Bishop’s Prayer Walk in Durham deanery 21st -24th May
NECAT: North East Churches Acting Together – Service at 2pm on
Sat 23rd May. This year marks the 900th anniversary of St Godric going to
Finchale Priory in Durham. St Godric follows in the tradition of the great
Northern Saints in his zeal for the Gospel and his love of our region. he lived as
a hermit at Finchale dedicating his life to prayer. To give thanks for the life of
Godric we are holding a pilgrimage and service at the beautiful setting of
Finchale priory on the banks of the Wear. The service will be led by the Rt
Revd Paul Butler, Bishop of Durham, accompanied by the other church leaders,
it will have a focus on prayer, especially prayers for the North East and for
renewal of religious life. After the service there will be a time for a picnic and
and fellowship together. For further information contact Joanne Thorns Tel:
07932 513295.
