APPLICATION FOR “MISS NEWTON” CONTEST
Contest is Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 5:00 PM
Town Hall, 39 Trinity Street, Newton
A $500.00 SCHOLARSHIP WILL BE AWARDED TO THE WINNER OF MISS NEWTON
Applicant must be between the ages of 17 and 21 years old and be a permanent resident of Newton.
Criteria for selection:
1. A written essay, not to exceed two typed-written pages double-spaced, explaining why you would be a
good representative of Newton. This essay must be submitted with this entry form.
2. Two questions to be answered by each applicant on the day of the competition in front of the judges.
3. You will be judged on personal presentation, poise, demeanor and overall appearance.
4. Email a bio no more than 150 words to kwalker@newtontownhall.com by Friday, May 27th.
All application forms must be received by May 27, 2016 (12:00 PM). Enclose this page with your essay. If you

The applicant must submit a typed biography no longer than 150 words by e-mail to
kwalker@newtowntownhall.com on or before May 27, 2016. The biography should include any hobbies, talents,
special interests or accomplishments as well as any significant family or school history. The biography will be
included in the applicants’ packet which will be given to the judges and will be used as an introduction on the
evening of the event.

The Queen of the Fair Rehearsal on July 27, 2016 at 6 PM.
The Queen of the Fair Pageant the week of August 5th to August 14, 2016 (schedule to follow).
The winner will also be invited to the following events; however, attendance is not mandatory.

WINNER MUST BE AVAILABLE TO REPRESENT THE TOWN OF NEWTON AT THE SUSSEX COUNTY FARM
AND HORSE SHOW IN AUGUST 2016.

RECREATION EVENT
Hold Harmless Agreement
_______________________, on behalf of him or herself and all family members,
(collectively “Participant”) assumes all risks incident to the operations and activities at
the Town of Newton Recreation Event, the Miss Newton Contest. Participant further
covenants and agrees not to make any claim against or file any legal proceeding of any
nature against the Town of Newton and any of its employees, officers, directors,
members, and agents for any injury to person or property occurring during or arising
out of the Town of Newton Recreation Event, the Miss Newton Contest.
Participant hereby waives, releases, holds harmless, and forever discharges the Town of
Newton, its employees, officers, directors, members, agents, and each and every one of
them from any and all liability, causes of action, claims or demands, arising in law or
equity, of any kind, including but not limited to personal injury, death and/or property
damage, as a result of participation in the Town of Newton Recreation Event, the Miss
Newton Contest. Participant further agrees to indemnify the Town of Newton and save
it harmless from any and all claim or claims brought against it by or on behalf of any
person, firm or corporation based upon any act or omission or any alleged negligence of
the undersigned.
