MIDCO® SELF-INSTALL Self-Install Guide Standard Digital Adapter Included in This Kit You are about to show the world what a technical wizard you are by installing your new standard digital adapter. Truth is, it’s easy – but no one needs to know that! 1 Before you begin, write down the serial number (activation number) located on the back of the digital adapter. The serial number is needed to activate your adapter on your account. Serial Number or SN: 2 Connect and Power Up 1. Connect a coax cable from your cable wall outlet to the Cable In (RF In) connection on your digital adapter. Make sure the connection is finger tight. 2. Connect the coax cable from the To TV (RF Out) connection on your digital adapter to the Cable In (RF In) connection on your TV. 3. Plug the Signal Receiver for the remote control into the IR In port, and mount the receiver to the TV (optional). 4. Plug the power cord into your digital adapter, and then into an electrical outlet. Find your account number on your monthly billing statement or at Midco.com/MyAccount. Midco Account Number: Once all the connections are secure and proper input settings have been selected, confirm your digital adapter has been installed. Use the Remote Quick Guide to program your Midco remote, and then activate your digital adapter using one of the following methods: • • • 5 Go to Midco.com/TechTips. Log in to Midco.com/MyAccount. Call 1.800.888.1300. Your digital adapter may take up to 15 minutes to begin downloading the proper channel lineup. Visit Midco.com/ChannelLineups to view the channels available in your area. Confirm that the light on the front of the digital adapter is no longer blinking and is lit solid. Using your Midco remote, scroll through channels and confirm you can access the channels in your cable TV package. If the digital adapter will not power on or your cable TV package’s channels are not showing, please call 1.800.888.1300 for assistance. Additional charges may apply if a Midco technician completes your installation at home. 6 Program the Digital Adapter Remote 1. Locate and write down the three-digit manufacturer’s code for your TV. (See Remote Control User’s Guide included with the remote.) Code: 2. Install remote batteries. Turn on the TV. 3. Press OK, then MUTE, and hold both buttons until the indicator light at the top of the remote illuminates. 4. Enter the three-digit code(s) one at a time using the keypad on the remote. As soon as you have entered the three-digit code that turns off your TV, press MUTE. 5. Lock in the code using one of the following methods: • If the TV turns back on, press OK to lock in the code. The indicator light will blink and then go out. • If the TV does not turn back on, enter a different three-digit setup code until your TV turns back on. Then press OK to lock in the code. MIDCO SELF-INSTALL Standard Digital Adapter FAQ How will I know if the digital adapter is activated? • Solid Power Light: The digital adapter is activated. • Long Continuous Blink: The digital adapter is in hunt mode and is not ready to be activated. If you tried to activate during hunt mode, the digital adapter will not be activated. Wait for two short blinks and try again. • Three Short Blinks: The digital adapter is updating. Wait for two short blinks and try again. • Two Short Blinks: The digital adapter is ready to be activated. Why isn’t my TV displaying the correct programming? • Confirm your TV is on the correct input setting. • The digital adapter, TV and/or VCR need to be set to the same channel (3 or 4). • Check the cables between the digital adapter, TV and/or VCR. If they are loose, tighten the connections. • Unplug the power from the rear of the digital adapter for 15 seconds. Plug it back in and wait until the power light is solid. Why can’t I get the digital adapter to turn on? • Make sure the digital adapter is plugged into a power outlet without an on/off wall switch. • Verify that the power cord to the digital adapter is securely connected and plugged into the electrical outlet. • Try a different electrical outlet to confirm the outlet is working. Why is there no sound when viewing cable channels? • Verify that the MUTE button on the remote has not been pressed. Press MUTE on the remote to restore sound. • If the digital adapter audio output is connected to the TV, verify that the MUTE button on the TV has not been pressed.
