought 1-0 victory over derby
rivals Scarlett City. Striker Villa was the hero when
his 54th minute header evaded the grasp of keeper
Robertson to hand them a vital 3 points from their
only effort on target.
BULK PAYMENT OF TURN FEES -
remember if you pay £51.00 at
one time (which can cover more
than one team) you get an extra
free turn credited to your
account. This offer does not
include shomatch/weekend
monies!
The last of the teams pushing for a promotion spot are
Royalle FC who followed up their fine win at SS Gt
Britain with a 4-0 rout over struggling AFC Europa.
Paddy O’Reilly opened the scoring on the half hour
mark to set them on their way before three second half
goals including a brace from targetman Majowski
eased them to victory.
2
Callaghan imperious throughout they were good
value for their 7-1 triumph. All over bar the shouting
this tie I think*****Lichfield Tiger fans went home with
the bragging rights over fierce derby rivals Hollywood
Hawks after seeing young midfield maestro
Dariondon scored the only goal of the game. Not
many chances in this one but Lichfield’s marking
gave them the edge and on 65 minutes Adams’ snap
shot crashed against the underside of the crossbar
and Dariondon reacted quickest to slot the ball
home*****Playing in front of the KA cameras couldn’t
inspire Thistle Rovers or Lutterworth to produce an
attacking master class. Instead the game was played
mostly in the midfield third and when chances to score
did come along both sides players were willing to put
their bodies on the line to keep the game at 0-0. Slight
edge for Lutterworth boss Molloy now with one goal
likely to prove decisive.
STANDING ORDER PAYMENTS - you can
also pay your turn fees by standing order now.
Contact us for details about how to do this and
remember that this is not only the way to spread
your payments over the year rather than having
to find a lump sum at the start of every season,
but it is also the way to avoid those dreaded
double turn fees. With SO payments this can’t
happen.
which the 1st Division side really should win*****Topaz
thought they had got out of jail away against Newark
as they battled back from 2-0 down to 2-2 with 10
minutes left to play, Newark striker Paris had other
ideas though and his 85th minute strike would have
been saved by a better keeper than Dmitrov but the
youngster had to watch in horror as the ball squirmed
under his body and into the net.
TRANSFER TOPICS
The golden oldie auction sees Deane Rangers pick
up three squad players to raise their average squad
age to the oldest in the league. Plenty of cover now
should injuries and suspension bite later on in the
season. PSV Wycombe pick up midfielder Ofwerman
for 324k and he should bring some star quality and
experience to their midfield.
THE BOWL 2nd Round Draw
INTER DENE VS BUCKSBURN
CARSHALTON(NL)/STEVENAGE(NL) VS NEWARK
NOMADS
GATESHEAD UTD/SPRING TOWN VS CHIGLEY
TOWN
Some interesting deals between managers with
Regional Rovers picking up their 7th (yes 7) star by
signing midfielder Schneider from Lutterworth for
just over £2m.
TUATH DE DANAN/CEDAR ATHLETIC VS
TELFORD(NL)/NORTHWICH(NL)
Tie of the round sees Inter Dene entertain Bucksburn
and I think the winner of this game will be hot
favourites to win the Bowl. Newark and the winner of
the Tuath/Cedar replay should ease past non league
opposition. An all 4 t h Division affair sees
Gateshead/Spring Town entertain high flying Chigley
with lady magnet KP hoping to steer his side into the
semi-finals here no doubt. My tips to progress are in
bold, my apologies to all!
Whiteside clearly wasn’t interested in staying in
Division 3 and makes a swift return to the top flight as
he joins Lichfield Tigers with all action midfielder
Yashin moving in the opposite direction. Lichfield
also decide against selling winger to King to rivals
Regional Rovers and instead use him to entice
Paddy O’Riley to join them from Royalle. Rock-ANore add La Plievre to their talented midfield after
paying over £1m to Royalle for his services.
LEAGUE CUP QUARTER-FINAL 1st
Legs
MANAGER OF THE MONTH
DIVISION ONE:
goes to manager BROOKS of
Deane Rangers, great win over a dangerous
Regional Rovers team to gain what could prove to be
a vital 3 points.
Brilliant acumen by Clifton Reds boss Armstrong
who deployed a perfect 4-2-4 formation which blunted
the dangerous five man Celta Ilford forward line. With
O’Donnell superbly marshalling midfield this left
Hartnett free to add his weight to the Clifton attack
and the home defence just couldn’t cope. If keeper
McNamara hadn’t been in inspired form the end result
would have been far worse than the 2-0 end
result*****Poor Bucksburn are the latest team to fall
foul of the relentless attacking pressure applied by
Kelchester. Two goals in the opening 10 minutes set
the scene of what was to come and with Elstrup and
DIVISION TWO:. goes to manager MCCRUDDEN of
Aero Force, bringing Barney’s down to earth with a
crushing 5-0 victory.
DIVISION THREE: goes to manager SAMSON of
River Plate, perfect tactics to beat the league leaders.
DIVISION FOUR: goes to PRESLAND of Chigley
Town, now joint leaders and going strong in the Bowl.

MAY WEEKEND 2015
We are coming back to Margate for a weekend in the spring of next year.Using the
Glenwood hotel again a good standard hotel, with our own bar and room to use. and
within walking distance of the delights and flesh pots of Margate and the Belle Vue
pub. Though after the last Margate wekend I think there will be sorties to Ramnsgate
instead, which is a better place for entertainment
Cost to Spellbinder for the weekend is £35 and the weekend will start after breakfast
on the Friday so you really need to be there on the Thursday night unless you have a
short distance to travel.
Weekend starts on Friday 15th of May, and finishes on the evening of saturday the
17th.

KICKABOUT SERVICES
MAILING - rather than sending SELFSEALING SSAE's, rather than getting
charged a £1 postage when you neglect to
send one in or if they don't arrive. Pay for allseason mailing and we provide the envelope,
the stamp, and the sticky label as well. No sweat. A
season costs £25.00 overseas, £15.00 UK, or pro
rataish if started during the season.
ALL EMAIL - if you have shomatch/ teampick
then you can elect not to have any
hardcopies sent to you at all as everything
can be done by email. Just let us know if you
wish to do this in future. Handy for those
abroad or in difficult postal areas. If you play in more
than one league, and paid for all season mailing it's
actually cheaper to buy shomatch and do it
this way.
NEW WEB-SITE
is now up and running,
www.Kickaboutonline.
co.uk to see the goodies
including a regular
TEAMPICK/ SHOMATCH/ MARKINFO - all the
info you need for these programs is at www.Teampick.co.uk
THE KICKABOUT COMMUNITY
EMAIL CHAT LIST - yes, you can subscribe to our email discussion group. There
is a list for general Kickabout topics, a list for each individual league, one for the
vulcano, one for teampick subscribers, even one for the weekend players. Learn
more about the game, talk to other players and the Gm. To subscribe to the main list
send a blank email to Kickabout-subscribe@yahoogroups.com. For others you do
the same except put the league, name with Ka- infront of subscribe. However, some
league lists have an ending in .co.uk instead of .com, so if one doesn't work then
please try the other!!
One thing to note about subscribing to the list, we post a regular schedule of where
every league is in the processing schedule, when it is sent out, when the latest
return-by-date is. This is of great help and if you have email you should really be
receiving this.
MARKING INFO - Tim Dodge has put together a clever little program that
allowss shomatch subscribers to gather all the international squads
together each session so that you can use that info to get marking info.
Shomatch/ teampick subscribers get a file sent out a file with all the int
squads listed and this program pulls them all together. Makes it easier

England wrap up winning group 1 by handing out a 6-0
thrashing to struggling Hungary at Wembley in front of
over 62k adoring fans. They were dominant from the start
and they were 4-0 up at the break before exhibition stuff in
the second half.
Russia sneak 2nd spot ahead of Africa courtesy of a 1-0
win in Amsterdam over Holland. Sergi scored the crucial
goal on 28th minutes following a good spell of pressure by
the Russians.

GROUP 2
Africa were held to a 0-0 draw at Hampden and as a
result have to settle for 3rd place in the group.
In Group 2 South America and Asia were already
assured of a top two finish but it was the home side who
secured top spot with a single goal victory. A flowing move
on 24 minutes from back to front resulted in Stoppa
sweeping home at the back post to send the South
American fans crazy in the stands.
Figo’s 64th minute free-kick was enough to give them
victory over Spain who have had a wretched campaign to
date.

France condemn USA to finish bottom of the group after
an entertaining game ended 5-3 with all eight goals scored
in an amazing first half. The France boss can now reflect

hadn’t got injured in their first group game.

HOW AND WHEN YOUR CASH IS ADDED TO YOUR TEAM CASH BALANCES
Some managers seem to find it difficult to get their heads round the ways and whereas that cash gets added to
your Team cash balances. SO to try to explain it a little more here goes.
How cash appears:
1. Most appears listed according to source [A]
2. Some cash, mostly corrections, appears as miscellaneous [B]
3. Rep squad and int squad cash appears in your 'cash' value in the turn the squads are produced [C]
4. Euro gate receipts appear in the balance brought forward in the turn following the match [D]

WEEKENDS AND THE RATINGS
GOD won the last Kickabout weekend, which made me think about the whole weekend
process. Now He wins because hE thinks about the weekend, doesn't drink himself silly, or
get sidetracked by other things.
So perhaps I should re-iterate what it takes to win the weekend (acumen, acumen, acumen ha
ha!), by re-stating the ratings and how you win them! There are a number of categories in the
ratings, and at the end of each session the program, ranks everybody in these categories.
Whoever is the best/ highest/ lowest in the relevant category, gets one point, the next two
points and all the way down to the bottom. These are then added up and the player with the
lowest overall totals wins the ratings. Simple.~
What are these categories, well, here goes, with the weightings of each category besides
them:-

It is up to the players to manage these, lots of success is to do with winning games etc., but also allocating their
cash in an intelligent matter. Though this CAN be difficult when the pints are being stacked up infront of you.
CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS Can be made to us using the PAYPAL service. So if you want
to pay anything by credit card then you could register with them and give it a try. Also note
that if you send your payments as a gift ALL of the cash reaches us without any paypal
