ChangeGaard Changeover Module
The Smedegaard process of continuous product development
has resulted in the high quality and compact ChangeGaard
pump auto changeover module. Its ease of fixing, small size
(180x110x90mm), simplicity of wiring and program flexibility
makes it the ideal solution in smaller applications that do not
warrant the use of a full BMS system.
The ChangeGaard is designed to be used in conjunction with
the fault and remote start/stop volt free contacts which are fitted
as a standard component to Smedegaard's complete range of
SimFlex 'A' Glandless and Omega EcoFlex Glanded variable
speed pumps.
It can also be used, with single phase pumps of up to 370 Watts,
to supply the power to the pump motors. An added benefit is it's
ability to be installed into a panel to control the contactors and
starters associated with larger fixed speed pumps.
Description
The designed use of the ChangeGaard is to act as a pump auto
changeover panel on twin pump, duty/standby, systems. By
utilisation of the pump volt free fault and remote start/stop
contacts the ChangeGaard is able to switch over the pumps on a
fault and also on a settable hours run signal.
Remote Indication
The standard ChangeGaard is fitted with two NO-NC (normally
open - normally closed) relays one being configured in fail safe
mode to switch in the event of a power failure to the controller.
Either of these relays can be configured to switch on any
combination of Pump A Run, Pump B Run, Pump A Fault, Pump
B Fault, System Fault, Service Due Reminder or signal via the
external fault volt free contacts.
Local Indication
The status is shown on the integral illuminated display but, for
added safety, there is an alarm beeper (can be muted) and a visual
alarm. Both of these are, as the relays, assignable to react to
various status indications.
Inputs
There are two sets of volt free contacts terminals for remote
inputs. One is for use as a remote start/stop and is well suited for
being connected to a time clock or other similar mechanism. The
other is suitable for use as an emergency stop for example, or for
connection to a pressure switch to register a catastrophic drop in
system pressure. This contact can be configured to activate an
assignable relay.
