Yat-Ching Tong, MD National Cheng Kung University College of Medicine and Hospital, Taiwan Yat-Ching Tong is Professor and Section Chairman of Neurourology, Department of Urology, National Cheng Kung University Medical College and Hospital, Tainan, Taiwan. Prof. Tong obtained his MD in 1982 from the National Taiwan University School of Medicine, Taiwan. He completed his residency in urology at the National Taiwan University Hospital in 1986, and was appointed as Teaching Assistant in urology at the Cheng Kung University Medical College in 1987. Prof Tong was subsequently promoted to Lecturer, Associate Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology (1996-2002). He obtained his full professorship in 1997. Throughout his career, Prof Tong has been very active in his research endeavors. In 1986, he undertook a Research Fellowship at the Cornell University Medical Center, US and returned again to the US between 1990 and 1991 where he was a recipient of Certificate of Distinction during his Research Fellowship at the Department of Urology, University of Pennsylvania. He was a four-time winner of the prestigious Prof. Y-F Hsieh Memorial Paper Contest in Taiwan and also received many awards, including research awards from National Science Council and teaching and service awards from the National Cheng Kung University. His research interests cover both clinical and basic aspects of neurourology and urodynamics including: diabetic cystopathy, detrusor overactivity, LUTS/BPH and nerve receptors in the lower urinary tract. Prof Tong has served as reviewer or editor for leading local, regional and international journals including The Journal of Urology, Urology, Neurourology & Urodynamics, Europeon Urology, Brain, the British Journal of Pharmacology, Life Sciences, Neuropeptides, Neuroscience Letters, Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, LUTS and Urological Science. To date, he has contributed more than 140 peer-reviewed articles in the field of urology.
