HomeWorks QS
®
Save energy with unparalleled total home control
HomeWorks QS
®
HomeWorks has been the leader in light control for exclusive homes
for over a decade. And now, we’ve taken that light control to a new level—
total home control. This level of control includes lights, shades, HVAC,
sensors, and appliances and incorporates a variety of new products,
such as sensors, a temperature control, and a dynamic keypad.
HomeWorks QS offers increased energy savings, is a more powerful
system, is easier to install, and provides greater integration capabilities
than before. With HomeWorks QS, you can offer your customers a system
that works harder and smarter to bring energy savings to their homes
without having to sacrifice comfort and convenience.
The power of Quantum
®
Quantum was developed to meet the challenges
of creating systems that can scale to accommodate
thousands of lighting zones and thousands of shades
in buildings that are often in use 24 hours a day.
Using the Quantum architecture in HomeWorks® QS
provides for powerful control over daylight and electric
light, from small systems through large applications.
The new architecture provides large-scale processing
power and easier communications wiring, along with
powerful design, programming, and documentation
software to make your project workflow easier and faster.
The New York Times Building
uses Quantum and saves over
70% light energy.

Energy-saving features
Every time you dim your lights you save energy. Dim them by 25%,
for example, and you’ll save 20% energy. The more you dim, the more
you save. While a HomeWorks QS system provides the energy-saving
benefits of dimming, it also provides other energy-saving benefits, too.
Occupancy sensing
Sensors turn off the lights when the room is
empty and can save up to 20% lighting energy.

Energy-efficient light control
Lutron leads the industry in control of high-efficacy
light sources, including LED and fluorescent.
Our Hi-lume® A-Series LED driver provides the
ultimate dimming performance for LED fixtures
from popular OEM fixture brands.
Temperature control
The perfect complement to light and shade control,
temperature control gives you the ability to adjust
heating and cooling systems any time of day. This can
save up to 16% or more on heating and cooling costs.
Appliance control
Save energy by turning off standby power to A/V
equipment and computers—via keypads, sensors,
or the system timeclock. Standby power can
amount to 10% of a typical home’s electricity use.

Shades
In summer, close shades to block the sun, which
will reduce cooling costs. In winter, open shades
to let daylight warm your home—then close them
in the evening to retain the heat. Doing so can
save 10% on heating and cooling costs.
“Green” button
Use the “green” button to save energy by
controlling lights, shades and temperature
with a single touch.
Scheduling
The timeclock can be programmed to
automatically dim or turn off lights in spaces
where lights are often inadvertently left on.
“All Off’ button
Place a keypad with an “All Off” button near
an entry to conveniently turn off all of the lights
throughout the home with a single touch.

instead of seven and have a smaller cable diameter,
making it easier to route in new construction or

NEW Venetian blinds with Intelligent
Tilt Alignment™ technology
Venetian blinds are an attractive and effective way
to ensure privacy, while still allowing sunlight to filter
a space. Only Lutron® Venetians with Intelligent Tilt
Alignment can offer precision alignment of both tilt
and lift position between multiple shades for the
finest aesthetic. Create the right light in a space with
the ability to smoothly control tilt independent of lift
or by simply recalling a favorite preset.
Available in over 60 colors; custom matching
also available.
18 | Lutron
Kirbe™ vertical drapery system
An industry first, the Kirbé vertical drapery system
smoothly pulls fabric up and completely out of the
way. The unique design of the Kirbé provides greater
access to windows and views by eliminating stack
back—the mass of fabric that gathers as traditional
draperies are opened.
Roman shades with CERUS™ safety technology
Lutron has revolutionized the design of Roman
shades by introducing CERUS (Cord Eliminating
Roman Uptake System) safety technology. This
patent-pending innovation creates a safer shade by
removing the exposed inner cords that are typical of
Roman shade construction—and which may pose a
strangulation hazard to small children.
Tensioned shades
Tensioned shades combine electronic drive
technology with a new tension system that
eliminates the stress on the surrounding structure
when installed. Fabric is kept taut regardless of
slope, making it a perfect solution for skylights,
bottom-up, or angled window applications.
