She has published numerous articles and several booklets on matters of energy efficiency, and taught at universities in New Zealand and overseas. Kara did her first blower door test almost exactly 20 years ago, and published a booklet on blower door measurements and best practice airtightness solutions some years later. She was a co-founder of FLiB, the quality assurance body for blower door testing, and co-founder and long time member of the quality assurance board of a society for the certification of energy efficient buildings (RAL - Gütegemeinschaft energieeffiziente Gebäude) in Germany. After moving to New Zealand in 2003, Thomas was the Director of several companies until the opportunity arose to introduce pro clima to New Zealand. He has been involved in providing solutions for the most airtight buildings in New Zealand including the recently completed first certified Passive House.
