Emergency Education Center University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics PARAMEDIC TRAINING PROGRAM SUMMARY OF WRITTEN EXAMS/COURSES NO CELL PHONES, ELECTRONIC DEVICES ETC ARE ALLOWED NEAR YOU DURING TESTING. THEY MUST BE SILENCED AND PLACED IN THE DESIGNATED SPACE. THEY CAN BE PICKED UP AFTER YOUR EXAM IS COMPLETED. Group 60 Guidelines for all exams 1. Each exam is cumulative unless otherwise announced. 2. All exams will be announced in advance. 3. Minimum passing score is 80% for each exam. 4. If an 80% is not achieved on a quiz, no retakes will be given. 5. An 80% must be achieved on each midcourse, each course final and the math competency exam. Students scoring less than 80% will be allowed to retake a midcourse exam, a course final and the math competency exam. Only one retake is allowed. If an 80% is not achieved on the retake of a midcourse exam, course final and the math competency exam, the student will be dismissed from the program. A retake must be completed within one week of the initial exam date. AHA standards/rules will be used to determine pass/failure of ACLS & PALS PEPP standards/rules will be used to determine pass/failure of PEPP OVERALL MIDTERM EXAM The Overall Midterm Exam is given at the end of phase I (19-20 weeks). Successful completion (minimum score of 80% on each section) of the Overall Midterm exam is required in order to participate in phase II (field training). The midterm exam is divided into five written sections: a. pharmacy math d. skills-this is a WRITTEN exam b. drug therapy e. general knowledge c. ECG interpretation One retake is allowed for each section within one week of the initial exam date. If an 80% is not achieved on the retake of each section, the student will be dropped from the course. If a student fails four or more sections of the overall Midterm on the first attempt, the student's phase II is halted until successful completion of all sections has been completed. ORAL EXAM A comprehensive oral exam may be given by the Emergency Education Center Medical Director at the end of phase 1. If given,successful completion of the oral exam is required to participate in phase ll (field training). A retake must be completed within one week of the initial exam date. Failure to pass the oral exam will result in the student being dropped from the training program. The Center Medical Director reserves the right to give a second oral exam at the time of the COURSE Final Exam. COURSE FINAL EXAM The cumulative final exam is conducted at the end of Phase II. Minimum passing score is 80%. Students must pass the final exam in order to be eligible for the National Registry on-line exam. One retake of the course final is allowed. If an 80% is not achieved on the retake the student will be dropped from the course. LICENSURE EXAM To be licensed as a Paramedic in the state of Wisconsin, the National Registry exam for paramedics must be successfully completed. The EEC will schedule the practical exam. You will be responsible for scheduling the computer exam.
