in the Auctioneering Industry.
Facilitate access to, and mobility and progression
within education and training and allow learners to
progress along a learning path in Auctioneering.
Provide access to becoming a fully-fledged
Auctioneer by achieving the National Certificate:

The learning programme focuses on the
skills, knowledge, values and attitudes

Auctioneering Industry and the intention is :

To promote the development of knowledge, skills
and values that are required in the Auctioneering
Industry.

career paths by being more valuable to their
organisation, the economy and themselves.

Qualification rules
A minimum of 150 credits is
required to complete the
Qualification. In this Qualification
the credits are allocated as follows:



Fundamental: 56 credits.
Core: 64 credits.
Electives: 30 credits.

Notional Hours
Notional hours are based on the value of credits
of the registered unit standards used in each
Skills Programme. 1 Credit equals 10 notional
hours.
The total of notional hours are broken up into a
variety of activities and specific times (hours) are
allocated to each activity.

qualification
Exemption
Individuals that are currently employed in the auctioneering
industry can start the exemption compliance process with the
South African Institute for Auctioneers (SAIA).
Applicants will have to formally apply for:1.

Exemption in terms of the SAIA NQF 4 Equivalency Matrix;
If applicants do not qualify in terms of (1) above, then they will
have to go through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
process. Delegates will have to prove competency by means of
a Portfolio of Evidence (POE) against the FETC: Auctioneering
Support Services (NQF 4);
If applicants do not qualify for either (1) or (2) above, they
must enrol for the full training programme to complete the
qualification over 12 months.

Credit will be awarded for all fundamental unit
standards achieved at NQF Level 4 for any SETA
accredited FETC qualification. Proof of SETA
verification is essential. The credit value will
depend on the actual unit standards that have been
obtained for the FETC.
