Mr. Randy Morris General Manager Northern Little League All Stars Team Midland, GA 31820 August 3, 2016 MS Linda North Tournament Director GA Little League 12U Championship Tournament Peachtree City, GA 30269 Dear MS Linda North: I am writing this letter to lodge a formal protest against the Peachtree City Little League 12U All Star Team’s eligibility to compete in the 2016 GA State Little League Championship Tournament. It has been brought to our attention that the Peachtree City Little League team is ineligible to compete for the GA State Championship as they did not play the minimum 12 games as a league. Two of their teams (the Orioles and the Red Sox) only played 7 games and 6 games respectively. Two of their teams (The Yankees and the White Sox) also did not play a full 12 complete games. While the Yankees played 12 games, 2 were ties and not completed games. The White Sox played in 12 games as well, but 3 were ties and thus not completed games. The two South Fulton teams only played 6 and 8 games respectively as well. The entire league is in violation of the 12 game minimum games rule. More importantly, the White Sox and the Yankees who they drew their 13 players from for their 12U All Stars did not complete the 12 game minimal requirement. See imbedded link as substantiating evidence: http://teams.siplay.com//590938/Standings Six of their games were double headers in an attempt to ensure the two teams they selected All Stars from were at the 12 game minimum. All of their games were played on weeknights. The reason Peachtree City did not play on weekends and played so few games is because every one of their players maps to a travel ball roster for travel ball teams which played weekend long tournaments from February through June. There is nothing Little League at all about a sub-12 game season with double headers so you can get your players to travel ball tournaments over the weekend. They have only 4 teams for a district with a 75K population. In order to have more games, they pulled in 2 South Fulton County teams. Every team in this league is in clear violation of the minimum 12 game rule, thereby making them all ineligible to compete for the GA State LL 12U Championship. We are also troubled by the lack of transparency in Peachtree City’s Little League; particularly in light of their checkered past in doing what is right. Specifically we are concerned how a league with 15 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, and a 75K population has no defined boundaries for its two leagues. We allege that they have violated the draft procedures and manipulated their pool of talent to MS Linda North August 3, 2016 Page 2 the two teams, the White Sox and Yankees and think they can get away with it due to not having defined boundaries. We also find it disconcerting that they charge every player at the beginning of the season for All Star fees, which they reimburse if one’s child does not get selected for All Stars. At Northern Little League we collect no such fees and only asked parents to pay for All Star uniforms after players were notified of their All Star status at the authorized date. By collecting money from all players up front, Georgia Little League cannot accurately determine when Peachtree City’s All Star team was formed. This lack of transparency causes one to wonder how they field their teams and how they fairly compete and draft for their final All Star team. As an honored coach and manager for the players for Northern Little League’s 12U All Star team, we are not sore losers and neither are our fine players and parents. But we do believe in a fair, level playing field and are imploring you to ensure Georgia Little League is set up to provide that. We request that you take our concerns seriously and look into these violations committed by the Peachtree City Little League. We feel that based on your findings they will be disqualified as ineligible to compete for the GA LL 12U State Championship. Your urgency in investigating this matter is appreciated. By Little League Regulations we expect this formal protest to be forwarded to the GA State Little League Commissioner and then to Williamsport for adjudication. I look forward to hearing from you to discuss this matter further. Sincerely Coach Randy Morris
