The Bison defeated the Gophers 27-21 in the last meeting, back on Oct. 20, 2007. u Through three weeks of the 2011 season, Minnesota’s rushing defense ranks No. 4 in the Big Ten Conference and No. 31 in the nation, allowing an average of just 93.3 yards per game. u Punter Dan Orseske ranks No. 12 in the nation in punting average (45.73 yards per punt). u Minnesota has come from behind in each of its last 10 victories. The last time the Gophers won a game without trailing was a 17-6 win at Purdue on Oct. 25, 2008. u Minnesota had played 127 seasons of college football, coming into the 2011 season. Only three other schools -- Rutgers (141), Michigan (131) and Navy (130) have played more. DONE WITH THE DAKOTAS This week’s matchup with North Dakota State will be the last meeting between the Gophers and one of their Dakota neighbors for a while. Minnesota has played a team from North or South Dakota in four of the past five years. But the word Dakota does not appear on the Minnesota schedules again until 2015, when South Dakota State is slated to visit TCF Bank Stadium. LAST TIME OUT (Sept. 17, 2011) -- Coach Jerry Kill returned to the Minnesota sideline one week after suffering a seizure during a game and watched Marqueis Gray rack up 334 total yards in a 29-23 victory over Miami (Ohio). Gray threw for 163 yards and rushed for 171 more and Duane Bennett blocked a punt and returned it for a TD to hand Kill his first victory as coach of the Golden Gophers. Zac Dysert threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns and Nick Harwell had 12 catches for 162 yards for the RedHawks. Miami drove the ball to the Minnesota 20 in the closing moments. With his hands on his knees, Kill watched Kim Royston breakup the final pass of the game, and the student section serenaded him with chants of “Jerry! Jerry!” as he walked off a winner for the first time in maroon and gold. Kill made it through the game without incident, a big relief to Gophers fans and his players who watched him collapse at the end of last week’s loss to New Mexico State. He spent five days in the hospital and didn’t rejoin the team until Thursday. His first game back was no cake walk. The Gophers were clinging to a seven-point lead early in the fourth when Bennett came off the left edge and blocked Zac Murphy’s punt. The ball hung in the air and he plucked it out of the air just before falling into the end zone for the TD and a 29-16 lead. Dysert drove Miami 80 yards in 2:34 on the next possession, scrambling and finding Dawan Scott wide open in the end zone to keep it interesting. LAST TIME vs. NDSU (Oct. 20, 2007) -- Minnesota was defeated by North Dakota State, 27-21 in front of 63,088 fans at the Metrodome. A decisive roughing the punter penalty against Minnesota with just under two minutes remaining in the game extended North Dakota State’s final drive and sealed the victory. Leading by six, the Bison offense took over with 5:40 remaining on the clock. The Gopher defense, which had allowed 352 yards rushing at that point, held firm and forced the Bison into a punting situation. Dom Barber broke through and tried to block the punt but fell into the punter’s legs drawing the flag. Minnesota collected 307 yards of total offense to North Dakota State’s 585. Bison junior running Tyler Roehl was the star of the game, running for a school-record 263 yards on 22 carries. Adam Weber led the Gophers with 162 yards passing and one touchdown. Kill came to Minnesota after spending three seasons on the sidelines at Northern Illinois University. Kill led the Huskies to three consecutive bowl games during his tenure. He also coached NIU to a berth the Mid-American Conference Championship game in 2010. Kill put together a 23-16 record in his three seasons with the Huskies. In three seasons, Kill coached two winners of the Mid-American Conference Vern Smith Leadership Award, given annually to the conference’s top football player. Defensive end Larry English won the award in 2008, Kill’s first season with the Huskies. Running back Chad Spann was honored as the conference’s top player in 2010. English went on to be the No. 16 overall choice in the 2009 NFL Draft and currently plays for the San Diego Chargers. During the 2010 season, Kill mentored six first-team All-MAC selections. In his three seasons, the Huskies earned 10 first-team all-MAC honors. His 2010 squad ranked No. 7 in the nation in rushing offense, No. 12 in scoring offense, No. 19 in total offense, No. 14 in scoring defense, No. 26 in total defense, No. 24 in rushing defense and No. 44 in passing defense. Following the 2010 season, Kill was named the National Coach of the Year by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In 2009, Kill was presented with the National Football Foundation Courage Award by the Chicago Metro Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame. Kill’s overall collegiate head coaching record stood at 127-73 in 17 seasons coming into the 2011 campaign. In four stops as a head coach, he has never left a school with a sub-.500 record. In three of his previous four head coaching positions, he took over a team with a losing record and turned in a winning season in three years or less. Prior to serving as the head coach at Northern Illinois, Kill was head coach at Southern Illinois University, an FCS program in Carbondale, Ill. He spent seven years on the Saluki sideline and compiled a 55-32 record. Kill’s record over his final five seasons with Southern Illinois was 50-14 and included five consecutive NCAA FCS Playoff appearances. Kill was the head coach at Emporia (Kan.) State for two seasons in 1999-2000. He went 11-11 with the Hornets, who play at the NCAA Division II level. Prior to coaching at Emporia State, Kill was the head coach at NCAA Division II member Saginaw Valley State from 1994-1998. He compiled a 38-14 record with the Cardinals. www.GOPHERSPORTS.com 2011 GOPHER FOOTBALL MINNESOTA vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE KILLER LOYALTY GOPHERS’ RECORD... Kill has made five different head coaching stops -- Saginaw Valley State (Mich.), Emporia (Kan.) State, Southern Illinois, Northern Illinois and Minnesota. Of the other five, two of the head coaches have been at one school for their entire careers. The other three have only made two head coaching stops. JERRY’S KIDS With the school year beginning last week, Minnesota added numerous players to its roster. The roster now includes 119 student-athletes. Of those 119 players, 78 of them (65.5 percent) are either true freshmen, red-shirt freshmen or sophomores. The Gophers are only carrying 41 upperclassmen on the roster. Here’s the full breakdown of each class for the Gophers: Freshmen - 53; Sophomores - 25; Juniors - 21; Seniors - 20. 128 YEARS AND COUNTING ... There’s little doubt that the University of Minnesota is one of the most historically significant programs in all of college football. The Golden Gophers are in their 128th season of collegiate football in 2010. The Golden Gophers enter the 2011 campaign with an all-time record of 643-453-44 (.582 winning percentage). Minnesota has played the fourth-most seasons in the history of college football. Only Rutgers (139), Michigan (129) and Navy (128) have played more. In addition, Minnesota and Wisconsin also take part in the most-played rivalry in college football. The Gophers and Badgers will square off for the 121st time this fall. GOPHER CHAMPIONSHIPS Minnesota has won six national championships and 18 Big Ten titles in the 127-year history of the Gopher football program. It was his second consecutive week with 100 yards rushing. The last Minnesota QB to rush for 100+ in back-to-back games was Billy Cockerham in 1999. Two weeks ago, Gray passed for 211 yards and rushed for 110 more. It was the first time a Gopher passed and rushed for 100 or more since Cockerham did it vs. Iowa in 1999. Cockerham was also the last Gopher QB to pass for 200+ and rush for 100+ (218, 156 vs. Illinois St., Sept. 18, 1999). QUARTERBACK NOTEBOOK u Gray is the No. 3 rusher in the Big Ten, averaging 109.3 yards per game. In fact, the top three rushers in the Big Ten are all signal-callers (T. Martinez, Nebraska, 128.0, D. Robinson, Michigan, 117.3). u Gray recorded career-high marks for completions (16), attempts (32), yards (211), touchdowns (2) and interceptions (2) two weeks ago vs. New Mexico State. u For his career, Gray has now thrown 88 passes, with 42 completions for 554 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions. u Gray hauled in 42 receptions for 587 yards and five touchdowns last season as a wide receiver. u Gray signed with Minnesota as one of the most highly-touted members of the 2008 recruiting class. and enrolled at Minnesota in January 2009. He was the No. 3 dual-threat QB in the ’08 recruiting class. u True freshman Max Shortell was 7-of-13 with one interception and one touchdown, while throwing for 98 yards at USC in his college debut at USC. He was 2-of-7 for 27 yards last week vs. NMSU. u The only other quarterback on the roster to see game action is Adam Lueck. However, the junior has only been on the field as a holder for point-after-touchdown and field goal attempts. BENNETT’S BIG BLOCK u Starting running back Duane Bennett was held to just 12 yards on seven carries vs. Miami (Ohio). He saw backup tailback Donnell Kirkwood rush 13 times for 55 yards vs. the RedHawks. But he still managed to contribute to the victory. Bennett’s blocked punt and return for a TD accounted for the winning margin and earned him Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week honors. RUNNING BACK NOTEBOOK u Kirkwood made his backfield debut against Miami. His first two carries went for four yards each, with the first accounting for a first down and the second a touchdown. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry. u Kirkwood is a freshman, but played in Minnesota’s first four games last season, rushing for 112 yards on 27 carries. He was granted a medical red-shirt after an injury saw him miss the rest of 2010. u Bennett scored the Gophers’ first touchdown of the 2011 season, rumbling in from nine yards out in the third quarter at USC in the season opener. It was his 15th career rushing TD and 20th TD overall. u Bennett topped the century mark in two games last season, giving him three total for his career. He rushed for a career-best 187 in the 2010 season-opener at Middle Tennessee St. He also has two 100yard receiving games (121, Oct. 31, 2009 vs. Michigan St. and 100, Sept. 6, 2008 at Bowling Green). u The only other tailback to carry the ball for Minesota in the first three weeks has been red-shirt freshman Lamonte Edwards. He has eight carries for 11 yards and one touchdown. MALCOLM NOT IN THE MIDDLE u Sophomore wide receiver Malcolm Moulton got things started for the Minnesota offense last week vs. Miami (Ohio) and he did it on the edge of the defense, despite his reputation for making receptions over the middle. Moulton took a quick pass from Gray out near the Minnesota sideline and raced 59 yards to the Miami 25-yard line. That play led to a Gopher field goal, tying the game at 3-3 and giving Minnesota a score on its first possession for the first time this season. Moulton finished the day as the Gophers’ leading receiver with four catches for 72 yards. www.GOPHERSPORTS.com MINNESOTA vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE 2011 GOPHER FOOTBALL RECEIVER NOTEBOOK GOPHER RADIO NETWORK u Senior Da’Jon McKnight has four 100-yard receiving games to his credit, including week two vs. New Mexico State (career-best 146 yards). Two of those four were back-to-back last season, when he had 123 yards at Purdue and 103 yards vs. Penn State on Oct. 16 and Oct. 23, respectively. u McKnight’s other century-mark-topping output came in the 2009 Insight Bowl, when he turned in a seven-reception, then-career-best 124-yard outing vs. Iowa State. McKnight is on the Biletnikoff Watch List. u Prior to this season, Brandon Green hadn’t caught a pass in a game since Nov. 14, 2009. His lone reception vs. USC was big, a 12-yard TD that pulled the Gophers within two in the fourth quarter. He added two more receptions for 24 yards vs. NMSU and one for eight yards vs. Miami (Ohio). u Moulton and true freshman Marcus Jones each made their first career receptions in the opener at USC. Moulton now has 10 receptions for 146 yards. Jones has five for 70. u Senior TE Eric Lair is is on the watch list for the Mackey Award as the nation’s top tight end. After being shut out by New Mexico State, he came back with a two-reception, 55-yard performance vs. Miami. His 43-yard reception early in the second quarter was one yard shy of a career-long. u Junior transfer tight end John Rabe made his first career reception a big one. It was a one-yarder from Gray for a touchdown to put the Gophers on top 23-16 vs. Miami last week. The Gopher Sports Network presented by AlarmForce distributes its digital quality audio stream via satellite to affiliates across the state of Minnesota. KFAN (100.3 FM) in the Twin Cities will serve as the flagship station. EXPERIENCE UP FRONT u Four of Minnesota’s starting five on the offensive line have a good deal of experience. Three of those linemen are fifth-year seniors -- left guard Chris Bunders, right guard Ryan Orton and center Ryan Wynn. Sophomore left tackle Ed Olson has now started 11 games at that position. Bunders is by far the most experienced with 31 career starts after last week’s game. OFFENSIVE LINE NOTEBOOK u Minnesota has a combined 62 starts among all its offensive linemen returning from the 2010 season. All of those starts come from the four aforementioned players. Wynn now has 17 career starts, while Orton has been in the starting lineup 13 times. u Wynn started 13 straight games as a red-shirt freshman. He missed all of 2009 with a back injury and saw limited action last season. u Only three of the 13 starts for Orton came last season. Six of his starts were tallied when he was a red-shirt freshman in 2008. u Red-shirt freshman Jimmy Gjere made his first career start at right tackle at USC. u Backup and true freshman lineman Tommy Olson now has three kickoff returns this season. u Red-shirt freshman Zac Epping saw his first action on the offensive line last week in relief of Orton. DROUGHT OVER u True freshman Michael Amaefula picked up the Gophers’ first sack of the season early in the second quarter vs. Miami (Ohio). Minnesota ranked dead last (No. 120 out of 120 FBS schools) in sacks for the 2010 season, tallying just nine. They had been shut out through the first two games this season. The Gophers had gone without a sack in eight of their previous 14 games before Saturday. Amaefula was an All-District and All-Metroplex selection coming out of Arlington (Texas) Bowie High School. DEFENSIVE LINE NOTEBOOK Mike Grimm will be in his first season calling the Gophers’ play-by-play. Darrell Thompson, the all-time leading rusher in school history, returs to the booth this season as the analyst. KFAN personality Justin Gaard will report from the sideline. Kevin Falness will host the pre-game show, while Corbu Stathes will handle halftime and post-game. He finished the year with three sacks, three tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. u The Gophers now have 11 different defensive linemen who have seen action in 2011. Kevin Falness, Darrell Thompson, Corbu Stathes, Mike Grimm, Justin Gaard www.GOPHERSPORTS.com PG. 7 2011 GOPHER FOOTBALL GOPHERS’ 2011 SCHEDULE AMONG NATION’S BEST Minnesota’s 2011 schedule has been ranked by numerous experts as one of the tougher schedules in the nation. According to Phil Steele, Minnesota has the No. 21 toughest schedule among all 120 FBS teams. • Seven of Minnesota’s 11 FBS opponents are either ranked or receiving votes in either the Associated Press Top 25 or the USA Today Top 25. Four of those opponents are in the Top 25 in one or both of those polls. • Eight of Minnesota’s 11 FBS opponents played in bowl games last season. • Five of Minnesota’s six FBS opponents that will visit TCF Bank Stadium played in a bowl game last season. • Four teams (Miami, Nebraska, Michigan State, Wisconsin) on Minnesota’s 2011 schedule are coming off seasons with 10 wins or more. Two of those teams (Michigan State and Wisconsin) had 11-win seasons. • Minnesota’s 2011 opponents averaged nearly eight victories in 2010. 2011 Minnesota Opponents Team 2010 Record 2011 Record USC 8-5 3-0 Notes: QB Matt Barkley and WR Robert Woods set records for completions and receptions, but the Trojans barely hung on to defeat Minnesota by a 19-17 tally. New Mexico State 2-10 1-2 Notes: New Mexico State took an early 21-7 lead and then held on for a 28-21 victory in the Gophers’ home opener. Gopher QB MarQueis Gray passed for 211 and rushed for 110 in the loss. Miami (Ohio) 10-4 0-2 Notes: The Gophers picked up their first win of the season and the Jerry Kill era vs. Miami, despite 325 yards passing from RedHawks quarterback Zac Dysert. North Dakota State 9-5 2-0 Notes: The Bison advanced to the quarters of the NCAA FCS Playoffs last year. NDSU defeated Kansas 6-3 last year. The Bison have played an FBS opponent five straight years, going 2-3. Michigan 7-6 3-0 Notes: Minnesota has not faced the Wolverines since the 2008 season at the Metrodome, when Michigan won 29-6. The Little Brown Jug game will now be annual, with both teams in the Legends Division. Purdue 4-8 2-1 Notes: The Boilermakers lost starting quarterback Rob Henry to an ACL tear just more than a week prior to the season-opener. Purdue’s wins last year were over W. Illinois, Ball State, Minnesota and Indiana. Nebraska 10-4 3-0 Notes: The Huskers advanced to the Big 12 Championship game for the second straight year in 2010. NU fell to Washington 19-7 in the Holiday Bowl after beating UW 56-21 in the regular season. Iowa 8-5 2-1 Notes: The Hawkeyes rebounded from a regular-season-ending loss to Minnesota to defeat Missouri 27-24 at the Insight Bowl. Iowa returns nine starters from last year’s squad. Michigan State 11-2 2-1 Notes: The Spartans won a share of their first Big Ten title since 1990 last year, falling only to Iowa in the regular season and to Alabama in the Capital One Bowl. Wisconsin 11-2 3-0 Notes: The Badgers made their first trip to the Rose Bowl since 2000, but fell in Pasadena to TCU. Wisconsin returns 12 starters and 56 lettermen from last year’s team. Northwestern 7-6 2-1 Notes: The Wildcats lost just 14 lettermen from last season’s team and have 56 returning. Northwestern fell 45-38 in the Ticket City Bowl to Texas Tech at the end of last season. Illinois 7-6 3-0 Notes: The Illini rolled to a 38-14 victory over Baylor at the Texas Bowl to wrap up last season. Illinois’ 67-65, three-overtime loss to Michigan may have been the most entertaining game of 2010. PG. 8 MINNESOTA vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE HANGIN’ WITH MR. COOPER u Junior linebacker Keanon Cooper turned in nine tackles, the second-most on the team last week vs. Miami (Ohio). Cooper, who is playing with a cast on an injured wrist, leads the Gopher linebackers with 22 total tackles this season, which is tied second-most on the squad. Cooper has also turned in two tackles-for-loss and forced a fumble so far this season. For his career, Cooper has seen action in 28 games with 13 starts. He has racked up 133 tackles as a Gopher, including nine tackles-for-loss. LINEBACKER NOTEBOOK u Junior Mike Rallis has been bitten by the injury bug throughout his career. But despite playing in just nine 2010 games, Rallis ranked fourth on the team in TFL (6.0) and led the team in interceptions (3). u Rallis is currently fifth on the team with 20 total tackles. He made two key fourth-quarter pass breakups in last week’s victory over Miami. u Senior Gary Tinsley is the Gophers’ starting middle linebacker. He has 13 total tackles, 1.5 tacklesfor-loss and two pass break-ups this year. He will also line up on the end of the line in nickel packages. u Junior Ryan Grant has a good football bloodline. His grandfather Bud was a legendary Gopher athlete and long-time Vikings head coach. His father Mike has coached six state championship teams at Eden Prairie High School. He has seen action in all three games this season. u Linebacker may be the deepest position on the Gopher squad. Minnesota had eight linebackers record tackles during 2010 and all eight return to the team. However, two linebackers expected to contribute in 2011 -- Brendan Beal and Aaron Hill -- have not played in 2011 due to injury. KIM-POSSIBLE u Senior safety Kim Royston wasn’t even supposed to be on the 2011 version of the Gopher football team. He thought his career might be over when he suffered a gruesome compound fracture of his lower leg. His initial recovery went well enough that he thought he would play in 2010. But the recovery saw a setback derail his senior season. However, the NCAA granted him a sixth year of eligibility. SECONDARY NOTEBOOK u Royston has made exactly 10 tackles in each of Minnesota’s first three games to lead the team with 30 stops. His lone pass breakup this season came on the last play vs. Miami to preserve a victory. u Senior cornerback Troy Stoudermire has a pair of interceptions already this season, which is tied for eighth in the nation. He also has two pass breakups and leads the team with three tackles-for-loss. u Stoudermire is a converted wide receiver and the Big Ten’s all-time leader in kick return yardage. u Senior defensive back Christyn Lewis picked up his first start of the season vs. Miami last week. u Senior safety Shady Salamon is also a conversion project from the offensive side of the ball. He came to Minnesota as a running back and started two games as a true freshman. u Sophomore CB Brock Vereen recorded his first career INT vs. New Mexico State. u Vereen leads the team with four pass break-ups. His 13 tackles vs. USC are a Gopher season-high. BOOK ’EM DAN O. u After averaging 36.1 yards per punt last season to rank No. 94 in the nation, sophomore Dan Orseske has rebounded in a big way through the first three games of the 2011 season. Orseske has punted 11 times for an average of 45.7 yards. Orseske’s punting has helped lead Minnesota to a No. 12 ranking in net punting through the first three games of the season, averaging 42 yards of field position per punt. SPECIALIST NOTEBOOK u Orseske ranks No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 12 in the nation. He has three punts of 50-plus yards and three which have been downed inside the 20-yard line. u Sophomore long snapper Jake Filkins has seen action in 12 career games as a long snapper. He has converted 26-of-26 good long snaps so far this season (11 punts, 7 field goals, 8 PATs). u Junior quarterback Adam Lueck has served as the Gophers’ placekick holder for the last two seasons. www.GOPHERSPORTS.com MINNESOTA vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE 2011 GOPHER FOOTBALL TAKE IT TO THE BANK TCF BANK STADIUM FACTS When the Gophers hosted the Air Force Academy on Sept. 12, 2009 it marked the first time since Nov. 21, 1981 that college football has been played on campus at Minnesota. • TCF Bank Stadium was designed as an open-air, horseshoe-shaped bowl with a collegiate look and feel. The stadium is oriented to take advantage of the views of downtown Minneapolis. Minnesota’s 16-13 win over South Dakota State marked the final game of the inaugural season at TCF Bank Stadium. Minnesota put together a 4-3 record in its new home stadium in the inaugural season. • The University exceeded its initial fund-raising goal of $86 million. • The brick façade and arches resemble that of Minnesota’s previous on-campus football venue, Memorial Stadium, which hosted its final game on Nov. 21, 1981. • Construction began on TCF Bank Stadium on July 11, 2007. It took over 1.3 million work hours to complete the project by July , 2009. • The main high definition video measures approximately 48 feet high by 108 feet wide and boasts Daktronics HD-16 technology. TCF Bank Stadium was the first Big Ten Stadium built in nearly 50 years. Beaver Stadium (Penn State) and Memorial Stadium (Indiana) were both built in 1960. At the time of its construction, TCF Bank Stadium was just the second new stadium built in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) and the first in a BCS conference since 1998. Akron also christened a brand-new stadium last season. • The main high definition video board is the third largest in all of college athletics in terms of square footage. Only Texas and Mississippi State have larger boards. • The main video board screen is made up of more than four million LED lights that if placed end to end would extend for 47.5 miles. • At the project’s peak, 750 construction workers were working on TCF Bank Stadium. • The site of TCF Bank Stadium covers 1,194,645 SF or approximately 27.4 acres. In May 2006, the Minnesota legislature made the stadium a reality, approving the $288.5 million facility. The stadium holds 50,805 fans and is an open-air facility. Construction began during the summer of 2007. • The playing surface is FieldTurf and covers 92,132 SF or approximately 2.1 acres. TCF Bank Stadium Timeline • The home locker room at TCF Bank Stadium is 60 yards long by 25 yards wide. It contains 120 cherry wood lockers and is the largest in both professional and college football. May, 2006 - Legislature approves new stadium June, 2007 - Ground broken on TCF Bank Stadium January, 2008 - First steel rises from ground at stadium site April 7, 2008 - First brick laid at the stadium site Spring/Summer, 2009 - Scoreboards and lights in, exterior work finished Spring/Summer, 2009 - Scoreboards and lights in, exterior work finished May/June, 2009 - FieldTurf playing surface installed July, 2009 - University takes occupancy of TCF Bank Stadium Sept. 12, 2009 - First game at TCF Bank Stadium vs. Air Force. GOPHER VICTORY WALK The Golden Gopher football program saw a new tradition take shape in 2007, with the advent of the “Gopher Victory Walk.” Prior to each game, the entire Minnesota football team, led by the Minnesota Marching Band, will walk through the fans on Oak Street and head into TCF Bank Stadium. Each Gopher Victory Walk will begin two hours and 15 minutes prior to kickoff. The Minnesota Football program is encouraging fans to participate in the Gopher Victory Walk throughout the season, by lining the entire path from the bus to the stadium and cheering for the players as they arrive on game day. • The design of TCF Bank Stadium allows for expansion to 80,000. • There are approximately 25,000 seats with permanent chairbacks. All seats between the goal lines have permanent chairbacks. • TCF Bank Stadium includes 1,000 handicap accessible and companion seats. • There are 37 premium suites, 57 loge boxes, 259 seats in the indoor club and 1,250 seats in the outdoor club at TCF Bank Stadium. • There are 113 restrooms in TCF Bank Stadium, which include 625 toilets and 268 urinals. • TCF Bank Stadium has 10 network TV camera positions and seating for 165 members of the media. • Populous (formerly HOK Sport) served as the primary architect for the building, while Mortensen Construction was the general contractor. • In excess of 8,800 tons of structural steel was used in the project, with 97 percent recycled steel. • TCF Bank Stadium contains 24,000 yards of cast-in-place concrete, which is enough concrete to pour a four-inch thick, five-foot wide sidewalk from Minneapolis to Rochester, Minn. (74 miles). • The masonry includes 525,000 units of concrete block and 760,000 units of full and thin brick. • There is 72,753 SF or approximately 1.7 acres of glass in TCF Bank Stadium, enough to cover more than 1.25 football fields. • There are 9,185 Minnesota Block “M”s in TCF Bank Stadium. • The foundation of TCF Bank Stadium is supported by 2,133 drilled piles, which is equivalent to 15.5 miles of piles. www.GOPHERSPORTS.com PG. 9 2011 GOPHER FOOTBALL MINNESOTA vs. NORTH DAKOTA STATE ALPHABETICAL ROSTER # 12 98 31 64 59 82 47 1 22 47 73 46 7 42 68 77 65 6 17 63 27 55 4 44 80 89 32 52 70 48 3 49 33 76 69 83 43 5 1 91 99 90 2 40 36 7 42 14 30 57 89 97 62 15 5 84 96 20 45 14 85 94 74 Name Moses Alipate Michael Amaefula Cole Banham Caleb Bak Joey Balthazor A.J.
