Having successfully completed this module, the learner will be able to: 1. Devise structured programmes using an industrial PLC and computer software. 2. Use an industrial PLC to control AC Induction Motor Drives. 3. Use an industrial PLC to control intensive data acquisition and analogue applications. 4. Configure an industrial PLC to operate in a distributed environment (Profibus). 5. Explain the interface of supervisory controllers with distributed intelligent devices. Entry Requirement It is expected that participants registering for this module will have already completed the PLC Systems module, and/or will have significant prior working knowledge of PLC Systems. Participants taking this module as part of the Bachelor of Engineering in Manufacturing Technology or the Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Technology must meet the entry requirements outlined on the relevant course pages. Examinations Each taught module has a programme of continuous assessment worth 50% and a final exam worth 50%. It is necessary to pass both elements to achieve an award in the module.
