Objectives Mapping
Ensure objectives drive course design by creating course objectives. Then, develop module objectives for meeting the course objectives. Course
objectives should be broad enough to encompass the entire course, while module objectives are more specific to a particular topic. Both should
be indicative of what students will do to demonstrate mastery. Think action verbs that promote critical thinking and application of concepts.
Avoid understand and learn, as these are not easily measureable. Think in terms of what students will perform on your assessments (e.g., if the
objectives states student will create, then, the assessment should allow student to create). Additionally, they should be at a level from Bloom’s
taxonomy that is appropriate for the level of the course. Upper level courses should be primarily from upper levels of Bloom’s. All levels should
promote some critical thinking.
