TheBerkeleySTARTALKTeacherprogramhasentereditsninthyearsince2008.In 2009,federalSTARTALKsitevisitorsidentifieditasaprogramthatexemplifies thebestpracticesoftheSTARTALKTeacherProgram.The2014sitevisitreport noted:"Theonlinecomponentworksseamlesslywiththeonsiteprogram.Itcan serveasamodelSTARTALKonlineprogram".The2015sitevisitreportnoted: "Excellentsequencingofmicroteaching,leadingparticipantsfromlearningthe relevantconcepts,observingmasterteachers'videos,discussing,planningand teachinginactualclassrooms;frequentsmodelingbymasters". Inadditiontoprofessionaldevelopmentinteaching,theprogramhasoffered leadershipdevelopmentopportunitiesforprogramgraduates.Allofourmentor teachershavebeeninvitedtoserveasmembersofourinstructionalteamafter completingourprogramwithexceptionalperformance.Manyofthemwere inspiredbythisprogramanddecidedtopursuetheirteachingcredentialsafter completingtheBerkeleySTARTALKProgram. This is a no cost, non-residential program for the teacher participants. While no travel support is available, free meals (breakfast, lunch and two snacks) will be providedduringthe2-weekonsiteprogram. Meet the online Chinese linguistics instructor in person and ask questions facetofaceand/oronlineatascheduledtime, 4.Practiceteachinginyourgroupusingoneofthelessonsyoudevelopedin groupsandmakenecessarymodificationsbeforemicroteachingduringthe secondweekoftheonsiteprogram.
