Light in the Watchtower
The Master Key is dedicated to opening the door to sound Bible understanding. The true names of the Heavenly Father, Yahweh, and His
Son, Yahshua the Messiah, are restored in this publication. The “lying
pen of the scribes” (Jeremiah 8:8) and the “experts in the law” (Luke
11:52), as well as Bible translators, took away the key of knowledge by
substituting titles—God, Lord, Adonai—for the true names. They also
neglected other Bible truths proclaimed in these pages. The Sacred
Name is easily proved in most good encyclopedias and dictionaries under the heading “Yahweh,” “Jehovah,” “god” or “Tetragrammaton.”
You may also request our free booklets, “The Heavenly Father’s Great
Name,” and “The Missing J” for a wealth of well-known secular and
religious sources that prove the Sacred Name in detail.

The Sabbath is the oldest institution in the world. It
was given and first observed at creation. Yahweh made it
holy and He was the first to keep it—on the seventh day
(Gen. 2:2). The Sabbath is mentioned 59 times in the
New Covenant. In not one instance is it spoken of as
having been changed or abolished. Yet man has taken
the liberties to switch his worship to a first day of the
week observance. However, his brash license to alter his
worship day has not gone uncontested. Compiled here
are selected quotations from prominent religious leaders
and religious publications of various denominations.
What they have to say about the Sabbath and the origin
of Sunday observance is enlightening.
Catholic: “No Such Law in the Bible”
“From this same Catholic Church, you have accepted
your Sunday, and that Sunday, as the Lord’s day …
handed down as a tradition; and the entire Protestant
world has accepted it as a tradition, for you have not an
iota of Scripture to establish it. Therefore that which you
have accepted as your rule of faith, inadequate as it of
course is, as well as your Sunday, you have accepted on
the authority of the Roman Catholic Church.” D.B. Ray,
The Papal Controversy, p. 179.
“I have repeatedly offered $1,000 to anyone who can
prove to me from the Bible alone that I am bound to
keep Sunday holy. There is no such law in the Bible. It is
a law of the holy Catholic Church alone. The Bible says,
“Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.” The Catholic Church says: “No. By my divine power, I abolish the
Sabbath day and command you to keep holy the first day
of the week.” And lo! The entire civilized world bows
down in reverent obedience to the command of the holy
Catholic Church.” T. Enright, CSSR, in a lecture in
1884.
“Nowhere in the Bible do we find that [Yahshua] or
the apostles ordered that the Sabbath be changed from
Saturday to Sunday. We have the commandment of
[Yahweh] given to Moses to keep holy the Sabbath day,
that is the seventh day of the week, Saturday. Today
most Christians keep Sunday because it has been revealed to us by the church (Roman) outside the Bible.”
Catholic Virginian, Oct. 3. 1947.
November-December 2015
Lutheran: “They Err in Teaching Sunday”
“But they err in teaching that Sunday has taken the
place of the O1d Testament Sabbath and, therefore, must
be kept as the seventh day had to be kept by the children
of Israel. In other words, they insist that Sunday is the
divinely-appointed New Testament Sabbath, and so they
endeavor to enforce the Sabbatical observance of Sunday
by the so-called blue laws … These churches err in their
teaching, for Scripture has in no way ordained the first
day of the week in place of the Sabbath. There is simply
no law in the New Testament to that effect.” John Theodore Mueller, Sabbath or Sunday, pp. 15-16.
Christian: “The Bible Sabbath Came Before the First
Day of the Week”
“The first day of the week is commonly called the Sabbath. This is a mistake. The Sabbath of the Bible was the
day just preceding the first day of the week. The first day
of the week is never called the Sabbath anywhere in the
entire Scriptures. It is also an error to talk about the
change of the Sabbath. There never was any change of
the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. There is not in
any place in the Bible any intimation of such a change.”
First Day Observance, pp. 17, 19.
Methodist: “People Worshiped the Sun--Which Is
Where the Word Sunday Came From”
“In the days of very long ago, the people of the world
began to give names to everything, and they turned the
sounds of the lips into words, so that the lips could speak
a thought. In those days, the people worshiped the sun
because many words were made to tell of many thoughts
about many things. The people became Christians and
were ruled by an emperor whose name was Constantine.
This emperor made Sun-day the Christian Sabbath, because of the blessing of light and heat, which came from
the sun. So our Sunday is a sun-day, isn’t it?” Sunday
School Advocate, Dec. 31, 1921.
“The moral law contained in the Ten Commandments,
and enforced by the prophets, He [Yahshua] did not take
away. It was not the design of His coming to revoke any
part of this. This is a law which never can be broken …
Every part of this law must remain in force upon all

mankind and in all ages; as not depending either on
time or place, or any other circumstances liable to
change, but on the nature of [Yahweh] and the nature of
man, and their unchangeable relation to each other.”
John Wesley, Sermons on Several Occasions, Vol. 1.,
No. 25.
Moody Bible Institute: “One Down, Nine More
Commandments to Go”
“The Sabbath was binding in Eden, and it has been in
force ever since. This Fourth Commandment begins
with the word ‘remember,’ showing that the Sabbath
already existed when [Yahweh] wrote the law on the
tables of stone at Sinai. How can men claim that this
one commandment has been done away with when they
admit that the other nine are still binding?” D.L.
Moody, Weighed and Wanting, p. 47.
More Prominent Admissions
“They (the Catholics) refer to the Sabbath day as having been changed into the Lord’s Day, contrary to the
Decalogue (Ten Commandments) … Sunday is not
celebrated in Christendom by [Yahweh's] command.
Great, say they, is the power of the Church, since it has
dispensed with one of the Ten Commandments!” Augsburg Confession, Art. 28, p. 24.
“In the New Law, the observance of the Lord’s Day
took the place of the observance of the Sabbath, not by
virtue of the (Fourth Commandment) but by institution
of the church.” Summa Theologica, Art. 4, II, p. 1702.
“The emperor, Constantine, a convert to Christianity,
introduced the first civil legislation concerning Sunday
in 321, when he decreed that all work should cease on
Sunday, except that farmers could work if necessary.
This law, aimed at providing time for worship, was followed later in the same century and in subsequent centuries by further restrictions on Sunday activities.” Encyclopaedia Britannica, 15th Ed, Sunday, p. 672.
“It is barely imaginable that first-day Sabbath observance commenced before the Jerusalem council (C.E.
49). Nor can we stop there. We must go on to maintain
that first-day Sabbath observance cannot easily be understood as a phenomenon of the apostolic age and of
apostolic authority at all.” M.M.B. Turner, From Sabbath to Lord’s Day—A Biblical, Historical and Theological Investigation, p. 198.
“It being expedient to overthrow superstition, the
Jewish holiday was abolished and, as a thing necessary
to retain decency, order, and peace in the Church … the
early Christians substituted what we call the Lord’s Day
for the Sabbath.” John Calvin, Institutes of the Christian Religion, p. 343.
Search the Scriptures for Yourself
Those who have come to a knowledge of the true Sabbath have had to grapple with many questions and overNovember-December 2015
come many objections to keeping the seventh day of the
week, as was commanded. For a world that largely
keeps Sunday, as they have been taught, it is difficult
for them to understand the actual commandment to
keep the seventh-day Sabbath. Governments accept
Sunday as a day of cessation from banking and commerce. Blue laws support Sunday keeping. Proclamations are even issued for holidays that were first
adopted by religion such as Christmas and Easter.
Only because of a sincere longing to fully obey Yahweh’s commandments do most people overcome the
objections and accept the true Bible Sabbath as the
sanctified (set-apart) day to keep. Many people believe
Sunday is the proper day of worship. They are ignorant
of what the Holy Bible teaches regarding the Sabbath,
and even of what some religious leaders who observe
Sunday say about it.
Scripture has much to say about ministers who teach
any violations of Yahweh’s holy Commandments. Her
priests have violated My law, and have profaned My
holy things: they have put no difference between the
holy and profane, neither have they shown difference between the unclean and the clean. They have
hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, and I am profaned among them (Ezekiel 22:26).
The Apostle John concluded, Whosoever commits
sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). And again, He that says,
“I know Him,” and keeps not His commandments, is
a liar, and the truth is not in him (1 John 2:4).
No one can force an understanding on another. Neither do we intend to force anything on you. Our aim is
simply to give the facts, supported by scriptural references, as well as other documentation that the Sabbath
is the seventh-day observance, holy to Yahweh, and
that He will accept no other. We now challenge you and
your minister to search the Bible and find Yahweh’s
truth. By humble fasting and prayer, the True Worshiper of Yahweh will, through Yahweh's Holy Spirit,
be guided into all truth.
Can You Find:

The Sabbath--Still Binding Today!
Many believe that the Fourth Commandment has been
“done away,” but that the other nine commandments are
still binding today. Some ministers tell you that you
should not kill, steal, or commit adultery, but if you keep
that O1d Testament, Jewish Sabbath, (commandment),
you are denying Yahweh's grace and are trying to earn
your salvation. Not according to the Almighty!
If you will read the Book of Hebrews, you will be
amazed at how it applies to us today. In chapter three, the
writer quotes Yahweh and draws an interesting analogy
between the Israelite nation and True Worshipers today.
Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the
day of temptation in the wilderness: when your fathers tempted Me, proved Me, and saw My works
forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, “They do always err in their heart;
and they have not known My ways.” So I said in My
wrath, “They shall not enter into My rest” (vs. 8-11).
We are further warned, Take heed, brethren, lest there
be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing
from the living Elohim (vs 12).
In Hebrews 4, we are told that, although we are living
in hope for eternal life, we can fall short, just as the Israelites did. In this chapter, we are given the things we are
to do in order to enter into the “rest” Yahweh has prepared for us. Let us therefore fear lest a promise being
left us, of entering into His rest, you seem to come
short of it. For unto us was the good news preached,
as well as unto them; but the word preached did not
profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that
heard it. For we who believed do enter into rest …
For He spoke in a certain place of the seventh day on
this wise, and Yahweh did rest the seventh day from
all His works (vs. 1-4). Verse four is a direct quotation
from Genesis 2:2 and reminds us that the Sabbath was
made by Yahweh for ALL His people. If you have been
told that the Sabbath commandment was not in the New
Testament, you will be surprised by Hebrews 4:9-10.
November-December 2015
These verses make it clear that, if you want to inherit
eternal life and enter into Yahweh’s rest, you must cease
from your work just as Yahweh did from His. There remains therefore a rest [Greek--sabbath-- ismos,
“observance of the Sabbaths”] to the people of Yahweh.
For he that is entered into His rest, he also has ceased
from his own works, as Yahweh did from His.
Do you grasp Yahweh’s meaning in these verses? If we
observe any day of rest other than prescribed in Yahweh’s Word, we do not rest as Yahweh did! Does this
mean then that we are trying to “earn our salvation” if we
keep the Sabbath Commandment? In no way! Salvation
is the gift of Yahweh, Ephesians 2:8, and there is nothing that we can do to earn it. However, we can abuse and
lose this free gift if we are not obedient to Yahweh.
Grace does not do away with the soundness of obedience to the laws. In fact, as the Apostle Paul explained,
obedience is part of Yahweh’s plan of salvation. For we
are His workmanship, created in Messiah Yahshua
unto good works, which Yahweh has before ordained
that we should walk in them (Ephesians 2:10). These
good works which have been before ordained refer to
nothing other than Yahweh’s holy Commandments.
All through the centuries, there have been many True
Worshipers who have remained true to the commandments. The Ten Commandments have always held to be
the great law of Yahweh, and they are still the basis of all
True Worship. The Messiah kept Yahweh’s commandments and He calls on His followers to keep those same
commandments.
Yahweh has identified His true followers in the Book
of Revelation. Here is the patience of the saints: here
are they that keep the commandments of Yahweh,
and the faith of Yahshua (Revelation 14:12). Again in
Revelation 12:17 we are told that Satan, who is angry at
Yahweh’s true followers, goes out to make war with
the remnant of her seed which keep the commandments of Yahweh, and have the testimony of Yahshua
Messiah.
The Sabbath is a memorial, a perpetual covenant between True Worshipers and their Creator (Exodus
31:16). By observing any other day, we put ourselves
outside the promise of Yahweh’s rest. The Sabbath shall
be restored everywhere in the coming Kingdom of Yahweh, as noted in Isaiah 66:23, “And it shall come to
pass, that from one new moon to another, and from
one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before Me,” says Yahweh. The Sabbath has always been, is today, and forever shall be set apart, and
sanctioned by Yahweh as His day of rest and communion
between Himself and mankind.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: reverence Yahweh, and keep His commandments: for
this is the whole (duty) of man (Ecclesiastes 12:13).
The Master Key
Page 3
You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form
of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath
or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to
them or worship them; for I, Yahweh your Elohim,
am a jealous Mighty One, punishing the children for
the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My
commandments (Deuteronomy 5:8-10, NIV).
What happens to people who commit this sin? Is there a
curse for worshiping idols? Does Yahweh mark these
people? The answer is, yes, He does. He marks their seed.
Paul talks about this mark in Romans 1:23-32. Look
what Paul says about people who exchange the glory of
Yahweh for an idol: ...and exchanged the glory of the
immortal Yahweh for images made to look like mortal
man and birds and animals and reptiles … therefore
Yahweh gave them over in the sinful desires of their
hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their
bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of
Yahweh for a lie (the idol), and worshiped and served the
created thing rather than the Creator. Because of this,
Yahweh gave their seed over to shameful lust, one for
another, men for men, women for women.
Now, Yahweh gave us an example of what will happen
to these people if they don’t change. They will be like
Sodom and Gomorrah; gone forever in the lake of fire.
You see, some of us were like this at one time or another. But the words of Yahweh have justified us because
we believe in them. And because of this justification and
faith in His words, you must never be afraid to look at an
idol. You will know in your heart that it is nothing. Destroy it, as Moses did, from your heart, and your very
presence. Circumcise your heart.
November-December 2015
Paul talks about meat offered to an idol; that the man of
faith can eat this meat, knowing that this idol is nothing
but wood or stone. But not all men understand this. A
brother of little faith or of little knowledge of the Word
may eat and receive a curse for what he has done. Why?
Because he may not realize that an idol is nothing, and in
his heart, he may blaspheme Yahweh. So why take part
and cause him to sin? Read 1 Corinthians 8:9-13. This
was one of the sins that caused Yahweh to remove Israel
from the promised land. Many today think you can worship the idol of the “Lord God” and get into the Kingdom. Is that two-word title what Yahweh wishes to be
called? This idolatry worship will be around right up until
the end of this age.
Remember the words of Yahshua in Matthew 24:15,
So when you see standing in the holy place the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of through the
prophet Daniel… Let’s read Daniel 11:31, His armed
forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and
will abolish the daily sacrifice. They will set up the
abomination that causes desolation... and put a curse on
themselves.
Read Deuteronomy 7:26. The law states, Do not bring
a detestable thing into your house or you, like it, will
be set apart for destruction. When the idol is set up in
the temple, then destruction will come on the earth. 1 Corinthians 3:16 says, Don’t you know that you yourselves are Yahweh’s temple and that Yahweh’s Spirit
lives in you? If this is so, do you think the Spirit of Yahweh will dwell where an idol is? If your mind is on the
idol of the nation, and it dwells in you, the Spirit of Yahweh will not dwell in you. Your temple will be unclean,
just as the idol will desecrate the temple in the end time.
Daniel 12:11 says, From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Blessed is the
one who waits for and reaches the end of 1,334 days.
This implies that there are only 45 days until the Kingdom from the 1,290 days. This idol is of the beast that
comes up out of the abyss.
Look in Revelation 13:14-15, Because of the signs he
was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he
deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered
them to set up an image in honor of the first beast who
was wounded by the sword and yet lived. He was
given power to give breath to the image of the first
beast, so that he could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.
Revelation 17:8 says that this beast which you saw will
come up out of the abyss, and will go to his destruction.
The Master Key
Page 4
Who is he? If he is to come up out of the abyss, then he is
one of Satan’s angels who was cast out of heaven and is
locked up in the abyss. The term “abyss” as used in the
New International Version, and “bottomless pit” used in
the King James Version, are both from the Greek
“abusso,” #12 in Strong’s. They both represent the same
place. It is also rendered “deep” in the KJV. The following verses contain this word, #12, in the New Testament—Luke 8:3; Romans 10:7; Revelation 9:1, 2 and
11, 11:7, 17:8 and Revelation 20:1, 3.
Jude 6 tells us of those now in the abyss, And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority, but
abandoned their own home—these He has kept in
darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment
on the great day.
2 Peter 2:4 says that Yahweh did not spare these angels
when they sinned, but sent them to hell (abyss) until the
day of judgment, because they had left the worship of the
Creator Yahweh, to worship His creation (Satan, Lucifer,
the Devil, and his angels). It is one of these angels that
once was and now is locked up in the abyss (pit). Revelation 9 says the leader of them is known as Apollyon in
the Greek, and Abaddon in Hebrew. He will be destroyed
by the sword and brought back to life.
Read Revelation 13:1-4. One of the heads of the beast
had a wound, but the fatal wound had been healed.
Daniel 7:4 says, The first was like a lion, and it had the
wings of an eagle. I watched until its wings were torn
off and it was lifted from the ground so that it stood
on two feet like a man, and the heart of a man was
given to it. They (men) worshiped the beast because he
was healed of his wound.
Read Revelation 13:12-14. An idol of this beast was
made and a miracle was performed. Life was given to this
image. All men who did not bow down and worship the
beast which came up out of the abyss, and who did not
receive his mark (the number of his name) were killed.
This idol of destruction will be destroyed by Yahshua.
To worship this idol, or any idol, is destruction to one’s
own life. Those whose names are not written in the
Lamb’s Book of Life will receive wrath from Yahweh
because they worship the idol “God.” Baal God worship
in Jeremiah’s time was one of the sins of Israel. They
worshipped the Queen of Heaven and her son.
Kristos Zeus and her son were condemned by the
prophets of Israel. Israel left the worship of Zeus in Egypt
and met Yahweh at the Red Sea (Exodus 19). Yahweh
proclaimed to them that He alone was the Creator of life
and that they were to follow His ways. But they knew
Yahweh only a short time until they made a molten image
November-December 2015
and turned away from the Creator to a created image.
That image is worshipped today by the title, God.
Any encyclopedia will show the etymology of the word
“God” which is “molten image.” If you call the mighty
one of this nation, God, you are calling on the molten
image that is condemned by Yahweh. Man, many times
in His Word Yahweh says, You shall call Me by My
name. “God” is a common English word, a title—NOT A
NAME!
In conclusion, the pagan idol known as “God” from the
beginning, was never glorified by Yahweh, nor has Yahweh ever said He would give His glory to it. Neither has
He said that the word “god” would be His own Name or
title. He has said just the opposite! You who forget My
holy Name and spread a table for Gawd (God) and
forget My holy mountain, I will destroy (Isaiah 65:11).
The deceiver took Yahweh’s Holy Name and replaced
it with the name of an idol, but Yahweh’s people will
know Yahweh’s Name and never give glory to an idol
(Isaiah 52:6).
The breaking of the Third Commandment is sin. If you
have broken this commandment, you need to be cleansed
by the blood of the Lamb, the Son of Yahweh, for He is
the righteousness from Yahweh, apart from the law, that
will cleanse your temple so that the Spirit of Yahweh will
live in you. Keep Yahweh’s Third Commandment so that
His wrath will not come upon you and your family. May
Yahweh open your minds on this subject.

ALTAR OF INCENSE
Part 2
By Elder Michael Chumney
We have looked at the “altar of incense” as being multiple things, which it is. In this article, we’re going to be
looking at the incense of intercession.
Isaiah 59:16, He saw that there was no man, and
wondered that there was no intercessor; therefore His
own arm brought salvation for Him; and His own
righteousness sustained Him [Yahweh]. The Strong’s
word for “intercessor” here is #H6293 meaning “to impinge by violence, or figuratively, to come between or
betwixt.” The definition of the word “impinge” means to
“come into violent contact with.” So, Isaiah 59:16 graphically describes Israel’s hopeless state of separation from
Yahweh because of their sin and their crooked paths. Yahweh wondered or marveled as to why no man had come to
deliver Israel from their hopeless state. Verse 16 says
Yahweh’s own arm brought salvation. That word for salvation is #H3467, the Hebrew word, “yasha” and it is the
root for the Strong’s word #H3444, where we get the
name, “Yahshua.” Literally, Yahweh sent Yahshua, His
own arm, as a man—His own Son—to stand between
Yahweh and us (Israel), and violently come to the rescue
to save them, and to save us. Yahshua came to save us
from the penalty of the righteous requirement of the setapart law—the Torah. He didn’t come to save us from the
Law! People believe they’re “saved from keeping the
law,” and that is not true. People are saved from the penalty for which they were guilty—for which you and I are
guilty, for which Israel was guilty.
Now, this is “remez,” which is alluding to, or hinting to
something. This “violent picture” is first seen, or alluded
to, in the Torah, in Genesis 3:15. This is where the first
“good news” of Scripture is manifest. It starts here and it
continues all through the Bible, when it comes to fullness
in Revelation 20. It says in Genesis 3:15, He shall bruise
your head [speaking of the serpent’s head or ha Satan’s
head] and you [the serpent] shall bruise His heel. That’s
where this violent “coming to the aid” of man, in man’s
hopeless state, first appears. It’s first alluded to that there
will be two seeds—a seed of righteousness and a seed of
unrighteousness. There's the seed of the serpent and
there’s the seed of the woman. We know the seed of the
woman is Yahshua the Messiah who was born of a
woman, according to the law.
Revelation 20:9-10, They went up on the breadth of
the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and
November-December 2015
the beloved city. And fire came down from Yahweh out
of heaven and devoured them. The devil, who deceived
them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone
where the beast and the false prophet are. That is where
it ends. Remember the word “intercessor” is Strong’s
#H6293, “to impinge by violence.” Yahweh, through
Yahshua, violently, or with great power and determination, came between [through Yahshua] Satan and Israel,
and defended us. Yahweh did it, and He will do it again!
Yahweh is our Savior! He used His holy arm, Yahshua,
His Son, as the implement of that salvation; to save us.
And, it was violent! When He hung on that tree, brothers
and sisters, it was VIOLENT! We have prophetic pictures
of this all through Scripture—types, shadows, glimpses—
“remez”—hinting to—Yahshua, in prophetic pictures, before He was born of Miriam.
Let’s look briefly at some of the Hebraic pictures of prophetic intercession. Let’s look at the degree of commitment that was necessary in each of these examples.
1 Corinthians 10:11 tells us that we are to use the
things that happened to the patriarchs as examples. It tells
us, from verse 1 through verse 11 that the “ends of the
ages have come.” Brothers and sisters, we are at the end of
the ages where we stand today. We’re going to look at five
examples. The reason for five is because, Hebraically, five
is “help.” We do need Yahweh’s help!
The first example: After Adam and Eve sinned in Genesis 3, they were clothed by Yahweh. They were given the
promise of a Savior in Genesis 3:15, and for them, that
began the first picture of hope. Yahweh gave them hope,
grace, or help. Genesis 3:15 is the first picture of them
becoming intercessors. Now, we have to think about this a
little bit because it doesn’t say this “verse for verse,” with
a promises like Genesis 3:15. They were spared by Yahweh, and therefore, they would have prayed and interceded with tears for every child that was born; that he
might be the savior! Would they not have done that?
In Luke 3:23-38, it gives the genealogy. It tells of
Yahshua, that He was the Son, or Seed of Adam through
Miriam. Yahshua was the One, the final Intercessor. Hebrews 7:25, Therefore He [Yahshua] is also able to save
to the uttermost those who come to Yahweh through
Him, since He always lives to make intercession for
them. HalleluYAH! “Intercession” is, in the Greek,
#G1793, meaning “to confer with, have a meeting with, sit
The Master Key
Page 6
down and talk with”—speaking of Yahshua with Yahweh concerning us! He is our “intercessor.”
Another example of someone interceding on our behalf
is Exodus 32:11-14, Then Moses pleaded with Yahweh his Elohim and said, “Yahweh, why does Your
wrath burn hot against Your people whom You have
brought out of the land of Egypt with great power
and with a mighty hand? … Turn from Your fierce
wrath, and relent from this harm to Your people. Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, Your servants,
to whom You swore by Your own self, and said to
them, ‘I will multiply your descendants as the stars of
heaven; and all this land that I have spoken of I give
to your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.’” So Yahweh relented from the harm which He
said He would do to His people.
Moses interceded as a type of Yahshua for Israel! We
can see that plainly. In verse 31 and 32, Then Moses
returned to Yahweh and said, “Oh, these people have
committed a great sin, and have made for themselves
a mighty one of gold! Yet now, if You will forgive
their sin—but if not, I pray, blot me out of Your book
which You have written.” Moses was willing to offer
his life in exchange for the life of the Israelites. This is a
prophetic picture!
While you are thinking about that, turn to the Book of
Job as the third example. Job 1:4-5, And his sons
would go and feast in their houses, each on his appointed day, and would send and invite their three
sisters to eat and drink with them. So it was, when
the days of feasting had run their course, that Job
would send and sanctify them, and he would rise
early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, “It
may be that my sons have sinned and cursed Elohim
in their hearts.” Thus Job did regularly. This is a
beautiful picture of him interceding for his children. Parents, listen to me. Take heart, intercede for your children—even your grown children! Never stop the intercession.
We should study deeply into the character of this man,
Job—his commitment, even under extreme trials. We
need that character, commitment and, if ever under trials,
we need complete trust in Yahweh’s salvation—in Yahweh’s Yahshua! That’s what it says—literally. Job was
saying, “Even if I die, I will trust Him. If Yahweh takes
my life, even then, I will trust Him.” This, brothers and
sisters, is pure incense from the golden altar of incense—
this is as pure as it gets! HalleluYAH!
Hopefully, by now, we can recognize the testing that
this altar offers us—that it is an acceptable sacrifice or
“offering.” We don’t normally look at it that way, but if
we wait patiently, in contriteness of spirit throughout the
testing, and trials we go through, then that is acceptable
to Yahweh (1 Peter 2:20).
November-December 2015
Brothers and sisters, is our incense this pure (incense
being our prayers, praise, worship, supplication, communication, and now, even our intercession)? Is it pure?
The fourth example can be found in Nehemiah 1:1-7,
These are the words of Nehemiah, the son of
Hachaliah. It came to pass in the month of Chislev, in
the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the citadel,
that Hanani one of my brethren came with men from
Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews who
had escaped, who had survived the captivity, and
concerning Jerusalem. And they said to me, “The
survivors who are left from the captivity in the province are there in great distress and reproach. The
wall of Jerusalem is also broken down, and its gates
are burned with fire.” So it was, when I heard these
words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned for
many days. I was fasting and praying before the Elohim of heaven. And I said: “I pray, Yahweh Elohim
of heaven, O great and awesome Elohim, You who
keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love
You and observe Your commandments, please let
Your ear be attentive and Your eyes open, that You
may hear the prayer of Your servant which I pray
before You now, day and night, for the children of
Israel Your servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel which we [do you see that? He includes
himself!] have sinned against You. Both my father’s
house and I have sinned. We have acted very corruptly against You, and have not kept the commandments, the statutes, nor the ordinances which You
commanded Your servant Moses.”
Nehemiah fasted, and offered prayer and intercession—this is pure to Yahweh. Again, another type of
Yahshua interceding for Israel. At that time, the northern
tribes had already gone into captivity. This was the part
of Israel which is basically Judah—the Jews. I would
like to call your attention again to verse 4. He “wept,
and mourned,” not for minutes, but for days. Fasting,
again, for days and praying before the El of heaven.
Turn to the prophetic Book of Esther. I challenge you
all to study this book using the Scripture verses in this
article. This book is “remez” from start to finish—
hinting to or alluding to a story. Yahweh wanted to show
off His wife, His obedient wife who is beautiful, but she
would not obey Yahweh’s Torah! That is what this
whole book is about. Esther 1:10-12, On the seventh
day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine,
he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha,
Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, seven eunuchs who
served in the presence of King Ahasuerus, to bring
Queen Vashti before the king, wearing her royal
crown, in order to show her beauty to the people and
the officials, for she was beautiful to behold. But
Queen Vashti refused to come at the king's command
[could say the king’s instruction or king’s torah]
The Master Key
Page 7
brought by his eunuchs; therefore the king was furious, and his anger burned within him. Then Vashti
becomes lost in the book. It doesn’t mention her anymore. Why does she become lost? Because she is in captivity. The House of Israel was in captivity and all attention now in the book was given to a young Jewish girl
named Hadassah in Hebrew, Esther in Persian. Yahweh’s eye was on this young Jewish girl, who now becomes, by Yahweh’s help and grace and for His purpose,
His instrument of deliverance for the House of Judah,
through whom Messiah would eventually come. Do we
grasp the enormity of this story? It is a prophetic story.
It’s not just a children’s bible story. She becomes the
wife that he can show to the world. She becomes the
obedient wife that he can trust with his knowledge, with
his things. The House of Judah was given the responsibility to guard the Torah; to protect the Torah for the
whole world and, brothers and sisters, we today can read
the book. We can read the Torah and be thankful to the
House of Judah who did preserve the Torah for us all!
So let’s continue: Esther 2:8-9, So it was, when the
king’s command and decree were heard, and when
many young women were gathered at Shushan the
citadel, under the custody of Hegai, that Esther also
was taken to the king’s palace, into the care of Hegai
the custodian of the women. Now the young woman
pleased him, and she obtained his favor; so he readily
gave beauty preparations to her [important to see these
beauty preparations were given to her. Her
“allowances” were the same that were given to the other
maidens, but she got a little something extra], besides
her allowance. Then seven choice maidservants were
provided for her from the king’s palace, and he
moved her and her maidservants to the best place in
the house of the women.
Look at Esther 2:12-13, Each young woman’s turn
came to go in to King Ahasuerus after she had completed twelve months’ preparation, according to the
regulations for the women, for thus were the days of
their preparation apportioned: six months with oil of
myrrh, and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women. Thus prepared, each
young woman went to the king, and she was given
whatever she desired to take with her from the
women’s quarters to the king’s palace.
Now look at verses 15-16, When the turn came for
Esther the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai,
who had taken her as his daughter, to go in to the
king, she requested nothing but what Hegai the
king’s eunuch, the custodian of the women, advised...
Now we have Hegai being “adviser” or “counselor”!
Remember, Yahshua said, “I will send the counselor, the
comforter.” Esther listened to Hegai’s advice, (or the
spirit’s advice). The application is for us today. This
book is alive with spiritual lessons.
November-December 2015
Brothers and sisters, we have come to the kingdom, in
the words of Esther, for such a time as this. Esther 4:14
says that in the NKJV. Esther was in a foreign land.
We’re in a foreign land, surrounding by people who do
not like us—they tolerate us! Esther was called by the
king. We have been called by the King. Esther was
taught and counseled, or advised, by Hegai, the eunuch.
We are taught, advised, and counseled by our Counselor—Yahweh’s Holy Spirit. Esther only listened to
Hegai, and she obeyed. We are to only listen and obey
Yahshua’s voice.
Esther 4:16, “...And so I will go to the king, which is
against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther determined in her heart, at the risk of death, to make intercession to the king for her people. In chapter 5, she was
received by the king, and the people were saved.
Esther prophetically teaches us the way of the proper
approach to the inner chamber. Remember where we are,
the picture of the Tabernacle—and the altar of incense—
just this side of the veil. We must be guided by the ruach
spirit, to be completely committed to Him—even at the
risk of death. This is the proper approach—the proper
incense.
Mark 8:35, For whoever desires to save his life will
lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the
good news will save it. If we qualify to be accepted, to
be the bride of Messiah, we should see ourselves in this
Book of Esther.
In Esther, we can see the image of Yahshua, having
been received into the inner chamber. Like Yahshua, she
offered the pure, unselfish, incense of intercession for
her people, just like Yahshua offers intercession for us
today.
Hebrews 7:24-25, But He [Yahshua], because He
continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood.
Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost
those who come to Yahweh through Him, since He
always lives to make intercession for them.
One last scripture, 1 Timothy 2:1-5, Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men …
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of Yahweh our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and
to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is
one Elohim and one Mediator between Yahweh and
men, the Man, Messiah Yahshua. He is the “gobetween” making intercession for us.
May we all long for this pure offering of incense to be
active in our lives. May we all be found by our Father
offering this special, pure incense of prayer, praise, worship, supplication and intercession that He be glorified.
May Yahweh bless all of you as you consider these
articles on Yahweh’s altar of incense!
HalleluYah!

By Elder Ed Burgett
I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about our growth over
the last year. I’ve thought upon what we said in reference
to the Names of Father Yahweh and our Messiah,
Yahshua—that we would bring no pollution into the assembly using the names and titles that are found in man’s
religions (whether they be in conjunction with or substituting, replacing). We took a hard stand—determined
people—that this is not where we were going, as a people. We took a stand for the Torah and said this is what
we will teach, continually; that we would address the
eternal things, Father Yahweh, Yahshua, and Torah.
These are serious responsibilities—these choices we’ve
made. Once again, I looked upon who we are, what we
are and what our purpose is. We are part of the House of
Israel, according to Ephesians 2:22. We’re to be a nation
of priests, that we would serve Yahweh, worshipping
Him, and Him alone.
We have the responsibility of being a watchman to the
world by preaching the message of reconciliation, including the teaching about the coming Kingdom, and the
tribulation that is coming upon this earth. In Isaiah 66
and in Zephaniah 3:8, we read that Yahweh is going to
bring a sword, and He’s going to bring fire upon this
earth because of continual lawlessness. In Jeremiah
51:7, Babylon was given a golden cup, and the nations
are drinking the very dregs of that cup. In Matthew
10:34, Yahshua the Messiah said, Do not think that I
come to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring
peace but a sword. In Luke 12:49, He said, I came to
send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already
kindled! That was 2,000 years ago and He was looking at
the state of the world at that time, and He was ready to set
it on fire, then!
He has called us to be watchmen for the world. Ezekiel
33:1-7, Again the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
“Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and
say to them: ‘When I bring the sword upon a land [He
didn’t say “the land,” He said “a land”—any land], and
the people of the land take a man from their borders
and make him their watchman, when he sees the
sword coming upon the land, if he blows the rams’

horn and warns the people, then whoever hears the
sound of the rams’ horn and does not take warning, if
the sword comes and takes him away, his blood shall
be on his own head. He heard the sound of the rams’
horn, but did not take warning; his blood shall be
upon himself. But he who takes warning will save his
life. But if the watchman sees the sword coming and
does not blow the rams’ horn, and the people are not
warned, and the sword comes and takes any being
from among them, he is taken away in his crookedness; but his blood I will require at the watchman’s
hand.’ So you, son of man: I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear a
word from My mouth and warn them for Me.”
This is very serious business. Numbers 20:1-11, Then
came the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, into the desert of Zin … And the people contended with Moses, and spake, saying, “Would Elohim
that we had died when our brethren died before Yahweh and why have you brought up the congregation of
Yahweh into this wilderness...” And Moses and Aaron
went from the presence of the assembly unto the door
of the Tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell
upon their faces: and the splendor of Yahweh appeared unto them. And Yahweh spoke unto Moses,
saying, “Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly
together, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak
unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth
his water, and you shall bring forth to them water out
of the rock: so you shall give the congregation and
their beasts drink.” And Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as He commanded him. And Moses and
Aaron gathered the congregation together before the
rock, and he said unto them, “Hear now, ye rebels
[Strong’s #H4784, “bitter”]; must we fetch you water
out of this rock?” And Moses lifted up his hand, and
with his rod he smote the rock twice…
Twice he smote that rock instead of speaking to it;
Moses, the lawgiver, a Levite; was an intermediary between Israel and Yahweh—out of frustration with this
rebellious people.

Let’s look at another instance of rebellious people and

how Messiah Yahshua handled it. Luke 22:63-64, And
them, “Occupy till I come.” But his citizens hated
him, and sent a message after him, saying, “We will

We have made commitments as a people. We must be
ready to stand fast in what we profess and teach. He EXPECTS us to be busy. How can we administer to the nations in this coming Kingdom if we are not doing the
work right here in this present life? Yahshua will ask,
“How can you come with Me and to rule over these cities with a rod of iron, when you cannot even rule over
yourself to do what I have required you to do?”
Yahshua said “if you love mother and father and
brother and sister more than you love Me, I can’t use
you.” That is what this is saying—forget your own people in your father’s house. That doesn’t mean we stop
loving our people, it’s just that we love Yahshua more.
For many of us experienced families that left us; have
nothing to do with us because we have taken up this relationship with Yahshua the Messiah. He’s calling you, the
children of Jacob, to come and rule with Him in that

chosen.
We are the light in that watchtower. We are the people
who, not only speak to the Rock, but work alongside
Yahshua. Our responsibility is to bring that salvation
message to the world—the light in the lighthouse. We’re
crying out to the world, telling them a great and terrible
time is coming on this earth.
We made these commitments and this is what He says

Be Like a Plant
By Benjamin Burgett
I once had a little
bonsai tree—a miniature tree. The apartment we lived in did
not get any direct
sunlight. The only light we had was indirect, so the light
had to pass over the balcony and then into our apartment.
So, no matter where I put this little tree, it could not get
any direct sunlight, and it died. I was pretty depressed
about that, and thought to myself, “Should we really live
in a place that is void of any direct light on us, no matter
where we try to get it?” It made me think about how society builds buildings—to save costs—without many windows in them. We build very closed structures that block
out the light and then we have to illuminate them artificially. If I was a designer or architect, I would design
something more open.
Keep the idea of the plant in your mind as you wonder
where I’m going. I want to liken that plant to us and how
we need the Light. Obviously, you probably realize the
Light I’m speaking of is Yahshua. He is the Light that we
need to live in.
So back to the analogy. When we build a building, we
may block out the light and, basically, it is because of
what WE want. We want to save money, we want to save
time—so it is really for what WE want. Think about this
in your life. We are supposed to be the temple of Yahweh’s Spirit. Do we block out that Light [Yahshua] because of what WE want? Or, are we going to let that
Light in first? That is what I want you to think about. If
we’re supposed to be His temple, we should let the Light
in. Put aside what WE want, and then He will bring the
Light in. Just as a plant needs light to live, so do we—
physical, and spiritual light. Here are some Scriptures
bringing that Light into focus.
Isaiah 42:5-6, Thus says Yahweh, Who created the
heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the
earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath
to the people on it, and spirit to those who walk on it:
“I, Yahweh, have called You in righteousness, and will
hold your hand; I will keep you and give you as a
covenant to the people, a light to the Gentiles.”
John 8:12, Then Yahshua spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me
shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
Psalms 119:105, Your Word is a lamp to my feet and
a light to my path. Think about that! Your Word is a
lamp to my feet and a light to my path. So, He is saying
that His Word is what guides us.
November-December 2015
Going back to the bonsai tree—it grew into a really
ugly shape, and I watched as this little plant turned all its
leaves one direction, because I sat the plant toward the
windowsill. It turned all of its leaves and branches toward
the light. I mean, this is a PLANT! You have probably
seen a sunflower come up and the big face of it will turn
as it follows the sun! This is what this little plant did over
a period of time. The plant made itself uglier (in our
mind) because it just looked gnarled and one sided. It
wasn’t uniform at all, but it really did all that, by nature,
JUST to get to the light source. How does this apply to
us?
Galatians 1:10, For do I now persuade men, or Elohim? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased
men, I would not be a bondservant of Messiah.
Here, he is asking, “Are we seeking human approval or
Yahweh’s approval?” Look at us as if we’re looking at
that plant. Do we need to worry about how we look to
them—out there? Do we need to worry about how our
faith might set us apart, or do we need to focus directly on
it to draw closer to Yahweh? That is what that little plant
does. It doesn’t care about anything else, except getting to
the light because it “knows” it needs the light to live.
Do we change ourselves so much, striving for the Light,
that we are no longer desirable to the world?
John 15:19, If you were of the world, the world
would love its own. Yet because you are not of the
world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the
world hates you.
As you know, Yahshua said, “They hated Me, and if
you are a follower of Me, they will also hate you.” Yahweh doesn’t want anyone with a lukewarm attitude. He
would rather you be cold against Him.
Luke 9:26, For whoever is ashamed of Me and My
words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when
He comes in His own glory, and in His Father’s, and of
the holy angels.
If you go out in the world and you are trying to hide
Him, how are you going to react when Yahshua comes
before His Father and says that He is ashamed of you and
how you have acted? You do not want that at all.
Matthew 10:33, But whoever denies Me before men,
him I will also deny before My Father in heaven.
Think about when you go out and want to talk to people
in the world. You may be having a debate about who you
believe in and they will say “Jes-s” and you think to yourself, “Well, I’ll just use Jes-s and G-d,” so they know who
I am talking about. I cannot stand that because that is basically saying you are going over to their side just so you
The Master Key
Page 12
can have common ground, but that is not common
ground at all! If you don’t want to drive them off or
whatever you feel, there is nothing wrong with saying
“the Savior” or “the Messiah” instead of “Yahshua”—
that IS common ground. Instead of “G-d,” you can say
“the Creator” or “the Almighty.” This is common
ground. But if we don’t want to use the sacred names,
it’s almost as if we’re denying them. We don't want to
say it because we’re worried how people will take it! If I
don’t want to say “Yahshua” because I don’t want them
to get offended, isn’t that being ashamed of Him? Is that
caring more about what they are going to think than caring more about Who created you?
Another thing I noticed about this plant: It doesn’t
have a battle or struggle between what it needs and anything else. It needs the light to live, thrive and maintain
its beauty. It “knows” this. It doesn’t seek the beauty
first. It doesn’t first bloom out, make itself uniform and
then strive for the light and hope it doesn’t die. No, it
goes for what it needs first—the light. And THEN, once
it reaches the light, if it can, then the light beautifies it,
not the other way around. It doesn’t become beautiful
first. When I looked at that little plant and saw something so simple, I thought, “It is completely contrary to
what we want to do. We want to seek what WE want
first, and THEN come to Yahweh.” That is not how it
should be, and that’s the struggle.
When Matthew talked about seeking first the Kingdom
of Yahweh and THEN all would be added unto you in
Matthew 6:33, that is what He was talking about. There
is a reason. If a plant, so simple, one of Yahweh’s creations—that doesn’t really have sentient life (is living but
it doesn’t think) can do that, then obviously we should,
too.
Luke 9:24-25, For whoever desires to save his life
will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will
save it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the
whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
What is He saying? You are trying to gain your life in
the world and, in the end, you are going to lose eternal
life. But, if you give up your life here—all these little
things that we want, which really don’t matter, then we
will may gain eternal life! Look at King Solomon’s writings about “vanity of vanities” and you can really see it
and apply it in your own life. You give up your worldly
desires so that you can have eternal life later. You make
the decision, “I’m going to live for Yahshua.” That is
what He is talking about. Give up the little things that do
not matter and live for Him. He WILL GIVE you eternal
life later—if you put Him first—now! That takes faith.
I’ve been in a situation where I tried to get something
myself, and it just wasn’t working, so I said, “Okay,
Yahweh, I’m done. I’ll let You decide. I’m just going to
try to focus on YOU, and then if I get what I want, great.
If I don’t, it wasn’t meant to be.” It wasn’t but a few
November-December 2015
months later, He gave it to me! But it took faith. If we
can do it that way, it will be a faith builder.
Here’s another thing I’ve heard when trying to talk
about the things of Yahweh: “Well, He knows my
heart.” You hear that so much out in the world. But we
have to realize that our lives are truly in Yahweh’s
hands. It is because of Him that everything continues to
exist. Without Him, we would die. We can feed our
plants water and fake light, but without the sun to give
power to the earth, they will probably die. Everything
exists because He allows it.
Luke 12:27-28, Consider the lilies, how they grow:
they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even
Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of
these. If then Yahweh so clothes the grass, which today is in the field and tomorrow is thrown into the
oven, how much more will He clothe you, O you of
little faith?
He takes care of these flowers. He takes care of the
grass, so have faith that He will take care of you if you
choose Him first, over the little things that you want.
Here’s the thing: We want to say, when times get
tough or we don’t know what to do, “Yahweh, our life is
in your hands.” You get in a bind and THEN you want to
give it all up to Yahweh. So, you want to live your own
life, you want to try and go after your wants, your own
desires and THEN when things get hard, you want to
give your life to Him! This is exactly what people do!
I’ve done it, but it shouldn’t be that way.
Let’s look at Psalm 31, which puts it all into perspective, perfectly. I really love King David’s writings. So
much of what he says really speaks to me and the way he
comes before Yahweh. I’ve thought: “This was a king,
one of the most powerful people in the world at that
time, and how humble he was when he came before his
Creator. Psalm 31:10-23, For my life is spent with
grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails
because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away. I
am a reproach among all my enemies, but especially
The Master Key
Page 13
among my neighbors, and am repulsive to my acquaintances; those who see me outside flee from me. I
am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind; I am like a
broken vessel. For I hear the slander of many; fear is
on every side; while they take counsel together against
me, they scheme to take away my life. But as for me, I
trust in You, O Yahweh; I say, “You are my Elohim.
My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand
of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.
Make Your face shine upon Your servant; save me for
Your mercies’ sake. Do not let me be ashamed, O
Yahweh, for I have called upon You; let the wicked be
ashamed; let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying
lips be put to silence, which speak insolent things
proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Oh, how great is Your goodness, which You have laid
up for those who fear You, which You have prepared
for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons
of men! You shall hide them in the secret place of
Your presence from the plots of man; You shall keep
them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be Yahweh, for He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city! For I said in my haste,
“I am cut off from before Your eyes,” nevertheless,
You heard the voice of my supplications when I cried
out to You. Oh, love Yahweh, all you His saints! For
Yahweh preserves the faithful, but fully repays the
proud person.
King David is going through a very tough time. Let’s
pick out a few points. Verse 10 says, For my life is spent
with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength
fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste
away. This is because of this iniquity. Verse 14, I trust
in You, O Yahweh; I say, “You are my Elohim.” He’s
showing who he trusts and he says, “YOU are my King.”
He’s is coming to Yahweh. Let’s look a little further in
verse 15, My times are in Your hand. He is saying,
“My life is in Your hands.
Verse 17, Do not let me be ashamed, O Yahweh, for
I have called upon You.. He has called on Yahweh.
Verse 19, Oh, how great is Your goodness, which
You have laid up for those who fear You... There’s the
point of this! How do you fear Yahweh? You love Him.
How do you love Him? You keep His commandments
and call Him by His name!
Then King David says, “How abundant is Your goodness...” and “Be good to me because I fear You.” Verse
23, Love Yahweh, all you His saints. There it is again.
Yahweh preserves the faithful. How are you faithful?
When you stick to Him, you keep at it—not just here a
little, there a little—but being faithful to Him. If we want
to trust our lives in His hands for Him to deliver us, we
had better be walking in His ways.
November-December 2015
Psalm 51:11-12, Do not cast me away from Your
presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold
me by Your generous Spirit.
Matthew 16:25-26, For whoever desires to save his
life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake
will find it. For what profit is it to a man if he gains
the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will
a man give in exchange for his soul?
When you get baptized, you give yourself to Yahshua,
not once a week on Sabbath, not just when you need His
help, but constantly, He is yours—you are in covenant
with Him.
In summation, the plant first seeks the light of life, and
then it does whatever is in the nature of that specific plant
to do. So, seek the Light—FIRST—and live!

Colossians
2:14
I
By Elder Ted Cecil
will be addressing some points in our booklet titled,
Colossians 2:14, particularly pages 13-14. As the
Scriptures teach, we should be keeping Yahweh’s
laws on clean food (Lev 11; Deut 14), now, as well as
during the millennial reign (Ex 15:26 and Ez. 43:23),
along with the Holy Days, and Sabbaths, found in Lev.
23. Also, there are other things mentioned in Scripture
that will be enforced during the 1,000-year reign. The
new moon will be sighted and observed at the appropriate time of the month, and the subsequent blowing of the
trumpet when it is sighted. The trumpet will also be
blown on the full moon. This is indicated in Ps. 81:3,
which is associated with the set-apart day of the Feast of
Trumpets, which is found in Num. 29:6.
Returning to the clean food laws, Matt. 5:18 says, Not
one jot, nor one tittle shall by any means pass away
from the law till all is fulfilled—or completed. The sacrifice of bulls and goats, and the shedding of their blood
by the Levitical priests for the sins of the children of
Israel, were carried out once a year. But the sacrifices of
bulls and goats were useless for intentional sins. It
turned out to be senseless bloodletting, and the people
did not change their ways. Their hearts were not pricked,
nor were they humbled before Yahweh. Yahweh required another sacrifice for unintentional and intentional
sins. Yahshua agreed to be that sacrifice, to please His
Father. He would be born of the Spirit by a flesh and
blood woman, to complete Yahweh’s purpose for Israel.
Yahshua will be Yahweh’s salvation for us.
To continue learning about eating clean foods in the
Kingdom, look at Acts 10. There seems to be some misunderstanding about Peter’s vision. Let’s read: Peter
was praying about the sixth hour, and became hungry, but while they made ready, he fell into a trance,
and heaven opened, and a great sheet bound at four
corners, descended to him and was let down to earth.
And a voice came to him and said, “Rise, kill and
eat.” Peter replied, “Not so, Master, for I have never
eaten anything common or unclean.”
November-December 2015
Now, if the law declaring what is clean and unclean
was done away when Yahshua was nailed to the tree,
why was Peter so shocked at the command of the voice
in verse 14? The answer is because the law of clean food
was still in force at that time. This was after the Messiah
was nailed to the tree! That’s why He replied the way He
did. After it was given by Moses at the foot of Mt. Sinai,
it never stopped being in force. What was nailed to the
tree was the “curse of death” for breaking the law. Rom.
8:3 speaks of being free from the indwelling of sin, with
the curse being nailed to the tree at Yahshua’s death.
Yahshua is the Redeemer for those who believe, and
call upon His Name. He also is the future husband of
those who, not only believe Yahshua, and accept His
blood sacrifice, but those who are seeking to be first
fruits. They are those who are striving to overcome now,
to become His bride by obedience to Yahweh’s commandments, statutes, and ordinances. We are striving to
show our love for Yahweh, our Father, while we are
alive today, which includes keeping the clean food laws.
Yahshua is now our Mediator. He goes before Yahweh
to plead on our case. That doesn’t mean we go on sinning because of His sacrifice. We are to turn from our
old ways—a 180-degree “about face”. You cannot continue practicing sin, if you repent in your heart. You cannot keep sinning, and go your own way. Heb. 6:4 says
that, if you have tasted the heavenly gift, and are a partaker of the Holy Spirit, having tasted the Word of Yahweh, and then fall away, it is impossible to bring you
back. Yahweh will eventually give you over to a reprobate mind, and there may be no salvation for you. Think
about that!
To continue, Mk. 7:19 reads, Because it enters not
into his heart, but into his belly, and goes out and is
eliminated. Go back to verse 2. The Pharisees and some
scribes were complaining that the disciples were eating
with unwashed hands. But when the Pharisees and
scribes went to the market place, the meat they bought
would have been clean because of Lev. 11. The Phari-
The Master Key
Page 15
sees, nor would the scribes, be eating unclean. Remember, they were strident about the written law. So there
must have been some other reason for their comment,
which can be found in Mk. 7:21-23—the evil thoughts
that come from the heart of man.
Rom. 14 is misunderstood also. The topic is eating
vegetables, with a subtopic about judging others for being vegetarians. Many people, either through lack of understanding, or looking for a loop hole, try to convince
us that we can eat all things. Look at verse 2. The manner in which it is worded could be interpreted as, everything is good to eat. Verse 3 tells you what it is speaking
of, i.e., those who eat only vegetables.
Maturity in understanding is what we should desire
and work toward. Look at verse 4, Who are you to
judge another’s servant? This is speaking of a servant
of Yahweh, who will be obeying the Father’s commands
by eating only clean food, which He previously sanctified as being fit for human consumption! Lev. 11 tells us
what is sanctified by Yahweh or what meats we can eat,
and what meat is unclean.
Another misunderstood reference is Lk. 10:6-12. For
clarification, read Matt. 10 where Yahshua told the disciples to go to the lost sheep of the House of Israel.
Yahshua did not change from Matthew to Mark to Luke
to John. In Lk. 10, Yahshua sent 70 others. Now
Yahshua was going there Himself.
Question: If Yahshua was going to the same place as
the 70 men who He appointed to preach the Word, do
you think He would have told them something different
to teach, than what He had taught the disciples? The answer is, “No.” He would not have taught them anything
differently. He told the disciples in Mat 10:6-8, But go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as
ye go, preach, saying, “The Kingdom of heaven is at
hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead,
cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.”
. In Lk. 10:7, He said, Do not go house to house. In
other words, be discriminating to whom you speak about
spiritual things.
Matt. 10 says if you find someone you feel is worthy,
or of the lost sheep of the House of Israel, and you say,
Peace to this house, and if a “son of peace” is there,
your peace will rest there. That means if they will accept
the Messiah’s words, then they are obviously willing to
hear the truth. We should then begin to teach them about
Yahshua, and His Father’s ways.
Remember that Yahshua had only come for the lost
sheep of the House of Israel. So when He taught the disNovember-December 2015
ciples His Father’s laws, that teaching also applied to the
70 others spoken of in Lk.10.
Question: Do you think that Yahshua ever ate unclean
at any time? He taught the disciples Yahweh’s laws and
told them how it was to be kept, including Lev. 11 and
Deut. 14.
Answer: Yahshua always ate clean food. He could not
have been our Redeemer and Savior, complete and spotless, sin free, if He had any uncleanness in Him, from
food or any other thing. Concerning the consumption of
the meat of animals, fish, birds, and flying insects, if the
word sanctified or consecrate is not mentioned when
speaking of food, then we must assume it is not food for
human consumption.
There is one more thing concerning the importance of
eating clean food. Go to Isa. 65:1-4 and read it carefully.
I am sought of them that asked not for Me; I am
found of them that sought Me not: I said, “Behold
Me, behold Me,” unto a nation that was not called by
My name. I have spread out My hands all the day
unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that
was not good, after their own thoughts; a people that
provoketh Me to anger continually to My face; that
sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick; which remain among the graves, and
lodge in the monuments, which eat swine's flesh, and
broth of abominable things is in their vessels. You can
see how Yahweh feels about those who eat swine’s
flesh—those eat and drink abominable things that Yahweh had not sanctified.
1 Cor. 10:25-26 is also a controversial reference. At
the beginning of this chapter in verse 1, it says, I do not
want you to be unaware, that all our fathers were
under the cloud, all were baptized into Moses, in the
cloud, and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food,
and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they
drank of that same spiritual rock. That spiritual rock
was Yahshua. The children of Israel were given the laws
of Yahweh by Moses, at Mt. Sinai. Those laws that were
taught to Israel at the foot of Mt. Sinai were the laws the
disciples were, in turn, to go out and teach (Matt. 10:520; Mk. 6:7-13; Lk. 9:2-6 and 12:2-10).
In Matt. 15:11, this verse is answered later by verse
20 of the same chapter. Now go to Mk. 6. The same
question is posed in verses 18-19 and the answer is
found in Matt. 15:20. As you will find in 2 Tim 3:16,
All Scripture is given by inspiration and is profitable
for doctrine, for reproof, and for instruction in right-
The Master Key
Page 16
eousness. In other words, you have to read and study in
order to put the puzzle together. Yahshua’s teaching
did not change from one book to another, and neither
did Paul’s writings. It’s about the context and the way
it is written. To gain a proper understanding, we must
also harmonize all Scriptures.
The disciples were to teach all of Yahweh’s laws,
and that included Lev. 11 and Deut. 14—what is clean
and unclean. In both Lev. 23, concerning the set-apart
days, and 1 Cor. 10:25, we find, Whatsoever is sold
in the market place or (shambles) that eat, asking
no questions for conscience sake. It seems to say,
once again, that we can eat whatever we desire. But
this passage refers, not only to the dietary food laws of
Lev. 11 and Deut. 14, but to food sacrificed to idols,
and then later sold in the meat market.
Another controversy occurs in 1 Tim. 4:3. The context is important to recognize, as is the context of any
Scripture. Verse 3 is talking about people departing
the faith, listening to deceiving spirits, and doctrines
of demons. Read on. It speaks of people forbidding to
marry, and abstaining from foods that Yahweh created
to be received with thanksgiving. But take particular
notice of 1 Tim. 4:5. They are foods which Yahweh
sanctified, or set apart, to be clean to eat (Lev. 11).
Yahweh sanctified the food we could eat! People have
been led astray by deceiving spirits, and/or corrupt
ministers. Just remember, Yahweh does not change
(Mal. 3:6).
If we accept Yahshua as our Savior, repent and are
immersed, we become new creatures in Messiah. Then,
we are to do 180-degree turn, and go a different way—
a way that leads to righteousness—so as to overcome
our sinful natures. This process can take time, with
many setbacks. As we mature in the Word, by prayer,
fasting and study, we should be sinning less and less—
maturing in Yahshua. That means we must not continue to practice sin, expecting Yahshua to abide with
us. We have to produce the fruit of the Spirit found in
Gal. 5:22-23. It is difficult, but the process is made
possible by calling on the Name of Yahshua, in prayer,
humbling ourselves and being obedient to the Father’s
ways. This does not mean you will be found perfect,
but that you might be found blameless. Being found
blameless is good, as we can see in the Book of Job.
Job was blameless in Yahweh’s eyes. It does not mean
he was without sin. In Ps. 51:4, David hopes to be
found blameless. 1 Thes. 3:13, …to the end that He
may establish your hearts blameless in holiness.
Eating clean foods is a part of this process. Look at
November-December 2015
Rev. 21:22. Yahweh and the Lamb will be the temple,
but for Them to abide with us, we have to be pure, set
apart, spotless, clean, and blameless.
The first fruit resurrection will occur at Yahshua’s
return, ushering in the 1,000-year reign. The judgment
of the first fruits is happening now in “real time”. We
should not be eating anything unclean, nor should we
do anything contrary to Yahweh’s commands in our
journey to completeness. We must learn maturity of the
Spirit, be broken, contrite, and serve Yahweh in the
beauty of holiness! It should be our top priority—to be
found worthy, as Yahweh requires—not perfect, but
blameless.
Overcoming our flesh is a must. Committing to serve
our Father, and copying Yahshua’s example, will
please Yahweh. He will exalt us at the proper time, but
we must keep Yahweh’s commandments, statutes and
ordinances.
When the Messiah returns, the first fruits will be instructed on their duties, and what is expected of those
who are chosen to assist the Messiah on His return,
when He will set up His throne, and the nations shall
be gathered before Him, to be judged. The time line on
Yahshua’s return, and the setting up of the 1,000-year
reign, is somewhat alluded to in Lk 22:28-29, Dan.
7:9, Matt. 19:27-29, and other places. It tells us who
He is, and gives us a general idea of what His saints
can expect.
Finally, Gal 3:1, O foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you, that you should not obey the truth,
before whose eyes Yahshua the Messiah has been
evidently set forth, impaled among you? Yahshua
was sinless, yet He was nailed to the tree for our sins—
past, present, and future. The curse of death, for breaking the law, was nailed to the tree with Him. Yahshua
is our sacrifice. His shed blood is our covering, and our
hope. The shedding of His blood made Him our Kinsman Redeemer, worthy to be raised up to ascend to
heaven, and have His blood sprinkled on the altar to
complete His duty. It tells us in Scripture, Judgment
starts at the House of Israel. We must be about our
Father’s business!
Mal. 3:1 says, Behold, I will send My messenger,
and the Sovereign whom you seek will suddenly
come to His temple... Whose temple are you? Will
you be ready?
