Climbing Together...Reaching Great Rewards
During the week of October 22, 2012, Atlas Copco CMT USA hosted dealer subcommittee and principal
meetings in Carefree, AZ. On Monday, October 22, we held a focus group session with Atlas Copco global
inventory and logistics team members along with the subcommittee to review the Parts Availability NOW
project activities and measurements.
On Tuesday, dealer subcommittee members, joined by two Atlas Copco
store representatives, reviewed open items on the team’s ongoing
issue log. We agreed to focus on the action items identified as highest
priority according to our most recent subcommittee survey results, which
also were provided tothe AC Customer Service team. The members and
principals then broke away in the late afternoon for a challenging round
of golf with hazards such as bobcats and cacti.

On Thursday, attendees toured the Atlas Copco Phoenix company store and attended the PowerROC T35 E
Launch. Overall the meetings were very productive and generated focus for key activities. Since this
meeting, the subcommittee has followed up on high priority log items and held the January teleconference
on January 8, 2013. An AC Store Parts Manager and an AC Service Manager have now joined the
subcommittee to further align the two channels. We agreed to bring the service subcommittee team
members together for a two-day service workshop in February 2013 to help generate more interaction
and results. The next complete subcommittee meeting will be hosted by Modern Machinery in May 2013.

throughout the United States and around the globe. MINExpo, which
occurs every four years, is a way to reach out to customers and fellow
businesses in the mining community.
Central to Atlas Copco’s booth was the release of the latest addition
to the Pit Viper family of blasthole drill rigs. The Pit Viper 311 is
the first of the new Pit Viper 310 series, offering a range of hole sizes
9 to 12.5 inches that fills in the gap between the hole diameters of the
Pit Viper 351 and Pit Viper 270.

Atlas Copco was a key participant in MINExpo International 2012—
a record-breaking show that drew nearly 55,000 attendees and 19,000
exhibitors to the Las Vegas Convention Center Sept. 24 to Sept. 26.
Atlas Copco’s commitment to ingenuity and productivity is seen
Atlas Copco also debuted at MINExpo the world’s largest articulated
underground mining truck, the Minetruck MT85. It hauls 85 tonnes
(93 short tons) while fitting the same drift dimensions
of 50 to 60 ton trucks.
Other new products were launched just in time for the show, and other
longstanding successes were on display for the mining industry—rock
drilling tools, air compressors, boosters, light towers, exploration drills,
core drilling products, grouting machines, surface crawlers, underground ventilation, face drilling rigs, an ANFO charging truck, longhole drill rigs, pedestal boom systems and more.
Atlas Copco’s Master Driller Program
comes to the U.S. after proven
success in other countries
born to rOC
Atlas Copco’s Master Driller Program, created to speed up training
of drill rig operators during an industry-wide shortage of skilled
drillers, is now available in the U.S. after demonstrated success in
other countries. The program is based on progressive instruction in a
classroom that includes simulated drilling in an actual drill rig cab. The
program will not only help companies train new drillers but can also be
used to train experienced operators on new rigs during fleet upgrades.
The Master Driller Program can also enhance current driller skills to
increase a company’s overall efficiency.

no-cabin model provides straighter holes, more safety
and comfort for the operator
and easy-access maintenance.

Dynapac introduces
the new PL350TD
compact planer
New interim Tier
4 compliant paver
range launched
Dynapac’s new PL350TD compact
planer offers a variety of new technical developments, including the Easy Level leveling system and
milling drum technology. It is well suited for milling of joints, flush
cutting, removing road markings and other jobs where defective asphalt or concrete surfaces are cut.
Dynapac has launched the next
generation series of F1000 pavers
to the North American market designed to meet the interim Tier 4
emission regulations. The F1000 pavers are available in both track
and wheeled options to appeal to owners, operators and service crews.
Production is taking place at the Dynapac plant in Garland, Texas.
The PL350TD is equipped with a Cummins B 3.3 engine and 60 hp
(45 kW) motor power. It mills 13.8 inches wide to a depth of 3.9 inches with a cutting diameter of 20.5 inches. With both a left and right
steering angle of 75 degrees and a milling radius of only 3.9 inches,
the PL350TD is specifically designed for flush milling of manhole
covers, but it also makes it easy to maneuver in narrow construction
sites with little effort
To meet the new emission regulations, the upgraded paver series have
been equipped with the Cummins QSB 6.7 liter interim Tier 4 engine.
The engine delivers 220 hp at 2000 rpm or 230 hp at 1800 rpm. The
Cummins interim Tier 4 engine also provides a direct flow air cleaner
and new technology in the form of Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR),
Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC), and Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)
systems.
