APP Working Group
Thank you to all those colleagues who expressed an interest in joining a working group to develop
probing questions to support the use of the science APP criteria. Unfortunately we only have
sufficient funds to support 15 colleagues to attend. The first meeting will take on the 9 th March. We
will update the e profile with our work when it is completed.

1. The ten science APP standards files

2. Learning targets in science guidance
http://nationalstrategies.standards.dcsf.gov.uk/node/324857?uc=force_deep
This resource provides support for teachers who are beginning to plan for the next steps in learning
for pupils as a result of periodic judgments or day-to-day assessments in science. It provides clear
Learning targets which show how to progress to the next level. These are supported by examples of
science-specific contexts that link closely to the Assessing Pupils' Progress (APP) assessment criteria.
Don’t forget resources will remain on www.glosscience.org for the next few months but will move
over to Schoolsnet by 1st April.
