MISSION STATEMENT: NMCB FORTY will execute expeditionary construction and contingency engineering as directed by higher in order to enable surge expansion at new and existing forward operating bases, establish force protection, construct critical C2/mission enabling facilities, execute Life-Health-Safety (LHS) repairs, and facilitate force bed-down for USFOR-A and ISAF.
Naval Mobile Construction Battalion FORTY is tasked with providing general engineering support in constructing a 9,000m
2
US Army MedEvac heliport surface at FOB Monitor Sheberghan, Afghanistan.
Completion of this IJC directed task will enable 4 th
CAB to bed down MedEvac capabilities ensuring rapid response time to ISAF Forces IVO of Meymaneh, Afghanistan. NMCB FORTY (based out of Deh Dadi II) has a
27 person detail assigned to complete this 31 day construction project while simultaneously providing security on site.
The scope of work primarily focuses on horizontal construction operations to include: clearing/grubbing, grading, and placing/compacting gravel. Additionally, NMCB FORTY must relocate the ECP to the eastern side of the FOB. This is a joint construction effort with local contractors tasked with building an eleven foot
Hesco wall. NMCB FORTY has installed triple-strand concertina wire in all open areas along the FOB perimeter. With the addition of this C-wire and Hesco barrier the entire FOB is enclosed leaving only one point of entry/exit increasing the Force Protection capabilities of FOB Monitor.
This is a joint effort between NMCB FORTY and Swedish Coalition Forces that is proving to be quite successful. The Seabees of NMCB FORTY would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude and express our greatest appreciation to the Soldiers of the Swedish Army in the entire RC-North region. 2.INFCOY’s lifesafety measures will certainly enable NMCB FORTY’s mission success.
