PW05 Power Quality: Harmonic Mitigation & Power Factor Correction 1 hour

With the majority of modern age equipment now utilising integral power supply technology which continuously chops the AC waveform, harmonics are becoming a wide spread issue. Symptoms of false tripping of circuit breakers, electrical distribution assets and cables running at high temperatures and becoming overloaded, dangerously high Neutral currents, and premature equipment failure could all be the result of harmonics distortion. This session will discuss several harmonic mitigation technologies and how these solutions can be applied to industry to achieve results which are compliant with Australian Standards and Utility requirements.

Plant operators are required to make decisions everyday in production facilities which can directly influence profitability, either by the normal running of the plant or by reacting swiftly to the unusual, protecting material, product, equipment and personnel. These decisions need to be based on clear information from your visualisation systems.
