CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Like any other painted surface, powder coated aluminium performs at its
best when it is properly cared for. Keeping the surface free from pollutants
and environmental contaminants will give you the maximum benefit and long
lasting performance from your powder coated surface.
RECOMMENDED CLEANING METHOD
A gentle clean with a soft brush and mild detergent, followed by a fresh
water rinse, will maintain the long-term performance of your powder coated
products. In rural or normal urban environments cleaning should occur
every 12 months. In areas of high pollution, such as industrial areas or coastal
environments, cleaning should occur every three months. In particularly
hazardous locations, such as beachfronts, severe marine environments or
areas of high industrial pollution, cleaning should be increased to monthly.
Do not use strong solvents, abrasive cleaning products or any product
recommended for thinning paints. If you need to remove splashed paint,
sealants or mastics from your
powder coated products use white
spirits, carry out cleaning in shade
and during cooler temperatures
using a soft cloth and gentle wiping
only.
We recommend that, prior to using
any cleaning agent on your windows
or doors you test a small nonvisible area of your powder coated
product to ensure that no visual
colour change or damage will occur.
Ask your fabricator for the care and
maintenance information specific to
your product choice.
COLOUR SELECTION
Powder Coating Licensing Authority
When you select a colour from
these ranges you can limit your
costs both for powder coating
and hardware matching.
Architectural Window Systems (AWS) is a licensed Qualicoat applicator,
ensuring all Vantage Aluminium & AWS Commercial Joinery is finished in
accordance with AS3715.
The international Qualicoat system is administered by the Australasian
Institute of Surface Finishing; licensed applicators are independently audited
for conformance to the Qualicoat standard. Qualicoat is your independent
assurance that powder coated aluminium complies with Australian
Standards.
CHOOSING YOUR POWDER COATING COLOUR
The colour you choose for your aluminium joinery will depend ultimately
on the look you are trying to achieve. For a modern, clean look you could
opt for a tone a few shades up or down from your house cladding, match
the joinery to the house cladding or contrast totally with dark or black
joinery against a light coloured house. Contrasting colours in natural tones
will give your home a lasting quality that blends with the environment.
When you are choosing your colour consider that different colours and
finishes will perform differently in different environments. Lighter shades
and matt finishes will perform best in the harsh Australian climate and can
still maintain an up-to-the-minute appearance.
