DensiTune Portable The fluid mud density probe Stema Systems is proud to announce the new DensiTune Portable. A light weight system, complete in case appr 15 kg, that can easily travel hand carried and is optimized to operate from any vessel of opportunity. This will enable the assessment of the nautical depth or pinpoint problems with fluid mud presence on short notice on any location. SOME HISTORY The DensiTune, developed in the mid-nineties, was the first practical and worldwide deployable in-situ density meter. In the 2005 followed up by the RheoTune probe. This probe had increased functionality and facilitated the calibration method. The RheoTune inherited the housing of the DensiTune. This body was primarily design for winch operation. Manual operation is possible but not very practical. PORTABILITY AND FAST MOBILIZATION The integration of the Tune vertical profiles with acoustic surveys for nautical depth assessment, was found to require a unit that can quickly mobilised and easily deployed. For the acoustic calibration the main parameter of interest is mud density and this is still the adopted parameter for nautical depth definition. To comply with this demand, we redesigned the DensiTune probe into a unit that can be operated from any vessel in any place in the world by any operator.
