AŽD Praha has been a leading Czech
supplier of transport control, signalling and
interlocking systems and technology for
more than 50 years.
AŽD Praha is an entirely Czech company,
specialising in the comprehensive supply
of control, signalling and interlocking
systems, and information and
telecommunication technology primarily
for railway and road transport. Recently
the company has broadened its scope of
activities to include fields such as building
development and security.
Due to comprehensiveness of its services
from the analyses of requirements and
development of equipment, through design,
production and installation right up to the
continuing long term service, AŽD Praha
offers an effective solution for the specific
needs of its customers.
In addition to its stable position on the
domestic market the AŽD Praha
is also successful abroad.
The participation in reconstruction of the
railway infrastructure in Slovakia ranks
among the most significant foreign activities.
AŽD Praha and its subsidiary companies
are also successful in India, Bulgaria, Serbia
and in Montenegro.
ORGANISATIONAL
STRUCTURE
AŽD Praha s. r. o. is currently the
largest Czech company producing signalling and interlocking
technology for transport.
Within the Czech Republic and
abroad it employs almost two thousand employees with annual sales
of more than CZK 3 billions.
In addition to the company’s Head
Office, Prague Production Plant,
Technika Plant and Division of Telecommunication and Signalling
Technology, the Company owns
the Prague Teleinformatics Division,
Brno Road Technology Automation division and Installation and
Production Plants in Brno, Olomouc
and Kolín.
AŽD Praha holds an interest in
several subsidiary companies
such as Signal Mont, AK signal Brno,
Inoma Comp., Radom and AŽD Harmonie, primarily providing development specialising in residential market segment.
Operating in Slovakia there are AŽD
W Poprad, AŽD Košice and PROJEKT
SIGNAL. AŽD Praha has also additional subsidiary companies in Serbia and Bulgaria.

AŽD Praha offers comprehensive solutions for customer’s needs from
analyses, design and product
development up to the production, installation and long term
service.
Among the Company highest priorities to which it pays special systematic attention is the development
of new systems. Specialised manufacturing plants are equipped with
a modern technology.

readily provide their services both in
the Czech Republic and abroad.
The Company offers exceptionally
long warranties for certain products.
CERTIFIED CONTROL
SYSTEM
An integral part of the company’s
management control is the Integrated Management System including
the Quality Management System
(according to ČSN EN ISO 9001), Environmental Management System
(according to ČSN EN ISO 14001)
and Occupational Health & Safety
Management System (according
to OHSAS 18001). In 2005 the implementation of all three management
systems was successfully concluded
and evidenced by these internationally recognised certificates.
PRODUCTION
FOCUS
Systems for the operation and
safety of railway transport
makes up the greatest volume of
the company’s output. They are
supplied in different configurations for corridor and non-corridor
lines including junctions and can
be equipped by additional systems
for diagnostics, graphic-technology
documentation and remote control.
AŽD Praha also manufactures and
supplies outdoor equipment e. g.
for control and safety of points, light
signals and other equipment. The
automatic train operation system is
used with success in train operation at the Underground (METRO) lines and enables a full automatic operation. These systems and
equipment are used also in plants
and mines.
AŽD Praha also supplies systems for
control and checking the road transport, for instance signalised intersections, traffic control in tunnels,
parking and entry, identification of
licence plates and checking on compliance with road traffic regulations.
Application of telecommunication
and transmission technology in
sphere of transport and beyond is
provided by a separate Division of
Teleinformatics.
The company’s other activities includes logistics and development
service, design, training and consulting.
PROJECTS IN
PROGRESS
AŽD Praha continues to participate
significantly in supplying technology to the modernisation of all
four Czech transit railway corridors as well as to other lines
within SŽDC (Railway Infrastructure Administration) network.
The modernisation of the signalling
and interlocking equipment of railway stations, line sections and level
crossings has a substantial influence
on the improvement of safety, capacity, speed, flow and effectiveness
of railway transport.
The most significant projects are the
railway junctions of Prague Central Station, Bohumín, Děčín, Ústí
nad Labem, České Budějovice
and many others.
Among other important modernised lines and line sections besides the already mentioned corridor constructions falls the New
Connection in Prague and KadaňKarlovy Vary and Plzeň-Žatec railway
lines where considerable saving and
overall rationalisation was achieved
thanks to remote traffic control
along the entire lines.
In 2002 after destructive floods,
AŽD Praha has significantly participated in all Prague’s Underground (Metro) route restoration
by speedy delivery of all the signalling equipment.
For Prague’s Underground (Metro) Route A the Company supplied
modern control and signalling
systems allowing unmanned traffic
control.
AŽD Praha also supplied the equipment used to control and secure
the large railyard in Sokolovská
uhelná company.
In the road technology the following projects should be highlighted:
The complete design of traffic
signalling at Bulhar intersection in Prague, technology supply
for check and traffic control in Valík
tunnel at Interstate expressway D5, RedCon camera system at
Kotlářská-Kounicova in Brno and automatic entry system EntryCon at
NATO air base in Čáslav.
The list of references should also
include the development of information equipment and camera systems in Praha-Libeň railway station
and warning lights for air traffic at
Praha Ruzyně International Airport.

The most important customers of
AŽD Praha concerning products
and services are owners and operators of railways. In the Czech
Republic it is mainly SŽDC, s. o.
(Railway Infrastructure Administration), Czech Railways a. s. and
also private operators of railways
and rail transport.
Next significant partner is for
instance Dopravní podnik
hl. m. Prahy, a. s. (City Transport
Company of capital Prague).
The foreign VIP customers are for
instance Slovak Railways and
other operators of railways and rail
transport in Serbia, Montenegro,
Bulgaria and India.
In area of road monitoring and control technology the most important AŽD Praha domestic customers are magistrates and municipal
offices.

