Building physicist, researcher and educator - architect
and planner by degree
Karas consultancy BEO worked for federal state government,
utility providers, charitable trusts and private investors in
Germany. She has published numerous articles and several
booklets on matters of energy efficiency, and taught at
universities in New Zealand and overseas.
Kara did her first blower door test almost exactly 20 years
ago, and published a booklet on blower door measurements
and best practice airtightness solutions some years later.
She was a co-founder of FLiB, the quality assurance body
for blower door testing, and co-founder and long time
member of the quality assurance board of a society for the
certification of energy efficient buildings (RAL - Gütegemeinschaft energieeffiziente Gebäude) in Germany.
She is currently teaching preparation courses for the Passive
House Designer exam at Unitec, while doing doctoral
research on indoor environmental quality of houses at
The University of Auckland.

Thomas van Raamsdonk (Pro Clima NZ Limited)

Thomas gained an engineering degree from the University
of Applied Science in Rosenheim, Germany, and then
completed an internship as an engineer in Japan.
After moving to New Zealand in 2003, Thomas was the
Director of several companies until the opportunity arose
to introduce pro clima to New Zealand.
He has been involved in providing solutions for the
most airtight buildings in New Zealand including the
recently completed first certified Passive House.
As distributor of the Minneapolis Blower Door in New
Zealand and Australia Thomas is your local contact for
technical enquiries.
